Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had such a lovely time staying with Joan in her beautiful B&B home. We were made to feel so warm and comfortable from the minute we walked through the door until the morning we left, sharing delicious food and travel stories by the fire in between heading out & exploring everything Rotorua has to offer, which Joan knows all about and is happy to advise on. The space available for guests is everything you need - clean and spacious with super comfy beds. We loved being 5 mins out of town and being in such close proximity to mountain biking and hot pools right on your doorstep. This is the sort of place you really want to keep adding on one more night, and we would love to be able to go back some day soon, but in the meantime would happily recommend to all of our friends. Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable stay :)

We felt most welcome and Joan is a person one has to meet. She helped us weather the storm, literally, drove us around when needed, did our laundry, shared her experiences and is just the most wonderful human being to be around.

You were the most amazing family - caring parents of the most well behaved little girl!!. The weather was atrocious and yet you still got out and visited all the Rotorua Tourist attractions you could - astonshing !! You won't be surprised to hear that we have the record for rain this April after all those storms - nearly a metre - so now is the time you should be here with the sun shining. Thank you for sharing those days with me - hope we meet again.

We were so grateful for all the extras that came with our stay at Malple House. A friendly welcome, oh so comfortable beds, amazing breakfasts and the helpful tips about what to do and see in the area.

First the host! Joan is a one-of-a-kind person, going all out to make your stay memorable. The location is perfect, being a short ride outside the city center, opposite the redwood tree forest and on the way to the blue, green and Tarawera lakes. The lodging is immaculate and perfect in every single detail. The feeling of being at home is such that I was almost forgetting to pay Joan before leaving... (shame on me!)

This b&b is a little way out of town. Our host made us feel very welcome and gave us plenty of tips on places to visit. We don't usually stay in b&b but this was a nice surprise. The room was comfortable and breakfast nice. Close by is the redwood forest.

Our travel agent billed this as a three day "home stay" and at the end of our visit, it certainly felt like we had been treated to a real "home." Maple House is comfortable and the room we had was small but adequate, however the warmth we felt from Barry and Joan was extraordinary. Although we had a busy tourist schedule, we chose to make time to visit with them each evening and extended our breakfast time together. Joan is as gracious a host as one could imagine and we genuinely miss her.

On a recent trip to Rotorua, we stayed at Maple House. Our host Joan and Barry couldn't do enough for us. Joan was up to date with all the tourers, and new lots of things from bird life to volcanos. In just a few minutes you are in town, with a list of were to go for great coffee, food and anything you may be looking for. All l can say about Maple House is if you want to be treated special you must stay here. Great host, plenty of food and the kettle is all ways on. We will be back. Julie and Peter. Thanks again

What a wonderful review !! It takes both parties to enjoy a holiday and we really appreciated your company also. It was great that the weather was so fine and your could do so many of the tourist trips in and around Rotorua especially the Canaopy Tour Trip which I know your really enjoyed. Do come back and stay again whenever you can lots more for you to do here and many more coffees to share.

The personal touch of this B&B makes it a perfect B&B. Joan and Barry are spoiling you and you have wonderful chats. It is a very good location, at the opposite of the Whakarewarewa forest with his large trees where you can make great walks and bike rides. By car you are in a few minutes in the center of Rotorua. What a great review, thank you for such excellent comments. We were just thrilled to have you stay with us for another visit - this time for 5 days !! So easy to spoil such nice people. Yes the Whakarewarewa forest is a great asset for Rotorua and enjoyed by so many. We were also pleased that you rafted the Kaituna River while with us. It's a thrilling experience to raft the highest waterfall possible in the world and you both did it !! Great memories, look forward to seeing you again either in the Netherlands or back here yet again
