Driving up to the property I thought I was in heaven. It's situated right on Lake Rotorua. A fellow traveller at breakfast perfectly described it as "majestic." We were greeted warmly and were shown to our beautiful deluxe villa. The views from our balcony were stunning. Every morning I watched the sunrise. The villa was larger than many one bedroom apartments. I took advantage of feeding the on-site animals carrots. Breakfast was so delicious with the best porridge I've ever tasted. I could have eaten a jar of each of their fresh jams without bread. Service, except for dinner, as impeccable. I would have given this review five stars but I did have a few issues/suggestions: 1. We had dinner and it was truly mediocre. The bread served with the bread service was so fresh but, for four, big pieces of bread there were very little accompaniments. I ordered the seared tuna. It came to my table cold, not lukewarm, but cold. It was overcooked and dry and very disappointing. The cauliflower puree, potato gratin, and baby carrots were delicious but would have been much better hot. This dish was very expensive and did not meet my expectations. 2. The bathroom was very large but had issues. The floor was so slippery. The shower stall was vinyl and small and also slippery. It was such a small, cheap shower for this caliber of a property and this size of a bathroom. The vanity was long and shallow so it was hard to put our toiletries on it. Since the sink was so shallow, water splashed everywhere when I washed my face. The vanity could have been a lot deeper if the space was better used. 3. The bed linens were very low quality. The sheets were stiff and cheap. The comforter was very thin, like you would find at a low price hotel. Again, for the price of the room, one would expect better linens. I would in no way deter anyone from staying at the magical property. I'm just suggesting that there are little tweaks that could be made that would bring this property up to a true five star one.

Thank you for sharing your experience at On The Point – Lake Rotorua. It's evident that you enjoyed many aspects of your stay, including the stunning views, spacious accommodations, and delightful breakfast offerings. However, it's also crucial to address areas where improvements could enhance the overall guest experience. I am currently working to determine the specific room type you stayed in, as this information would be particularly helpful in addressing your feedback regarding the bathroom and bed linen. I kindly request that you provide this detail by emailing me at gm@onthepoint.co.nz. Regarding the dining experience, I understand your disappointment with the quality and presentation of the food. Maintaining consistency and attention to detail in culinary offerings is vital for upholding the property's reputation. Rest assured, I will discuss this matter with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager to ensure such instances are rectified. The concerns you raised about the bathroom amenities, such as slippery floors and limited shower space, are valid and must be addressed for guest safety and comfort. We continuously upgrade our facilities, including installing slip-resistant flooring and upgrading shower fixtures. Additionally, anti-slip mats are provided in each room, though we may need to better highlight this during guest check-in. Quality bed linens are paramount for a comfortable sleep experience, and we pride ourselves on offering some of the finest. Our meticulous housekeeping team regularly monitors and replaces linens to maintain our high standards. We use premium materials, including custom-made sheets for our unique bed sizes. Your feedback provides valuable insights for our continuous efforts to improve and refine the guest experience. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and providing some valuable tweaks, and I look forward to hearing back from you in regard to the particular room type you stayed in. Safe travels further.

We were there last month. It was the most expensive hotel I booked as it was the last day for the whole trip. Sadly it turned out to be the most disappointing one. The lake view lodge i booked was nothing like the photos they show on the website(Maybe they have different rooms for lake view lodge, but obviously we got the worst one). I thought the animal feeing would be fun, but nobody there offered animal food!!! So we ended up observing some anminals...such a downer!!! And what a waste of money for such an old hotel. It is definitely not a luxury experience.

Dear Danielle Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at our property. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment you experienced during your visit. We sincerely regret that the accommodations provided did not meet your expectations, especially regarding the lake view lodge. We understand the importance of accurate representation, and we apologize for any discrepancy between the photos on our website and the room you were assigned. However, due to the nature of the lodge being a family home, each room, whilst they are consistent in the amenities they offer, are individually themed to provide uniqueness and not a cookie cutter approach of modern hotel builds. Our animals are indeed a highlight for many of our guests, and we take pride in offering opportunities for interaction with them. We regret if you missed the communication about the availability of carrots for feeding the donkeys, sheep, and horses. Typically, information about this activity is provided during the property tour upon your arrival and reiterated during breakfast the following morning. We understand that the delivery of numerous details during your arrival may sometimes result in certain information being missed. We apologize for any disappointment it may have brought to your overall experience. We also appreciate your feedback about the condition of our property. As a private home with a rich history and unique family heritage, we understand that our decor and atmosphere may not appeal to everyone. However, we aim to provide a warm and welcoming environment for all our guests to enjoy. Upon reviewing our records, we couldn't locate details of your stay in February. We apologize for any oversight and would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your experience so we can address your concerns directly. Your satisfaction is incredibly important to us, and we would welcome the chance to make things right. Please feel free to provide additional details or reach out to us directly so we can assist you further. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a more enjoyable stay. Warm regards, Ann Gregor

Beautiful Lodge on the shore line of Lake Rotorua. The views from every part of the lodge are magnificent. On our first night we choose to eat in the restaurant and the food was 5 star for sure. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We would have loved to stay longer but our itinerary meant it was time to move on.

We sadly spent only one night here when visiting the thermal areas of Rotorua. Wish we could have been here a week. This place exceeded our expectations. The room we had as part of the main house was like a big apartment! Huge bathroom and living room. And a view across 2 sliding glass doors to a balcony looking out at the gorgeous lake. We definitely missed out by not staying here longer. The absolutely best aspect of the hotel was the restaurant. It was quiet that rainy night - only 4 tables of guests, but we were treated like kings. The service, lead by Adriana Martinez, was excellent and the food was astonishing! We were in New Zealand and Australia for nearly a month and in retrospect, it was probably the best dinner we had the entire trip. A 4 course prix fixe menu prepared by ONE CHEF (William Foote) in the kitchen! Came with 2 cocktails included. I don't know how he did it. My favorite item was the deconstructed Beef Wellington - a very delicious, inventive take on the classic. My husband's favorite was the Ora King Salmon with crayfish and creamy leeks. We had breakfast included with the room and this was another amazing array of foods, plus menu items. This should be a destination resort for anyone remotely nearby.

