The central location near shops and attractions is a highlight, although parking can be tricky. Guests appreciate the spacious and modern rooms equipped with kitchens, though some have mentioned air conditioning and view issues.

Hotel's Favourite
From the warmest of welcomes from Karen at our check in to the farewell when we checked out, our stay at the Quest Rotorua was nothing short of exceptional. We were lucky enough to secure a one bedroom apartment and it had a real New York loft vibe with the huge windows in the lounge and stunning corner windows in the bedroom. I was surprised to find such extensive cooking and cleaning facilities in the apartment too, great to have options. The apartment was spotless and spacious and had every amenity you could want. House keeping staff were friendly and efficient. We really appreciated dining recommendations from Glenn and Karen and had outstanding meals, from French, Japanese, Thai and outstanding Pub meals all within walking distance from the Hotel as well as recommendations for activities too, which were spot on. We can’t recommend the Quest enough for an outstanding stay in Rotorua.

Great location and meticulously clean room - a rarity these days. Located in central Rotorua, this hotel had a large apartment style room with full kitchen , washer , dryer, separate bedroom , bathroom and balcony with huge spa bath. Everything you need is within easy walking distance (the Cafe De Paris a few doors up should also be on your radar for coffee and food) . Parking is easy once you work out the meters and signs. If you check in just after 2, you can find a 3 hour meter ( $1NZ per hour) and that will take you through until 9am the next day. Just check the signs in the street as some sections are 1 hour , some are 3 ) We left the car in the street overnight without any issues.

I haven't kept count, but this was between our seventh and tenth visit to Rotorua... and every time we stayed at a different place.
When I booked the room, I thought it looked as good as anything else we've stayed in before (excluding the horrible experience we had at Sudima Lake Hotel).
The reception was efficient and very friendly.
Soon after we settled into our room, we discovered a slight problem. When I contacted reception, they apologised and offered to move us into a similar room on a different floor. The manager coordinated everybody necessary to make our transition into the other room a smooth experience.
In the past, when I pointed out something wrong with a room, people tended to become defensive; one woman at a B&B in in South Africa became downright nasty.
But at Quest the experience was the opposite--everybody remained just as friendly as they were before... and that lasted throughout our stay.
Now on to the room. Our room was a Director's Suite, which had a separate bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen/lounge/dining area, as well as a private deck.
The room was as clean as that of a five star hotel room. And the towels in the bathroom were both bigger and plusher than the ones in our room in the Pullman.
Quest Apartment Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the shopping mall, Eat Street, and many other conveniences.
This was easily one of the very best stays we've ever had in Rotorua... so much so that we won't need to find another place to stay for our next visit. We will simply return to Quest Apartment Hotel.
Thanks, team, for making this an unforgettable experience.

Accommodations were clean, smart, great kitchen set-up, washer/dryer combo was a huge benefit. Our first day was fantastic!
Day two, the weather started hitting the low 80's. The first day of hot weather hit 82 degrees. The apartment we were in was cool in the morning, and as we knew it was going to be hot, we closed the curtains upon our departure and turned the A/C to 21 degrees. Upon our return, the A/C was turned off, the curtains were now open, and the apartment was blazing hot. We closed the curtains and turned the AC back on at 20. The AC just didn't do the job. It was sweltering in there all night.
The next day we hung the do not disturb sign, closed the curtains, put the A/C at 21, and went out for the day. Upon arriving home, the A/C was blowing warm air. We called the desk and were told that everything was fine, that the A/C was working, and there was nothing they could do about it, and Oh BTW it was a hot day here. (Our first hint of an undersized system that cannot handle a full house on a hot day.) Instead of the room getting cooler, the room got even warmer as the evening went on, and more guests were coming back to their rooms and turning on the A/C .
By morning , the room was somewhat cooler, and we repeated the actions of the day before. Again, the room was stifling upon our return. Calling the desk gave us a room fan, but they said that the system was fine, there was nothing to be done, and there were no rooms on the cool side of the building for us to move to.
TIPS: 1. Don't stay here in summer.
2. If you stay here, get a room on the street facing front (south), or east facing
side of the building. Do NOT stay in a room with western exposure.
3. Do not expect the A/C to blow cold air on a hot day with a nearly fully
booked hotel.
4. "System is fine, nothing is wrong" seems to be their attitude. They didn't
even come up to see how warm the room was, they didn't check our A/C unit
(just the central display for it at their office), and they cannot admit a
problem exists, so you can be darn sure they aren't looking for a solution.
5. "Nothing can be done".... Nope they won't be doing anything to solve the
issue. So you just have to live with it because they have already accepted
defeat, and so should you!

