My family and I were getting off farm to relax during the busy calving season. We thought (thought is bold and underlined three times) that this would be a good place to just relax.

Not even close.

First, we made an online booking, arrived and then were told at reception they didn't have a record of our booking because their computer crashed.

Second, we paid extra for a family spa room and got this sign (below image) above the "spa bath".

Third, the hotel was advertised saying they had free wi-fi, but actually you only had free wi-fi for what was listed on the token (below image) and had to pay them for the rest.

Fourth, the beds were very old, the double bed having an extremely bad roll together, which made it a very uncomfortable sleep.

Fifth, there was no extra pillows at all so we had to use the couch cushions and roll up the least needed blanket to atleast prop out heads up a little bit more.

Sixth, we could hear the occupants above us every time they walked or used the bathroom.

Seventh, our bathroom window actually opened out onto the alleyway that goes to the other units behind us which made it very uncomfortable when using the toilet as that was the closest thing to the window.

For this one night instead of relaxing, we ended up annoyed with this place so much so that it felt like it had wasted our time away.

What's the most annoying and rude thing is that we had to pay extra for a room that was falsely advertised saying that it had a spa bath when the hotel knew that the spa bath wasn't working.

I would never consider nor suggest this place to stay at - ever.

We stayed a week due to everything was booked out and we needed something urgent. We got the last room and it served us well. The bed was comfortable. Hated the WiFi it never worked. On the last day the shower burnt me and I could not turn it down. The cleaner did not do her job well. It was meant to be serviced daily all she did was changed the towels and did the dishes. The bed was never made except when I stripped the sheets of the bed and it never got vacuumed once. We will never stay here again.

I was passing through and found the cheapest place to stay. You get what you pay for, very basic and outdated.
I stayed in a room which had a skylight which pretty much turned the room into a hothouse. Wasn't much fun with a hangover from the night before.
If you need a bed, it's fine.

Avoid this motel if you are a couple.
We were provided room4 at $110 per night for two nights (early Jan).
The room is budget and we expected that.

The linen was clean.
However the bed was quite small (double).
This would have been borderline acceptable if the mattress was decent.
However it had appallingly bad roll-together.

I expressed my dissatisfaction to Andrew (Korean) owner in the morning.
Andrew told me to my face I was the first to ever complain about the beds. Yet I notice below that somebody else complained of exactly the same issue in August.

I requested a transfer to a room with twin beds or with a queen/king size bed and a decent mattress. None available, and in any case all beds the same. I asked for a discounted price as I observed the room was sub-standard considering even the budget Rotorua price of $110. No. Andrew doesn't negotiate.

I was advised I could cancel the 2nd night without penalty.
This is what we decided to do.

I advise you not to come here at any price.

I booked two rooms at this hotel for one night over the Easter weekend, a peak holiday time in Rotorua. I received a message from the hotel about three weeks before travel advising me that one room was cancelled with no offer of assistance to find alternative accommodation. When I contacted the hotel on two different occasions I was told on the first occasion that a skylight was broken and on the other occasion that there were bed bugs and all the furniture was going to be replaced. I was assured that the second room would still be available. On arrival at the hotel, I was told in no uncertain terms that there were no rooms available and then I was agressively ordered off the property, despite there being no provocation at all on my part. I had to go to Hamilton to find alternative accommodation because there were no accommodation options left in Rotorua on Easter weekend. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this property to potential guests

There are a lot of motels in Rotorua making it difficult to pick the best one for our limited budget. I booked the Ace Motor Lodge because it sounded OK and it was cheap. This was a mistake. Our room was small, dingy and battered. There was a smell of mould. While the motel advertises private spa baths, all we got was a tiny shower. I would never stay in this motel again, and would not recommend it to anyone. For a few dollars more I am sure there are plenty of decent motels on Rotorua.

We usually choose to stay here when we go to Rotorua and have stayed here about 4 times before.
It's run by a friendly Korean couple, the family room/apartment is like a cosy little home away from home.
Sure, it's simple faded early 90s decor, but it's comfy and clean and really quite affordable, I probably wish I can keep this place a little secret but that's not really being fair.

Classic Kiwi motels are pretty basic. Bed, tele, bathroom, fridge, tea/coffee supplies.

This fits the bill to a 'T' and was a good place to overnight as I traveled through the area. Room was clean comfortable and came with limited wifi.

If you are on the road in NZ don't shy away from these classic motels, they can be quite nice and the innkeepers are always friendly and accomodating.

We spent two nights here. It was quite clean in here, but not too clean. We also were surprised by the fact that one wall of the room (inn which the entrance is) is made of glass and you need to close it with curtain to hide yourself from the corridor. But it was chip and for such price this hotel is ideal.

Took the family to Rotorua and stay here. The hosts were very good and let us have an early check in. We had a large group which the owners were very accommodating and very good price. For those with a large group, this is the place to stay! We will be back!