Fabulous location and equally fabulous food. Definitely the fine dining end of the market but not expensive for the quality it affords. We had a great meal, nice wine, super service and made our day. The restaurant was classy and we had a superb table overlooking the lake. Would highly recommend.

Started at 5 stars, even though we took our own luggage to the cottage next to the lake, (steep hill) first nights meal was fabulous, friendly staff, comfortable bed , second night was poor over cooked beef and chips, the final straw was the hot tub (which we didn’t use) deciding to have a maintenance cycle at 3.08am, waking us up. We told the receptionist when we left the following morning and she couldn’t care less, she was just keen to give us the bill. Very unprofessional which sadly ruined our stay.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and please accept our sincere apologies for the aspects of your stay that did not meet your expectations. We truly appreciate your honest review as it helps us improve our services for future guests. We're glad to hear that you found the first night's meal fabulous, enjoyed the comfortable bed, and found our staff friendly during your stay. However, we regret to learn about the decline in the quality of your experience during the subsequent night. Regarding the meal quality and the inconvenience caused by the hot tub maintenance cycle, we understand how these issues would affect your overall satisfaction. Please know that your comments regarding the overcooked meal and the have been duly noted, and we will address these concerns with our kitchen. In terms of the spa, the maintenance team reviewed the spa and there was nothing untoward other than the spa turning itself on and off as part of the temperature control cycles. We're also disappointed to hear about your experience with our receptionist. Providing exceptional customer service is a top priority for us, and we apologize if the service you received fell short of our usual standards. It is within our standard procedures to offer every guest help with their luggage whether arriving to the property or departing, I apologize that this was not offered and can only assume that our reception was busy with other guests for them not to avail themselves to make themselves available to assist you. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with the exceptional experience that we strive to deliver to all of our guests. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention, and we hope to regain your trust in the future.

It all started off very well. The room whilst being in a cabin on the edge of the garden was very pleasant and well equipped . The evening meal on the first night we were there was excellent and the very best meal we had had since we arrived in New Zealand. At this point, it was a five star review; unfortunately the dinner on the second night was not of the same standard as the first night. We ordered exactly the same meal. Perhaps it was a different chef, but it was a disappointment. In addition to this, the hot tub decided to perform a maintenance cycle at 3 o’clock in the morning which woke us up and made it very difficult for us to get back to sleep. Whilst this is disappointing, it didn’t seem to phase the reception when we paid our bill; the receptionist took little or no interest in the problems that we had had. One heck of a slope to pull the luggage up to the car!!

Dear Robert. Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We're delighted to hear that your experience started off on a positive note with a pleasant and well-equipped room, as well as an excellent evening meal on the first night. We appreciate your kind words about our accommodations and dining experience. However, we're truly sorry to learn that the dinner on the second night did not meet the same high standard as the first night. Consistency in quality is of utmost importance to us, and we apologize for any disappointment this may have caused. Your feedback regarding the hot tub maintenance cycle is also concerning, and we apologize for any disruption it caused to your sleep, however I did check with the maintenance team who advised they had checked the spa and advised this was normal temperature control as part of the spa cycle. We understand that the experience at checkout was not as attentive as expected, and we apologize for any oversight on our part. Providing excellent customer service is a priority for us, and we regret that we fell short in this instance. Regarding the luggage, it is mandatory that we offer assistance with luggage when checking into and out of the lodge. I am sorry that this was not provided in this instance but can only assume that reception must have been preoccupied. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we will use it to improve our services and ensure that similar issues do not occur in the future. If there's anything else you'd like to discuss or if there's any way, we can make it up to you, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the exceptional experience that you deserve. Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us.

A gorgeous lake view and a welcoming smile greeted us when we arrived at this lodge. We were swiftly shown to our 2 bedroom lodge which had a stunning view out over the lake from one of the bedrooms. A washing machine and tumble dryer in one of the 2 bathrooms was a welcome sight and was soon put to good use! Dinner and breakfast were both very good. The only negative here is that one bedroom didn’t have air con so it was a bit too warm at night. If there was a plug in fan I didn’t find it. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area but lovely to get back to the lodge for some down time.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the lodge. It's great to hear that you were greeted with a gorgeous lake view and a welcoming smile upon arrival. We're glad that you enjoyed the stunning view from one of the bedrooms and found the washing machine and tumble dryer in the bathroom to be a welcome sight. We're also pleased to hear that you had a positive dining experience with both dinner and breakfast. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of air conditioning in one of the bedrooms, resulting in a warm night. We understand that this may have affected your comfort. I checked with our housekeeping team who uplifted your feedback form on the day of your departure, and our Head Housekeeper informed me that this particular air conditioning unit had been switched to a warm setting and this would have impacted your comfort. We also have spare cooling fans available and a call to the after hours number provided on your welcome letter would have seen one of the team bring one up to your room. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you. It's wonderful to know that there were plenty of activities and attractions in the surrounding area, allowing you to have a fulfilling experience during your stay. We hope that you were able to enjoy some relaxing downtime at the lodge as well. Thank you for providing your feedback, and we appreciate your visit. This is a fabulous hotel. The rooms were unbelievable. The views were magnificent. The food was delicious. The people who wok there were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. It was unique to have animals to feed and pet. Had we known how wonderful this hotel was, we would have cut our stay in Auckland short one night so we could have had another night here.
