Great venue for a business conference. Food was amazing and they even catered well for gluten free dietary requirements- well done! Majority of the staff were friendly and very helpful, only one encounter with one not so helpful. View of the lake when eating was neat too.

We were here in 2020 and my review then was it needed upgrading albeit in Lockdown. Sad to say but its hasnt gotten better. Location is one of the best with lake views and at the doorstep to Eat Street. Carparking is plentiful and free if you sign up to Accord membership. However the hotel is a shadow of its former glory. Chipped floor tiles and heavily scratched stainless doors in the lift. We booked 2 rooms with 1 room with twin single beds however apparently the hotel only has King size doubles. The room on 5th floor was old with carpet stained, dirty and past its usable life. Lighting was distinctly lacking and reliant on bedside wall lights and desk lamps. There are USB ports for charging phones, etc. The glass door fridge comes with fresh milk in a glass bottle (nice) and a selection of Dilmah teas, instant coffee & hot choc. The WIFI is fast but unsecured but the big screen TV includes most SKY channels. The bathroom is sadly where a urgent upgrade is needed. From the suspended ceiling grid with 1980s vinyl faced tiles to the Health & Safety hazardous bath requiring climbing into for a very narrow shower experience with 1980s shower curtain. Every metal fitting eg. taps, pull out drying cable fittings, hooks, toilet roll holder, etc are tarnished or rusting. Our vitreous china basin was chipped and white mould was visible on the timber cabinet below. The extract fan barely worked with steamed up mirror needing 10 minutes to be visible. The room aircon rattled but at least the thermostat control was working as it was 5 deg outside. On the plus side, it was quiet & comfortable with sofa and armchair. Breakfast was good but not extensive but did have a make your own juicing machine. Coffee is OK through a automatic machine but not quite espresso. Talking to the staff, renovations are planned however the issue was getting approval from multiple owners. Hopefully it will be soon.

Room on the second floor overlooking the city. It is in need of refurbishing and looks tired, but it was warm and comfortable. Room was quiet. Pillows great and we had a good sleep. Breakfast was decent, the usual hotel selection and the waiting staff worked hard. I would recommend.

1. Complimentary milk - It has become like cheese due to old or not clean bottle. Do not drink milk if you stay. It is dangerous. 2. So dusty carpet- disgusting 3. Toilet? Horribly disgusting. 4. We have booked for 4 people but only 2 towels were ready in room. Why??? I paid $277.08 for one night for four people, but i really feel waste money for this terrible hotel. Never visit here again in my life. Not recommend here.

Possibly the rudest, most sexist encounter I’ve ever had the displeasure of having at a hotel. I was being served by a lovely team member. Unfortunately they were short staffed and despite arriving after check in time the room was not ready. I had accepted this in good humour, but unfortunately the male check-in ‘manager’ stepped in unnecessarily and was unbelievably rude. He went back to the start of the process totally unnecessarily, implied I was trying to check in too soon “of course the room isn’t available” (it was about 4pm). Then he actually looked me up and down and with a clear sneer on his face said I could have a lesser room without a refund for the extra charge for our upgrade. I was honestly so shocked, upset, humiliated and angry to be treated in the manner. This man shouldn’t be talki g to customers. The room was passable, nothing special, and we were given 1 towel for the family, even when we asked for more. They were clearly short staffed but to insult customers and take your frustrations out on them is appalling.

Lovely location handy to restaurants and shopping. The rooms are a good size but bathrooms need an upgrade. General cleanliness in all public areas a little lacking. For example I noticed even the corridors heeded vacuuming and the restaurant floors not so spic n span. To be fair they were very busy with lots of events all happening at the same time, but that’s the job your in. Very pleasant staff in all departments. Very nice bar and selection of beverages. The front desk seemed understaffed at times. Pool and Spa area could do with some attention. Still a pleasant stay.

This hotel enjoys a privileged location, facing Rotorua's spectacular lake. I was very well taken care of by Ms. Madison, and maintenance worker Mr. Kayden. The hotel is old and poorly maintained by management. It urgently needs a renovation, an updated with repairs in all areas. I did not sleep in my first night, the mattress had a depression in the middle, the next day I had severe back pain. The room had a beautiful view, but old with old furniture. The bathroom is small, low light, weak shower, water does not heat properly and amenities are poor. Breakfast is another disappointment, few quality options and poorly presented. The fitness room and pool are small, the mineral tubs are always filling up, and the water is never hot enough. Thanks to Mr. Kayden, Thanks to Mr. Kayden, who fixed the clock and TV in the room, put a wooden board on the bed in the other room they moved me to and thanks to the duty manager, who was sensitive. I do not recommend.

Internationally the Novotel brand enjoys a high reputation for comfort, modernity and medium to high quality services. This is not the case in the Rotorua hotel. It is tired looking, is in need of renovation. The bed was not comfortable, bedding and pillows need replacing, bathroom dates back to the 90's if not earlier. We ordered room service burger and toasted sandwich, both drowned in chips, burger patty had seen better days but the service was quick. Staff were very good however busy reception area with only one staff member is probably a reflection of the times, where staff are hard to find. Would recommend the chain owners should invest in renovating the hotel as it is located in a super spot, enjoys great views of the lake and near lots of wonderful restaurants. Too expensive for what is delivered.
