Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Decent sized room with comfortable bed. The heated pool is great. The gym was small and difficult to find but well equipped. We ate at the hotel on two nights and the buffet was excellent. Breakfast was quite expensive and we preferred a cafe close by for coffee and a pastry.

Great place to stay near the Pohoki Geyser. Bit out of town but nice and quiet. had a mix up with breakfast booking and staff took care of it quickly and with no problem. Great service. Only stayed one night for an activity that was cancelled..

Newly refurbished room and bathroom, I think the hotel is in the process of updating all rooms, lovely comfy bed and linens. Room is well equipped with a kettle / Nespresso type machine, fridge, iron and ironing board. The hotel is a drive away from any shops / restaurants, as at November 2023 the breakfast is NZD39 per person and dinner buffet is 65NZD, as per a lot of hotels in New Zealand there is a 2% charge if you use a credit card or foreign debit card, cash is accepted and there is no charge for using it. Parking is free onsite and the surrounding roads.

We had a wonderful time. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. We were able to walk over to the Māori Village and everything else that we wanted to see. The facilities were clean and the pool and hot tub were well kept. We enjoyed a little time in the hot tub in the rain.

We stayed at Rydges Rotorua on Nov 1st for business. This review is about how excellent the a la carte dinner was. Firstly we had Allister look after us and he was extremely caring - nothing was a problem, he gave excellent advice and was very patient, can't say enough about him, even later in the evening when we came back for desert to be sent to the room. The lamb shank was absolute perfection, as were the vegetables fresh. If you stay here, definitely have dinner, they obviously know what they are doing in the kitchen.

5 Year Weeding Anniversary $1028.00 for 2 nights.. Thought I would splash out, that was a mistake. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE... HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING!! DELUXE BALCONY KING ROOM , TOP DOLLAR,suppose to be their top tier room, I would hate to see the cheaper rooms.... Definitely not for couples looking for a romantic getaway. 4 - 4.5 star - I'm not sure who hands out the stars but they must be vision impaired? Tiny Rooms, Tiny bath tub (good size for a kid or puppy, big people beware) Don't be fooled by the pictures, Pool and rooms certainly look spectacular in their photos, that's as far as it goes, Gym about the size of a wardrobe. $514 a night you get... - Tiny KING ROOM - Tiny Bath Tub - Very Leaky shower tap (Joint shower and Bath) - Old shower curtains like your Nana had. - Old shower head like Nana had. - One of those old suction bath mats like nana had . - two hot chocolate sachets, wouldn't want to break profit margins I guess. - bath robes yuck, not even those nice thick fluffy ones you would except for a $514 a night - Soap scum and hard water stains on the bath chrome. - Balcony view - FEAST YOUR EYSES ON the rusty/dirty backside of the hotel Kitchen, peeling paint, large chunk of concrete missing and cracks from the balcony above (hope it's earthquake safe) I am someone who doesn't mind paying good money for quality, but we are leaving feeling underwhelmed and ripped off. Suggestion to Rydges Rotorua 1. Customer experience should be your prime focus. 2. Invest profit back into the business. 2. Rydges corporation - regular auditing would be a good idea... First and last Rydges we,ve ever stayed in, Does not come close to many 4-5 star hotels we've stayed in before. We still have one night and our complementry breakfast to go, hopefully it improves, I will update in due course. Thanks for taking the time to read 🙂

Hi Roving46859220966 I'm sorry that your recent stay with us did not meet your expectations. We have a number of different rooms types, some of which may not have been available when you were searching for accommodation over the busy Labour Weekend. Had you spoken with our team during your stay we may have been able to offer you an alternate room. Regards Maureen

Rooms are spacious and comfortable, breakfast and dinner buffets are great for a bigger group of friends and family. There is a small kids play room and a heated pool, perfect for families with children. The laundromat was helpful for us who’s been traveling for a week. Very friendly services at the restaurant and bar.

We had one night at the Rydges Rotorua. The bedroom was fresh and updated and had all the usual facilities. The bed was very comfortable and had a good choice of pillows. Unfortunately, there was still left over rubbish in the bin and sweets under the bed from the previous occupant. Breakfast was great with a lots of choice and space to eat. The food was regularly replenished and the area was kept clean. The heated outdoor pool area was a bonus at the end of a long day. The hotel is a bit out of town and we had a long walk into the centre for dinner; however, it is close to a few other local attractions. Check out was quick, although we were not asked about our stay etc.

We always enjoy staying at the Rydges Hotels around NZ and Rotorua is no exception! We had two nights here this week and are back for another two nights next week (on our way to and from other areas). Here's why we recommend the Rydges Rotorua and why we'll be back each time: - the customer service is exceptional: front desk, restaurant, cleaning team, security. Everyone we've bumped into or asked questions of have been so friendly and helpful. - the room is clean, comfortable and the beds are soooo comfortable! Even the pillows are comfortable and quality! - great to have aircon and wifi that is quick and easy to connect to. Bonus that you can easily cast your own Netflix or Disney account to the tv in the room too! - the pool area is fabulous. It's clean and well maintained and the water uses geothermal heating - I think the pool is at 27 degrees. They also have two separate spas. There's a lovely grass area and plenty of seating, tables and recliners. You can even get table service to your table poolside during the day by ordering from your table using the QR code - just fantastic service! - the buffet breakfast is excellent. Great selection of fruits, cereals, juices, coffee, pastries and cooked breakfasts including hotcakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and other hot variations of breakfast foods. - the dinner buffet is a bit expensive but a good choice of seafoods/salads/meats/pastas/veges/curry/rice and the dessert buffet was an absolute knock-out with the kids and adults alike! - good laundry self-service as well as options for dry cleaning. Even has a gift shop. Honestly - you can stay at the hotel and not need to leave which is brilliant. It's location is great too - handy to local attractions like the Redwoods and Motion Entertainment and just a 20 minute drive from Skyline Luge and other awesome attractions in the area. I think you can hire mountain bikes (I could be wrong) which is awesome too as there are so many tracks in Rotorua to explore. Already looking forward to another visit next week, we've found our favourite Rotorua spot :)
