My friends and i embarked on a trip to explore Rotorua and chose this establishment to retire from a good days venturing. Upon arrival the Asian women that ran the reception greeted us with a "you must pay surcharge, you have 5 peoooople." (we encountered a friend on the trip down). besides the informal greeting we parted ways with our money to receive a very unclean motel room, complete with a long black hair in the bathroom and resident spider clinging from the refrigerator. in short, good value for the 160 dollars for a 2 bedroom unit, good location. poor service skills from both of the Asian people that run this establishment. Also don't expect to fall asleep unless highly intoxicated, the beds would give a rock a run for its money.

Spacious enough, WiFi very slow. Room wasn't cleaned for three days, dishes dirty upon arrival. Very inflexible, wouldn't allow a 30 min later checkout without payment...
And the pillows are horrible and bed uncomfortable, a not very pleasant stay.

Do not believe the photos that you see on the net when we arrived it was shabby but we thought never mind but when we went to go to bed there was a nest of mosquito's down the corner of the wall over the bed so we did not sleep there the pool was slimy no phone one night is enough for us when I went to pull the knives and forks out for tea I was so shocked you could see two of knives had been used for burning drugs

It's under new management so things advertised on the boards like Sky and free wifi is no longer available. This however didn't bother us. We were upgraded to a bigger room at no cost which I thought was great since we did book for 2 adults and 2 children under 6 years of age. The private mineral pool went down well with the kids. The kids were offered chocolate when we checked in which I was very grateful for after a long drive this made the boys happy. Our room was well stocked with coffee, tea etc which wasn't in the form of sachets. The water pressure for the shower is the only downfall as it trickles out. At the end of the day it was well worth what we paid for a 4 day stay. Definitely will stay there again.

Was recommended this motel by I-Site as a last-minute available room. At first we were just happy to find somewhere and were happy to pay the $160. The room was BIG, too big for our family of four (two bedrooms - enough beds for 9 people). On closer observation, we found that the toilet had been used and not flushed; the suphur smell was particularly overpowering as the water exhaust vent was near one of our windows; the mineral pool was pretty average and was not open when it was supposed to be; the dishes all had to be prewashed before using (luckily the water was scolding-hot so we knew they were sterile after that); the fridge/freezer did not work and only discovered this the next morning when our food had already turned bad. We stayed in Rotorua the following night but opted for another establishment which was way cheaper and in all other ways superior. Overall, quite disappointed with Bel Aire.

good very impressed better than the reviews say it is cheap but good. We went to the reception excellent service and friendly staff. Room was very big and spacious. Was very close to supermarket and the entire room was very clean. Also just a stone's throw away from a fish 'n' chip shop and the mad butcher and also the grocer.
