My partner, toddler and I stayed in a deluxe one bedroom suite for two nights. At check in, the staff member was a pleasure to deal with and a credit to the company. Nothing was a problem, from extra towels to bedding arrangements etc.
The room we had selected was supposed to have a bed in the lounge but there was only a pull out couch, not an issue but it did mean we had to make the bed ourselves.
The spa in the bathroom was huge and very nice to relax in. Easy to fill as well.
We were in an upstairs room, in the middle of the complex and there was no noise from the road etc. Thankfully other guests were mindful that others were occupying rooms adjacent to them so there was no issues with noise at all.
The connecting property, Emerald Spa Motel, has a heated communal pool and self-service laundry (for a fee). The communal grounds at both properties are very well maintained and you could purposefully use them.
I had the opportunity to meet a couple of the cleaning staff when they came for the daily service whilst my family were napping. They were happy to swap towels and quickly change the rubbish bin. Again, both of these staff members were very friendly and professional.
The only thing that annoyed me was the shower pressure. The water dribbled out and there was more pressure in the bathroom sink than the shower. I was sure to let the staff know at check out and they advised they'd look into it.
Not that it affected us as the weather was mild but the lack of air con or central heating was surprising. I know it's not specifically advertised to have air con but most people expect this nowadays, especially from a "Heritage Collection" property. They supply a plug in fan and a heater but I don't think that would be enough in the middle of summer/winter. The overhead fan in the bedroom made a loud and unusual whirring noise and you wouldn't be able to sleep with that on as it was too noisy.
Slow wifi and if you were here for business you wouldn't be able to rely on it to get work done as it dropped out continuously too.
I don't want to dwell on these negative points as we had a pleasant stay overall. Just something for other travellers to be aware of.
P.S: Yes there was a sulphur smell - this is Rotorua after all. And yes the sulphur affects the chrome in the bathrooms etc but it does this everywhere in Rotorua. I found it frustrating that people complain of this in their reviews when the accommodation provider has no control over the matter.

Great location on the strip down to Lake Rotorua and close to everything. Staff were fantastic when we checked in and very helpful.
Room was big enough for two with a spa bath in the main bedroom along with a kitchenette which was fine if you wanted to microwave or boil a kettle but nothing else.
No AC but a centre mounted circulating fan to help you out but as it wasn’t too hot when we were there it wasn’t really needed.
TV was a disaster and couldn’t get a signal

We stayed at Tuscany Villas, Rotorua for 1 night while visiting the area and was very impressed. It is new, very clean and very comfortable, advertised as executive suites with kichenettes and spa baths in each room - the spa bath was huge and loads of big fluffy white towels. Breakfast is served to you in your room, this a arrived promptly and was good. There is lots to do in Rotorua and I would have liked to have stayed longer. We visited Te Puia the geothermal valley and Pohutu geyser which was very interesting and a Mauri cultural show. For our evening meal we ate at Herbs which was ok but not our first choice. There are quite a few interesting restaurants with menus that looked good but they stop serving quite early about 9.30ish which was disappointing. The next day we had lunch at the Fat Dog which is a great place.

Communication from this hotel was non existent. I emailed several times to enquire about the room booked and received NO reply. When we arrived we were told our request of a ground floor room was not available, crucial as my husband had a broken leg. There was no options offered and were then charged a cancellation fee. This also left us with no other accommodation booked for the night. When I questioned the cancellation fee (if they had replied to my email I would have cancelled well in advance) I was told by the male staff member that they had emailed me, this was untrue as I still have not received said email. NOT happy.

Wonderful welcome on Saturday evening, very informative and helpful receptionist and I thought I would be writing a 5* review! Good points were a comfortable bed! The room needs renovating as the carpet is worn, the bathroom is tired and the fridge was noisy and kept me awake all night. Made a booking for 2 rooms; our friends had a separate bedroom and a large seating area. We had one chair and no extra room. When I asked about this I was told that they had had a plumbing issue so probably had to move us. When I pointed out that it was their problem not mine and asked for a refund for the difference between the two rooms I was greeted with a very hostile response and a repeat of the plumbing problem. I was extremely upset and very unimpressed. I wouldn't go there again and certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I waited to reply, so June 2019 was the closest choice; we traveled May 2019. The check marks on the first part should say it all. The breakfast was a huge disappointment + receiving a bottle of milk when we registered was weird. The # of rooms ordered was not met; we were told that the number of beds were there - awkward. Rooms were definitely a strip-down area. Ok on the location.

