Rotorua is truly like no other destination. It's a fascinating mix of culture, adventure and relaxation. Renowned for being a hotbed of thermal activity, Rotorua's hot springs and spas make it the perfect getaway for pampering, stress-release and rejuvenation. At the same time it's also a place where you can truly get the heart pumping. Adrenalin-raising adventures punctuate the Rotorua landscape from thrilling luge rides, white water rafting and even rolling down a hill in a giant translucent ball (zorbing). If all that's not enough for you, then you also have an area rich in Maori history and culture and friendly locals to walk you through it all. Located just 20 minutes outside the city to ensure your getaway is relaxing, Ramada Resort by Wyndham Rotorua Marama is the perfect place for whatever brings you to this simply wonderful area of New Zealand. With apartments sleeping 4-6 people in 2 and 3 bedroom apartments respectively, your stay will feel like your home-away-from-home. The apartments include all modern conveniences, with the resort also boasting an outdoor swimming pool, gymnasium and a tennis court.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 1 week in a 2 bedroom apartment in this beautiful resort. It was immaculately clean in all areas. The kitchen/dining/lounge area was very spacious, tastefully decorated with quality furnishings and accessories. Upstairs there was 2 bedrooms with 1 bathroom between, all a good size and very comfortable, overlooking the canal. There was also an outside deck with table and chairs, overlooking the canal.
The grounds are immaculate and there is an on-site restaurant which serves very good meals, extremely generous servings for a very reasonable price.
We were here in mid-winter and didn't use the extra facilities that are available.
The resort is very well managed with friendly helpful staff and Manager.

The resort was nicely located about 15 mins from the city, so it didn't smell like sulphur all the time. If you have a hire car, it's easy to get around. It is quiet and has good facilities for families. You can go shopping at the Pack n Save too, to save money because the resort has a full kitchen in the apartments.

This property is great if your looking for space at a low price we had a two bedroom apartment and it was very affordable although it is 20mins out of town.
They had a restaurant that is only open Wednesday-Sunday evenings only so make sure to take your breakfast the apartment had a good sized kitchen and full dining table and lounge area. There was also tennis courts, fishing if you get a licence from town (you can borrow the rods) lots of board games and movies to borrow also. There was a pool and spa however both were freezing which was a huge disappointment as that’s a large part of why we picked to stay here.

The rooms weren’t the tidiest. The bathroom was horrendous. There was long black hairs, which did not belong to any member of my family, all over the shower. The shower drain was clogged with hair and wouldn’t drain properly. The tap in the sink was very weak due to the amount of build up in the nozzle. The box of tissues in the tissue holder besides the sink was empty upon arrival and was not replenished during the housekeeping services. Just an overall lack of attention to detail.
The outdoor pool facilities weren’t that crash hot, on or the buttons to activate one of the spas was broken meaning our luxury get away in a hotel with a spa, turned into us having a communal hot bath outside. Not overly picturesque.
We then went to the restaurant for dinner. The food was severely overpriced for what it was which was a shame and left us feeling ripped off.
However, the staff were very friendly and the scenery around the hotel was breath taking.
The location isn’t the best if you’re looking for conscience to get around on foot.
If these simple housekeeping issues are addressed, this place would be unstoppable.
You would expect a higher quality of standard given that this is an international franchise.

Such a shame, because on the surface, this looks like a nice set up, but we arrived and checked out within an hour. The lady in the front office was lovely, but when we went to the house (no.10), the whole place stank of something that had been cooked previously, There was also no air-conditioning upstairs and the temperature in the bedrooms was easily in the 100s. The whole unit needed updating too and we decided that we couldn't stay in the heat and smell and checked out. In fairness, we received a full refund.

Made a last minute decision to take a 2 night breakaway in the July school holidays to Rotorua. Booked the Ramada Marama ( have stayed in a few places in the past in city centre) as keen to have a 2 bedroom family style property . Glad we did, it is only a short 15-20 min drive from the city in a lovely quiet part of the northern edge of lake Rotorua. Great facilities at the resort, tennis court and spa pool were very good. Pool not heated but in summer I am sure would be lovely to laze around. The grounds are kept immaculate and the unit we had (58) was very tidy with TV's in all the rooms and plenty of heating/heatpump etc. Well stocked kitchen equipment and tasteful furnishings.
The staff are very helpful and attentive and the restaurant/cafe excellent value for money. Would definitely stay at this property again when we are next in Rotorua and highly recommend. The canal view rooms a lovely and the resident swans and bird life add to the views.

The self catering apartment was lovely, with a small balcony overlooking the lake. It was well equipped with washing machine and dryer, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, toaster and kettle. We were slightly disturbed the first night by the birds outside, but presumably got used to them by the second night!
We didn't get to use any of the facilities sadly but the pool looked great, and we would love to have played tennis or table tennis if we'd had time.
The hotel is located about 20 mins drive from Rotorua so we popped in several times to visit different places. The nearest supermarket was only about 10 mins drive away so pretty convenient.

We arrived a little early from our previous nights accommodation. We were met with a friendly smile and lots of information. It was no trouble that we got there a bit early (about 1 hour). They called the gentleman that checks that all units are ready and requested that he check that our unit was ready. After we did the paperwork, he had already checked and we were able to go to our unit. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! 2 storey, 2 bedrooms, the works. The property also had its own restaurant and gym, access to the water, pool and spa. We had dinner at their restaurant and the meal was perfect! If you want to go to Rotorua, stay here! Its not in town - rather about 10 minutes out of town but it is well worth it!! We will be back next time we are in New Zealand.

We had a simply superb time at the resort with pur two kids 3 and 6 year old....With a lot of places booked out we decided to go here. With three days of rain, the staff and General Manager Salen Rattan really made it a great holiday for us. With hands on advice we were able to book some great all weather activities...recpmmend the duck tours and of course the luge...and other great activities. All in all a five star experience despite the bad weather.

+1
We had 2 x 3 bedroom apartments as we were travelling with extended family. While we weren't able to get apartments next to each other they were only a short walk away. The apartments were clean and tidy. We did have an issue with our fridge where even though on low it was freezing our drinks and things. Also one of the electric blankets didn't seem to work. Did notify staff on departure of these.
Nice view to the canal from our apartment. We had a white duck visit each morning for breakfast which was cool. My nephew enjoyed feeding the birds and the swan.
The resort was a bit further out than I thought but once there and worked out what we were doing realised it is only approx. 20 min drive either left (for attractions) or right (to the city) so it wasn't too bad.
Great property to wander around. Pool was a little heated. Nice spa as well but we weren't able to use it on our last night as there was one family there that seemed to take it over.
Definitely would stay here again.

Hi there, the outdoor pool is solar heated, and so in winter this just takes the chill off, we do have a spa pool onsite as well which is lovely and warm in winter.
We didn't have our own BBQ, and I didn't see any on decks when I went for walks. They have communal BBQs, designed to serve multiple units (and ours wasn't close to the unit).