Dear Redcayenne We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your Executive Studio Apartment with Balcony and hot tub. For the in-room air-conditioning to function, the guest key card needs to be in the power socket. We take every guest concern seriously and would like to let you know what was happening behind the scenes during your stay. As soon as you advised us that your air-conditioning was not functioning to your satisfaction, we were concerned that the coil for the unit that supplies air-conditioning to the floor might have a serious issue. The unit was inspected, revealing no leaks or problems. However, these issues can be challenging to identify, so to further check the system we contacted other guests on your floor to verify the status of their air-conditioning; all advised they were happy, and their air-conditioning was working fine. The system was reset from our master controller and your room was checked in your absence, confirming it was working correctly. Despite the hotel being fully booked during your stay, no other guests reported issues with the air-conditioning. Nevertheless, we arranged for a technician to attend on the morning of your departure to recheck for any issues we may have missed, including a thorough examination of the unit in your apartment. The technician could not find any faults. Kind regards The Quest team

We really enjoyed our 3 night here. The staff were extremely helpful. Our apartment was immaculate, very comfortably furnished, and the location was perfect. We stayed in room 201. We had a/c units in both the bedroom and living room. The kitchen had everything we could want, including a full size refrigerator and freezer (very important to us for making ice for our cooler). The washer & dryer worked great - drying wet clothes in about 30 minutes. We were happy to find that we also had a full-size hot tub on the balcony and plenty of hot water to fill it. The location enabled us to walk to everything we wanted to visit in town. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great option for a family stay! The apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen; laundry and dry machine; living room and bedroom. All well spaced. The hotel is well located and staff is great! We were able to get our breakfast, and cook small meals, good for a change for KOT always have to go to restaurants.

We had a great experience with every staff member we spoke with. Our room was clean. The off street parking option was great. The hotel is close to restaurants, a grocery store and local attractions such as the Polynesian Spa and the Gathering Place. Its proximity to the Rotorua lake means it also has some of the sulphur smell that the lake has. Our room had air fresheners and they even gave me an extra one, which was very kind. Just something to be aware of if you choose to stay here.

Dear Frauminertravels Thank you for sharing your positive experience! We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your understanding of the occasional sulfur smell in the air, which is a natural occurrence due to the geothermal activity in the area. The hotel is run by a franchise group and to us the people running the hotel were not customer focused. Our room was on a lower level and we asked if we could move to one with a better view as we were staying 6 nights, the person we talked to did not even ask what room we were in and went on and on and on about how they do not offer rooms with a view, she did not have the courtesy to look at the bookings to see what was available. It was a long and painful conversation, and I was convinced they have a no room change policy but did not want to state this. They present a room with a decent view on the hotel’s website, a much better view than we had. I can accept when there is no availability for a room change but cannot accept a request being dismissed without any consideration.
We were pushed into paying for parking at the rear of the hotel and after using the allocate space for a couple of nights we started to park on the street, the allocated parking at the rear of the hotel was in an area we did not feel comfortable in.
Our room had the facilities we wanted, and it was tidy and clean but we were disappointed with the way the hotel is managed.

Dear Baxt304 We were sorry to hear of your experience at the hotel. It’s unfortunate that we were unable to accommodate your request as we were fully booked on the night. As a small hotel our apartments fill quickly, and our staff member would have been aware of occupancy. Being in the city centre we are surrounded by buildings and do not have views. Parking on-site is limited and subject to availability. We’re sorry you felt unsafe. Our parking is covered by CCTV cameras. Our fabulous location has the added benefit of being able to walk to many of Rotorua's fantastic restaurants, cafe's, parks and local attractions. Kind regards The Quest team

The apartment at Quest Rotorua fully met our expectations. With dishwasher, hob, kettle and toaster were the most important things for cooking available. The apartment was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, you can not ventilate the room, so it takes some time for the cooking smell to disappear despite the trigger.

We stayed at The Quest apartments for two nights. Unfortunately the lift was out of order so we had to take a ground floor unit and it had no view. I have a mobility problem so cannot use stairs. We were told before booking that this was the case and the accommodation we were given was otherwise perfect. It is refurbished with a king sized bed, dish washer, top loading washing machine and tumble dryer. The oven and hob are electric, new and spotlessly clean, as was everything. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we had nothing at all to find fault with. It pays to take the optional car park space though, as parking outside isn't easy and if you manage to get a spot, there is a 60 minute limit. All in all, a great place to stay, centrally located and much, much better than a motel. We would definitely stay there again.
