We have lived and worked in the hospitality industry for many years having previously run our own 5 Star Lodge. So we are very particular about ambience and service. Yes, this lodge is over 30 years old and reflects the style , architecture and age of its 1980s period so if you are looking for modern opulence then this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy unpretentious excellent service, fine food, spacious and comfortable accommodation, breathtaking views, peace and privacy, then this is definitely for you. Bonuses include the complimentary well stocked in-room bar, excellent menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner beautifully prepared by their in-house chefs, together with attentive service. Complimentary kayaking from their private jetty provides an excellent opportunity to explore the lake region and lagoons - and provides explanation for the swan silhouette in their logo. Not to mention the numerous walking tracks lined by an abundance of native birds. Truly magical stay and strongly recommended.…
From the moment we arrived & throughout our entire stay we experienced top class personalised service from the hosts & staff. We had the Tarawera suite which was amazing & with stunning views. The food was impressive as was the wine selection. The romantic setting they provided at my fiancé’s request was touching, thank you. We highly recommend & will return again.
My wife & I decided to do something a bit different, so after a bit of research we decided on Solitaire Lodge, when we arrived at this stunning private Sanctuary we were greeted by our host Wayne, he was very welcoming and very knowledgeable on the lodge & local area, we were shown to our room and that’s when the Wow factor truly started, our room was next level luxury with a stunning view of the lake, but it was the service that was truly amazing, we were there only 1 night but felt part of the family, they went above and beyond expectations, a special shout out to Michael & Joy for making our stay so memorable, we will definitely be returning but next time for 2 nights and oh did I mention the food wow wow wow!! Thank you Maria, David & Gary and also recommend doing the Tarawera Thermal Springs trip just a 15min boat ride away…
What an amazing experience with the hosts and great chefs! Went fly fishing that was a load of fun. The food is awesome. The rooms beautifully. I will definitely recommend this to anyone and would want to come back again and again. The lake is great.
Chose to spend 3 nights here with our teen/young adult sons when our family trip to Oz was cancelled due to covid. Location great- fab views and warm, spacious, very comfortable room. All inclusive tariff suited us perfectly - such a treat after a day of activity to come back to the lodge and chill/ be looked after. Wayne and Ingrid very welcoming and relaxed hosts, Michael -service exceptional. Thanks so much!
