Detailed Reviews
Our Room, P was up a flight of fairly steep steps and then through a door into the hallway, this could be a challenge when carrying more than one travel bag.
The room itself was an interesting layout, the staff member introduced it as a balcony, but it was almost indoors, it was more like a smoking area to us. A couple of dead cockroaches were out there.
The two main rooms looked liked they had been converted at one point in it's history. There is plenty of storage in both rooms with lots of drawers in the sleeping room and drawers and wardrobes and cupboards in the shower and WC room.
The fridge had a microwave, toaster, and kettle on it, a small selection of packet teas and coffee. The TV was on the row of drawers, the chairs and small round table are not really able to be used due to lack of space. There were two power strips in the room.
It was not the most relaxing room we have stayed in, but it was functional and served it's purpose.
This room would not be my choice if I visited again.
There was loud music and TV, as well as car repairs to be heard at night time.

When we booked the cheapest motel we could find for the short stay of two nights, we were not prepared for such an interesting experience.
The rooms were scrupulously clean. Top marks for that.
Towels changed every day.
But oh what a strange place.
There are two parts to the motel. We were put in what had once been a very expensive 1950's house converted into motel rooms.
Up a very steep staircase, into the room, which has been decorated in what can only be described as someone's idea of art deco come 1950's.
We had such fun figuring out what parts of the house had been altered to accommodate our space.
The bathroom is very adequate and rather quaint.
The toilet stall is housed in what would have been the homes original shower, with all the original pipework covered up by pictures.
Access to the bathroom from the bedroom - step onto a mat - check under the mat and start laughing, because the pipework for the original toilet is still there.
But hey, it was clean, the rooms large and after all, it's only to sleep in.

Incredibly small room and the reservation was not clear about the size. Also nothing was mentioned about the fact that this particular room had no heat or A/C of its own! We got a fan that only had a timer so we couldn’t even run it all night! Bed was not comfortable. Very disappointing stay.

Could have been 5/5 had the young fella checking me in had any idea about even a single attraction in the area.
Liked the quirkiness of my room in the guest house. Spotlessly clean, plenty of equipment in the room, bathroom excellent, and top quality linen on the bed & in bathroom. For the price was exceptional value for money and close to most things or easy to get to them. Geysers/hot mud pools & traditional crafts school in walking distance. Town centre walkable too.
I liked it. I'm fascinated what the 30+ drawers are for🤣👍 Quirky but good

Overall, poor. The decor was horrifically dated, with floral patterns everywhere. A fourth bed was supplied (although terribly uncomfortable), however a fourth bowl, plate, glass and spoon were not. Also, a single teaspoon between four seemed a little mean. The microwave caught fire pretty much as soon as we turned it on. It was replaced by the attendant, but should have been checked beforehand. Also, the sofa was filthy, with dust and discarded food between the cushions.

Very disappointed with the motel apartment which was used by a family member during her recent visit for one night. I was firstly shocked at the price, which I thought was extremely costly for a motel, and I wish I had of taken my family member to a hotel instead - it would have been far more appropriate for what she paid.
The service in Reception from a male attendant was average, and really lacked the traditional warm Rotorua. However, when we were shown to my family member's room, another female attendant was much more polite and welcoming. Which was important considering we then had to walk around the front of the motel onto the main road, and turn down another side street in order to reach her room.
Unfortunately, it just went worse from there. The carpet smelt like cat urine, the decor felt cold and uninviting, the kitchen cupboards had visible food stains, the blinds were broken in the lounge and bedroom, and there was no hot water.
Overall, very poor and would not recommend.

Booked hotel by accident as myself and my family was traveling around New Zealand.
Called up straight away to cancel but the owner herself (MAY) who had no conpation who was very rude to me didn't listen to how or why it was booked by accident she herself said no refund then just slammed the phone down on me :(.
So people be carful if your thinking of booking this hotel cause she just wants your money and don't give a dame about you or your family .
May must be the only person we have come in contact in New Zealand to give this beautiful country a bad name .
Every other place we have visited from bad to good the customer service makes it but this hotels customer service was shocking :(
Shame really
Good luck May for your future with your attitude

If you get a decent place to crash for the night, this property meets the criteria. Compact but it has queen bed, freeview TV, small kitchen and separate bathroom. NO A/C (She said 'there's a fan) so a summer trip may not be reason to stay. I wish they had lamps with built in USB slots but the wifi is good. I did take a few photos so y'all can see the place. I think I was in Room 3 (room was second room from the reception). Also, I got a 10% to that thermal place (Waiotapu?)

Due to my late reservation, I was not particularly selective on my reservation. PURE was a pleasant surprise in multiple ways and met every expectation set on their website and in reviews. Located relatively near the Te Puria Māori culture center, I was able to walk to PURE directly from my tour. I was also able to Uber (new here!) and walk to the center of town. Additionally, I walked home from the Redwood Forest (almost two miles). Uber was also available. My room was clean, quiet, and well appointed. The service was prompt and helpful. Definitely a good experience.
