We booked the studio room which is downplayed on the website description. We were thrilled with it and pleased to find something when we booked last minute for the New Year period. We enjoyed a tender lamb roast we made in the steam oven. Facilities are well maintained . If we wanted to find a niggle, our shower did not have hot water and apparently a plumber was difficult to source over the holidays. We were happy with a cold shower or used very good main campground showers. It just would have been nice to have been told this on check in.
We found this site via CamperMate, where talk about digging your own spa, viewing boiling mud and a private hot water beach. Non of these can be found! They do have three small hot pools, but even those facilities are outdated. Finally I would not call it cozy. BUT it is quite close to town, so a convenient location.
Stayed here because it was close to my friend’s house to visit. Turned out to be a great location, very short walk to private area of Rotorua lake, plenty of thermal activity around! Some great hot pool and great clean facilities. Would definitely stay again.
In comparison to other parks we stayed during a two week tour of NZ, the Cosy Cottage was somewhat below average. We had a powered site for our motor home, and the site was quite small. The amenities were old and could do with a refresh. There were a number of kitchen appliances and bathroom amenities out of order. The location was adequate being 5 min drive from town, but the area was rundown. Look around before you book. It may be better in the summer with close lake access.
Great place just bad location. Takes about 25 minutes to walk to the city centre. Apart from that is got a lot of facilities to use. They have got baths, and plenty of showers and toilets to use. The rooms also have cooking facilities.
