Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredibly small room and the reservation was not clear about the size. Also nothing was mentioned about the fact that this particular room had no heat or A/C of its own! We got a fan that only had a timer so we couldn’t even run it all night! Bed was not comfortable. Very disappointing stay.

Could have been 5/5 had the young fella checking me in had any idea about even a single attraction in the area. Liked the quirkiness of my room in the guest house. Spotlessly clean, plenty of equipment in the room, bathroom excellent, and top quality linen on the bed & in bathroom. For the price was exceptional value for money and close to most things or easy to get to them. Geysers/hot mud pools & traditional crafts school in walking distance. Town centre walkable too. I liked it. I'm fascinated what the 30+ drawers are for🤣👍 Quirky but good

When we booked the cheapest motel we could find for the short stay of two nights, we were not prepared for such an interesting experience. The rooms were scrupulously clean. Top marks for that. Towels changed every day. But oh what a strange place. There are two parts to the motel. We were put in what had once been a very expensive 1950's house converted into motel rooms. Up a very steep staircase, into the room, which has been decorated in what can only be described as someone's idea of art deco come 1950's. We had such fun figuring out what parts of the house had been altered to accommodate our space. The bathroom is very adequate and rather quaint. The toilet stall is housed in what would have been the homes original shower, with all the original pipework covered up by pictures. Access to the bathroom from the bedroom - step onto a mat - check under the mat and start laughing, because the pipework for the original toilet is still there. But hey, it was clean, the rooms large and after all, it's only to sleep in.

Our Room, P was up a flight of fairly steep steps and then through a door into the hallway, this could be a challenge when carrying more than one travel bag. The room itself was an interesting layout, the staff member introduced it as a balcony, but it was almost indoors, it was more like a smoking area to us. A couple of dead cockroaches were out there. The two main rooms looked liked they had been converted at one point in it's history. There is plenty of storage in both rooms with lots of drawers in the sleeping room and drawers and wardrobes and cupboards in the shower and WC room. The fridge had a microwave, toaster, and kettle on it, a small selection of packet teas and coffee. The TV was on the row of drawers, the chairs and small round table are not really able to be used due to lack of space. There were two power strips in the room. It was not the most relaxing room we have stayed in, but it was functional and served it's purpose. This room would not be my choice if I visited again. There was loud music and TV, as well as car repairs to be heard at night time.

Due to my late reservation, I was not particularly selective on my reservation. PURE was a pleasant surprise in multiple ways and met every expectation set on their website and in reviews. Located relatively near the Te Puria Māori culture center, I was able to walk to PURE directly from my tour. I was also able to Uber (new here!) and walk to the center of town. Additionally, I walked home from the Redwood Forest (almost two miles). Uber was also available. My room was clean, quiet, and well appointed. The service was prompt and helpful. Definitely a good experience.

We had a fantastic stay at this motel. It has a very good location close to all the other spas and good restaurants. The room was very clean and organised. We had a very goos night sleep on a big, comfortable bed with electric blankets and 3 pillows each. We also had a small but lovely kitchen and a terrace. We could park 1 meter away from the door of the room which was very convenient. I recommend this motel 100%

Our room had big windows that let a lot of light in, had a covered out door room for chilling. The main room was beautiful, open and clean had a big bathroom with bath and shower but no kitchenette and Was fairly close town.

We stayed here for two nights and have been left very disappointed. The “king” bed is literally two singles pushed together, with a big bump down the middle that means you can only sleep on one side. The windows and doors have no screens on them, so it’s a bit awkward leaving anything open for air, which is desperately needed as the room gets super hot! There’s no aircon or fans for any relief. The second bedroom is very bare, with literally a single bed and that’s it. It could really use a bedside table and a lamp. The bathroom needs work. There is very limited hot water which seems to run out after one person. There are cracked tiles on the floor. There’s no where to put anything in the bathroom. The shower screen is very dirty, and the toilet bowl is marked. One of the biggest annoyances is the living quarters directly above and the noise they make. From their tv to their showers, to music, talking, walking around... you can hear everything until all hours of the morning. They know they have guests downstairs but it doesn’t seem to phase them at all. I won’t be coming back here.
