Not even close.
First, we made an online booking, arrived and then were told at reception they didn't have a record of our booking because their computer crashed.
Second, we paid extra for a family spa room and got this sign (below image) above the "spa bath".
Third, the hotel was advertised saying they had free wi-fi, but actually you only had free wi-fi for what was listed on the token (below image) and had to pay them for the rest.
Fourth, the beds were very old, the double bed having an extremely bad roll together, which made it a very uncomfortable sleep.
Fifth, there was no extra pillows at all so we had to use the couch cushions and roll up the least needed blanket to atleast prop out heads up a little bit more.
Sixth, we could hear the occupants above us every time they walked or used the bathroom.
Seventh, our bathroom window actually opened out onto the alleyway that goes to the other units behind us which made it very uncomfortable when using the toilet as that was the closest thing to the window.
For this one night instead of relaxing, we ended up annoyed with this place so much so that it felt like it had wasted our time away.
What's the most annoying and rude thing is that we had to pay extra for a room that was falsely advertised saying that it had a spa bath when the hotel knew that the spa bath wasn't working.
I would never consider nor suggest this place to stay at - ever.
I stayed in a room which had a skylight which pretty much turned the room into a hothouse. Wasn't much fun with a hangover from the night before.
If you need a bed, it's fine.
We were provided room4 at $110 per night for two nights (early Jan).
The room is budget and we expected that.
The linen was clean.
However the bed was quite small (double).
This would have been borderline acceptable if the mattress was decent.
However it had appallingly bad roll-together.
I expressed my dissatisfaction to Andrew (Korean) owner in the morning.
Andrew told me to my face I was the first to ever complain about the beds. Yet I notice below that somebody else complained of exactly the same issue in August.
I requested a transfer to a room with twin beds or with a queen/king size bed and a decent mattress. None available, and in any case all beds the same. I asked for a discounted price as I observed the room was sub-standard considering even the budget Rotorua price of $110. No. Andrew doesn't negotiate.
I was advised I could cancel the 2nd night without penalty.
This is what we decided to do.
I advise you not to come here at any price.
It's run by a friendly Korean couple, the family room/apartment is like a cosy little home away from home.
Sure, it's simple faded early 90s decor, but it's comfy and clean and really quite affordable, I probably wish I can keep this place a little secret but that's not really being fair.
This fits the bill to a 'T' and was a good place to overnight as I traveled through the area. Room was clean comfortable and came with limited wifi.
If you are on the road in NZ don't shy away from these classic motels, they can be quite nice and the innkeepers are always friendly and accomodating.
