Stayed here for 3 nights, luckily didnt have any problems, arrived as our 2 bed room was being cleaned. This is not a 5 star hotel, as they say on their website, Saying that, it was ok. Staff were polite with us, the rooms were clean and pool area etc. It was a base to rest for us, road a bit busy and noisy at times. Would rate this property as 2 star ( just being realistic). Maybe owners need to be shown a 5 star property.

We stayed in the ex-caretakers quarters which is more like a house than a motel unit. The living area and bedrooms were very spacious but the kitchen facilities and crockery etc did not meet our expectations. The level of service could be higher too (we were told to park somewhere that was actually not correct; there was rubbish in the bathroom cupboard; only half a roll of toilet paper was provided for a booking of 4 adults for 2 nights which was not replenished when the room was serviced during our stay). Overall we were disappointed with our accommodation choice in Rotorua.

We were very happy with the 2 bed apartment we ended up with as the studios were all unavailable. It was clean & the bed was comfortable but the highlight was the hot mineral pool which we soaked in each evening, what a treat. Easy walk, 10 mins, to the main shops

So my partner and I recently visited the lodge. On a much needed basis where we needed an amazing night away from home ,we were drawn to the advertisements of these amazing looking rooms , thermal heating and an amazing stay.Unfortunately this was by far not the case. The receptionist was as lovely as ever but thats where our experience ends. The bathroom was filthy and bath was filled with someone elses hair.YUCK!!The bed was disgusting with hair throughout it.Mattress was uncomfortable we could feel uneven bulging springs. The pillows were uneven and horrible to sleep on.The pillows and sheets were stained yellow. The blanket was as thin as a piece of paper. Our room was horribly cold.the included heating system didnt work. Then to our happiness we found the bed had heated sheets.but that excitement was soon ruined as it only had it on one side. The tv was hard to enjoy as it was falling off the cabinet it was placed on.the picture quality was horrible and just to have some enjoyment to the tv we had to place it on an ironing board. The constant humming of vehicles too disrupted our much needed rest substantially.I am in utter dissapoiment not only at the lack of cleaniless , but also the lack of support in rooms for our hygiene purposes. The fact that this lodge does not follow the strict guidelines set out for for Covid 19 by government is appaling.
I am sad to say i would have rathet slept in a ditch road side than spend $90 for a horrible and uncomfortable experience. What an utter waste of not only our rare precious time we have but our money also.

worst stay ever !! We had an excellent new zealand trip which last 20 days with excellent stays at all places booked through booking .com except rotorua . One the worst places we have ever stayed and a total trap of almost 900 dollars for 3 nights . Very poorly kept and several broken down areas . Nothing close to the photos uploaded on the website . Sad that booking.com has kept such properties on their list . We actually checked out a day earlier as it was our anniversary and christmas, and checked into another superb location in rotorua as the children could not last in this pathetic property for another day . Despite being unhappy we had to do double booking for the same date and were not even refunded the amount paid at malfroy lodge . The owner also lied about us leaving for Auckland earlier whereas we just checked into another property in rotorua itself through booking.com . Stay away from this property . I believe it has changed hands and the new owner is the reason for the downfall .

We arrived and l;eft 10 minutes later, this place is awful, nothing like the photos on this website or booking.com, there were no bulbs in the bathroom, there was a standard lamp instead, plugged into the wall in the kitchen, toilet and sink were disgusting. All the kitchen appliances were dirty and smelly. I contacted booking.com and they couldn't get hold of the owner, so couldn't do anything, I suggested they take it of their website but its still there with the same pictures. I contact the hotel for a refund, they replied 'no refund', if you value your health DO NOT book this accomodation

Worst experience ever! Reception didn’t look at me when I walked in, continued On his phone as he gave me my key. Showed me where my room was and told me to park anywhere. I walked in to the room and was devastated. Mould, it smelled so bad it made me sick, no towels, toilet broken. I didn’t want to touch anything let alone sleep on anything. The beds are so low to the floor they might as well just be a mattress on the floor. I can’t comment on if it’s comfy because I touched nothing! I made the joke that i better not fall on the ground if I sit on the toilet as it looked like it wasn’t attached to the wall. My 81 year old mother used it, just about fell off, came out refusing to stay there in case of injury. We are NOT fussy. We sleep in cars, shared facilities, hike use long drops etc. for $220 it was a complete rip off. I would pay $50 max to stay there. Went back to reception and he wouldn’t even look at me at all. He expected a complaint, he refused a refund and told me to contact booking.com. All while never looking at me once! When they contacted him he told them what I said was all wrong and refused a refund. Rubbish all over property, pool empty, photos on website must be photoshopped because it is run down and dirty. How they can justify charging $220 for one night is disgusting. I’m gutted I didn’t take photos before taking the key back

We were visiting for a romantic weekend away to find we had been catfished big time. I booked here through booking.com and they were advertising with beautiful photos, advertised a spa and pool etc, this was not the case. As approaching the motel on the road with the gps, we were hoping by outside looks it was not the place we had booked, unfortunately it was. We had been told earlier that the key was inside the room already and to just enter when we arrived. We did. The inside wasn't much better than the outside. Very dated, the photos look like they were taken 20 years ago. Luckily for us we only booked 1 night and we had plans out late in the evening and early in the morning. Pink mold in the bathroom, the linen and towels all were stained and gross, carpet is very worn, to the point of threads, blinds were greasy to touch, in general the place looks like it needs a thorough good clean, and updating the rooms is necessary. I wouldnt recommend staying here! Better to pay a bit more and get better quality.

This place is nothing like they portray in the photo's. Its run down, dirty and do not stay here! We were scammed into thinking it would be a nice place but it was not even safe and was inhabitable. We ended up walking out because I became unwell from the stench in the room. The owner/manager was incredibly rude and took our full payment before we arrived and has not yet replied to a single email or call. Check all the reviews to verify this is true.

The place was filthy dirty, it was dusty, needed vacuuming, kitchen cupboard doors were dirty, the pillow cases were old & stained & pillows disgusting we actually went to Kmart & brought pillows & pillow cases, shower was mouldy & dirty & still had hair, soap & hair tie from previous guests, had to clean it ourselves before using, (wish we took photos) We weren’t given any information about the pool & when we went to use it the gate was locked & nobody in Reception. Parking was very limited & right & other guests had more than one vehicle which made parking ours difficult. Not somewhere I would recommend anybody stay.
