This is a very clean hotel and the staff were super friendly. Our room was spacious, the shower had excellent water pressure and the bed was the most comfortable we've ever slept in at a hotel. The air con worked well and there was a heated pool. There are several restaurants onsite serving breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in close proximity to the Polynesian Spa and the Sulphur Point walkway, which is nice for an evening or morning stroll. We stayed here on a package for two nights, breakfasts and a $30 restaurant credit for $339 which we considered to be excellent value.
Once again, I booked an Awaytogo deal for The Millennium Rotorua. And once again, I was not let down. 2 great stays, at the same hotel? Yep. The hotel is showing its age, but the staff more than overcome this. And the pool. Wellllll, kids can not get enough of it. Expect to spend time here with small children. Like we did. The beds are about the best I have slept on, in the places I have stayed at before. Even if the rooms are a bit dated. Like another guest said to me. "Awaytogo made it cheaper than family camping. With breakfast added for free." The food here was really good too. We did not eat out much.
A quite bizarre and unpleasant incident occurred to us. We had a spa appointment after our checkout time from the hotel so we came back to the hotel for this a bit later. Duty Manager came to us in the lobby and indicated that we were trespassing as we had already checked out. She proceeded to ask us out. We explained about the spa appointment; she right away replied that the appointment had been cancelled on account of Vaccine Pass issues. Yet, she had not asked to see the Vaccine Passes (we are fully vaxxed, paperwork in order). We left and, from the car on our way out of town, we called the Spa directly to get their version. Contrary to what te Duty Manager told us, they indicated that they had no knowledge of appointment being cancelled. This is so too bad as this had been a pleasant 4-day stay and the rest of the staff were quite friendly. The Spa treatment would have been so nice. We have never left a poor rating for a hotel but the arrogant, unfriendly, deceitful and aggressive attitude exhibited by the Duty Manager certainly warrants it. She ruined it for her colleagues who were friendly and were just great.…
We chose a Lake facing room with breakfast included. We were given a room on the 5th floor. We loved the view from the room with the sound of sea gulls in the distance. This hotel is very near Polynesian Spa. We loved the room - very clean and huge bed. Two things though - 1 the air conditioning is not strong - I think it is only a fan. Good thing we can open the door that leads to the balcony to let in fresh air. 2 The fridge too is just a chiller. Something to keep in mind if ever you bring food that may spoil. We also loved the breakfast by the pool. Lots of selection. We tried the pool once - lovely heated pool. Our only suggestion is to have a water station nearby because the pool is very warm. The hotel garden is very lovely too.
These are strange times! With Auckland in total lockdown and restrictions everywhere, we took a chance and booked a holiday here. Very few guests, so some facilities were closed, but all the friendly staff worked to make sure our stay was pleasant. Special thanks to Irihapeti, who looked after us so well. Everything was very clean, and there were protocols to keep us all safe and well. The lovely warm pool was just right, and so were the crystal clear hot pools. Meal choice was a bit less than usual, but there was still plenty of delicious food. With the terrible weather we experienced, we were grateful to have a safe and warm haven to relax and enjoy, and a lovely lake view to look at. And the bed was very comfortable too!
