I stayed here for two nights in June as part of a six week tour of NZ. Sarah, who runs the hostel, couldn't be nicer or more welcoming! However the first night I was there, only one other person was staying, and the second night it was just me, which I felt was such a shame. Rotorua was a bit touristy for me to be honest, two nights was enough, but I was glad to have stayed at the Oasis - the place was immaculately clean and tidy, the common areas were very well kept, free unlimited PC use in the lounge, powerful hot shower in the bathroom, comfy beds, tennis courts outside, cheap to do your laundry... I really hope this place gets busier!

We stayed in a double room for 3 nights and got a discount for staying the 3rd. The room, living room and kitchen were clean and tidy. Very comfortable beds and the pillows were like luxurious hotel pillows! Table, chair, mirrow and closet for your clothes inside the room, which was nice. Free FAST internet, which we could use as much as we liked. It is a 10min walk into city centre, through the interresting thermal activity park. (Can't remember the name). It is a quiet area, so you get a good night's sleep after you come home from the pub. The sweet lady running the place greeted us happily every morning, and gave us discount vouchers and recommended places to go.

Located on a quiet street near the Aquatic centre and opposite the park, it's only a ten minute walk to the centre of town.
After lengthy research this seemed to be the cheapest place to stay in town.
We stayed in a double with shared facilities. The room was basic and clean. There were only eight people staying that night so there wasn't much atmosphere but it was great to have lots of space.
The kitchen has everything you need and there is both indoor and outdoor eating areas. The common room is large with lots of seating.
There's also free WiFi and computers there too. (WiFi just about worked from our room too)
Overall a good stay but just ensure you allow 15 minutes to check out as it was very slow to get our key deposit money back.

I stayed in 5 hostels making my way across the North Island and this was definitely the best one of the 5. Clean, large kitchen, free wifi in the rooms & a fantastic staff. Laundry facility were also clean and reasonably priced. Many older people & not just the 18-23 year age group.

Went there this December with family and had good stay all together. They have pretty well equipped kitchen, series of bathrooms, a large common area and high speed internet.
Only thing I would suggest to my readers is be careful with the room you book and beds they have. The all beds in my room had shaky frame and were uncomfortable.
I hope this help and please give a thumbs up
Thanks

Host was very nice. Place is clean and the kitchen is pretty complete with the utensils. Got a pool table if you are bored. You can also book some activities through them and they are happy to do it for you.

The hostel was clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Our kids enjoyed the tennis, soccer table and free wifi. Sauna was not working. Kitchen had everything you need for cooking. Staff were helpful for booking things and you get a discount if you book through them rather than directly. A quiet, basic hostel that for the money was a great place to stay.

Finally a hostel where the owners have some common sense with the interior. Clean carpets and nice bright colors, and most of all, it was reassuringly clean all around. The lounge area is nicely separated from the rooms, allowing you to chat, browse the web and watch tv until late without disturbing the other guests.
One of the better hostels yet!
