we are a senior couple (80's)..Had a great en suite room facing right on the courtyard. Most of the visitors were much younger than us, and we felt like their grandparents. Great sun room for reading, good parking, comfortable kitchen. Visited Funky twice during the three months we were in NZ. this is a great place to relax and the owner Gerard was hilarious, his wife anya is also very welcoming. we stayed here for about 2 weeks and loved every second. It is clean, has good quality accomodation at a reasonable price and on my return to rotorua in the future this is the first port of call!

Clean, wonderfully kept place to relax. Loved the kitchen, which is nice and big and bright. Clean bathrooms, too! Helpful staff, and yes, Gerard, the owner, is shall we say, an original. But my hat is off to the guy. I've seen lots of hostels. Very few are this well run. Can't wait to return to show my new husband around. Karin from Germany ;o)

We stayed in a double room here which was clean and a good size. What ruined the place for us was the owner who was abrupt, sarcastic and liked the sound of his own voice - all of which was demostrated during a 5 min check in. It is close to town, has a nice garden and internet facilties over the road. Beer fridge is a great idea.

Great spot.......New Zealand is beautiful, i would love to return. Funky Green Voyager is very friendly and warm. Take advantage of the honor beer fridge. Great place to relax for a while and take a load off. Very clean with helpful staff.