I spend half my time traveling and have been to well over 60 countries. I’ve stayed in a wide range of accommodations, from hostels to 5 star hotels. Hands down, Tuscany Villas Motor Inn is bottom 5% in terms of customer experience/satisfaction by any measure across the range of accommodation types:
My nephew was visiting from the US. Along with my son, the 3 of us went on a road trip from Auckland to Rotorua. I had booked the 7pm tour of Tamaki Maori Village(awesome) which ended at 10pm. We arrived at Tuscany Villas at around 10:30pm looking forward to a good night’s sleep after a long day. I called the number displayed on the front door which instructed guests arriving after hours to call reception. After a tense conversation, the receptionist reluctantly agreed to let us check into a room that I had already paid for. She said that someone would be there in about 10 minutes. After waiting in the car for about 15 minutes, I called her again. It turns out she was on premise the whole time! I was already irate that she made us wait in the car(it was cold) for 15 minutes when she was there all along. The receptionist finally showed up and appeared to be under the influence of a substance, whether alcohol and/or otherwise. Not quite the modicum of professionalism, this person slurred her words, couldn’t seem to grasp why I was upset, appeared physically off balanced and mentally confused. Despite her compromised state, she still managed to be rude and abrasive.
The cleaning staff was rude. They pressured us to leave our room so they could clean even though we were booked in for that evening. Further, on the morning of checkout my nephew was unwell so I requested a late checkout for 1 additional hour to which the manager/owner replied with a curt “no”.
I am a seasoned traveler who has visited much of the world. I’ve never been treated this way by a supposed 4-star rated establishment(bookings.com) Shame on the manager/owner of this establishment. I strongly recommend visitors to avoid Tuscan Villas at all cost. They will profoundly regret it!
I hope the manager/owner makes systemic changes to Tuscan Villas’ operation.

Absolutely terrible. Dirty cups, carpet, chairs stains and no air-conditioning. Extremely disappointed. Large spa tub in the bathroom. Only some rooms have air conditioning. Needs to be updated. Toilet and bathroom dirty.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights this weekend. Although I have stayed Rotorua many times before, this is the first time I have stayed at this hotel and it was well worth it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are a good size with all of the amenities you could need for a short stay. All of the staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Free wifi was fantastic. There was a HUGE spa bath in the unit and lovely shower with fantastic water pressure. The part that I was most impressed with was the cleanliness. For me when choosing s hotel cleanliness is definitely the main thing I look for. It is one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at. The bathroom and spa bath, shower, basin, floor, bed ,carpet. Everything was lovely and it was obvious that they obviously set a high standard for there hotel rooms. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Rotorua.

This 2 bedroom Villa is by far the worst unit I have had the privilege to stay at with my grandchildren. Upon arrival the bin in the bathroom was full of trash. Bar Fridge full of old food. Their was no coffee or sugar. No phone in unit to call for more and when we called the staff felt put out to come and refill the box. Tried to use the Spa and it was broken and to make things worst my Daughter had a unit upstairs and her Spa was broken too. We called again and they said they would come and fix the Spa when they had time.
We stayed 3 days over school holidays. Day 2 cleaners came at 9 am. 9am that’s crazy. Very poor cleaning job. We had to provide our own trash bags. Absolutely useless. This place need a lot of training of staff.
Day 3 2.30am firer alarm went off and when it stopped no staff came to see if we were ok. In fact they didn’t check on anyone. The alarm went off 2 more times during the night and no checks. Very very poor customer care. And to finish off only one window and that’s the front door slider. No window in the bathroom or Second bathroom. I will never stay here again and will let all my friends know not to stay here. Terrible Service and care.

What can I say to that?-And not a single word mentioned to me! I will follow this up with the front office .We have a report book that all complaints are logged into...had I known it certainly would have been attended to. If the room had not been cleaned I can only assume you arrived early, but I will follow this up. With the school holidays, housekeeping do start their service rounds earlier to try and get through the 58 rooms, most families were appreciative of clean towels and top ups as they had run out from the night before.I do understand your plight and apologies again. No one supplies their own rubbish bags...housekeeping change that too. . The alarms did only go off the once, and as i walked around all guests were asked if they were ok. Alarms are deactivated only by the manager on duty, as I was only called out once, there clearly were no others. I would appreciate you calling me to discuss your review- as this is the first we have heard of it. I cant help but wonder if you were actually a guest here._judith

Hi Troy, we explained this in our management response. No-one has died in our motel. We think it may be a cooking odour, we have tried fixing the issue by having all the drapes, carpets, walls and fixtures cleaned. There is no longer a smell in this unit.
Hello. Depending on availability, a couple of our deluxe studios can have the superking bed split into 2 singles, but we have to know before your arrival day to do this.
Also we have 3 x 1 bedrooms that have a queen bed in the bedroom and a single bed in the lounge area. ( 1 bedroom spa suite for 3 when booking) if you want this configuration.
There are more places to choose from in the Rotorua area.
