An excellent B&B only a few minutes walk from the beautiful redwood forest. Viv is an absolutely fantastic host. She is so friendly and great fun. She welcomes you into her home with open arms, points out great places to visit and things to do and will book activities for you with a 10% discount. Our room was large with loads of storage, iron, hairdryer etc. The bathroom was good with plentiful toiletries, towels and robes. There is a comfortable guest lounge where you can help yourself to hot drinks, biscuits and fruit anytime. Breakfast is simple with toast and jams, fruit, eggs, cereals and is taken with guests from the other two rooms with Viv making sure everyone is happy and well fed. You can park on Viv’s drive and everything you would want to see and do in and around Rotorua is no more than a 5 minute drive away. We loved staying here and would recommend to any couple visiting Rotorua.

Our experience with the owner, Vivian came at just the right time. We needed a little TLC after all the NZ mountain driving. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Accommodation was very nice. We enjoyed just chatting with her. BTW, if you want to get her going just talk about the All Blacks Rugby team. I think she is my match as a sports enthusiasts. thank you again, Vivian for adding to our NZ holiday with such warmth and friendship. Best Always, Wally and Gwen - Florida

Vivien was SO helpful and just enjoyable. She did everything she could to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable. Breakfast spread was amazing! Location - walkable to the Redwoods, and some shops and restaurants. Shared living/dining room/fridge with the other guest - separate entrance from the main house. Lovely patio...Would highly recommend if it's available!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Amazing stay at B&B @ The Redwoods. Vivien and Peter were very warm and friendly and the perfect hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful stay in their lovely and comfortable home. The room was very clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was great with wide range of choices personally prepared by Vivien. Excellent location, a short walk to the Redwoods Treewalk. Vivien with her vast local knowledge has given us lots of information and suggestions on interesting things to do in Rotorua. She has booked for us great activities with VIP treatments which would not be possible without her connections in the local community. Thank you Vivien!

STONGLY RECOMMENDED! We had a relaxing and wonderful 3-nights stay at B&B @ The Redwoods. The accommodation was clean, quiet and conveniently located; just a stone throw away from the The Redwoods Treewalk. The owner, Vivien, is a great hostess and every morning we were presented with hearty & delicious breakfasts. She makes a splendid ambassador for NZ tourism and the valuable information she shared about Rotorua and the surrounding areas were extremely interesting. Her deep knowledge and enthusiasm for many areas of interest and exploration in the Rotorua area was invaluable. Thanks to her, we had an unbelievable & unforgettable stay in Rotorua and New Zealand. We highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Rotorua.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The room was great and the breakfast room was also available during the day for coffee and tea-making and to hang out. Host Vivian was lovely and gave us some good advice on what to do. We really liked this place and had a great experience. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk from this place to the Redwoods. The city centre is a little further but stil a short ride.

The accomodation is very cosy and comfortable with a nice lounge where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. But the best is Vivien! She is a great host. She provides you with an excelent breakfast but also provides you with tickets for the redwood forrest (a wonderful experienxe in the dark!) or books you to the Hobbiton Movie Set. Our fazit: we will definetly come back (for the 4th time!)

My partner and I stayed three nights in early Jan 2023. Vivien is a terrific host who cannot do enough to make you welcome in her home. Our room was down at the back of the property with patio doors opening onto a balcony with table and chairs and steps down to the garden. The room was spacious, clean and comfy with a good sized ensuite with shampoo and conditioner provided. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the guests’ lounge. Also cutlery to be borrowed if, for example, getting an evening take-away. We actually had pizza delivered the first night as we arrived much later than expected due to our flight being diverted to Hamilton, then a shuttle transfer. The pizza place is only a five minute walk but it was pouring with rain and we were exhausted! Vivien took delivery of the pizza and brought it down to our room for us. Breakfast is together with other guests around one table. At first I wasn’t too sure of this idea but goodness me, what a great host Vivien was here, introducing us all, getting the conversation flowing. We met some really lovely, interesting people from other countries and conversation covered a wide range of topics. It seemed a shame when breakfast was over and off we went in our different directions! My partner loves a “Full English” which is not good for him at all, so I was pleased that breakfast was not this. Instead, a good choice of cereals, boiled eggs (or cooked other ways on request), freshly made fruit salad, yogurt, toast with various toppings and so on. We certainly couldn’t have eaten any more! The discussions over Marmite were funny with some unsuspecting guests agreeing to try it!! The property is easy to find with good off-road parking, in a very quiet residential area just a few minutes’ walk from the Redwoods. I must also mention the Good Eastern Taphouse, about five minutes’ walk away, a large bar/restaurant where we each had a steak, one of the very best steaks we’ve ever had, we’d highly recommend. So, Vivien, many thanks for having us and, if the chance arises, we would love to return as we felt there was still a lot more to see and do in the area and your hospitality is outstanding!

Hi Kath Thank you for your amazing glowing review of your recent stay with me. You certainly made my day when I read your beautiful feedback of your experience staying with me. Your words warmed my heart, I was so touched by your appreciation of my hospitality. Thank you for taking the time to write us such a beautiful summary of your experience. I have been hosting guests from all over the world for few years now and I always enjoy sharing travel stories and life experiences especially at breakfast when all my guests are together. I am glad you enjoyed the conversation, and felt included. Yes marmite is always interesting breakfast topic especially with my European guests, I love it with peanut butter too. We are very fortunate to live so close to the Redwoods Forest, the Treewalk has been a popular attraction for our guests in the evening. I have passed on your compliment to the owner of Good Eastern Taphouse, the food is consistently good. I certainly hope you will visit NZ and Rotorua again, all our guests receive VIP service from us. We thank you for being such amazing guests. Until your next visit, take care and all our best wishes. Kind Regards Vivien
