Stayed at twin pines for 5 nights in a tourist flat which was great as it had 2 bedrooms, full kitchen and bathroom facility and our very own decking with patio furniture!.
Dick the owner and his wife where very lovely and welcoming==Nothing was a problem to them. Overall nice campground - close to the Haruru Falls & approx 5 mins from paihia.
Not much to do for teenage children though - little playground great for smaller children. if you want a swimming pool - then Dick will direct you to the resort next door where they allow Twin Pine clients to swim for a $3 fee per person.

Having the broad and thundering Haruru Falls a few hundred yards away was good (and not intrusive), but better was the couple running the campsite. Nothing too much trouble, lots of chat and information; the chap Murray willingly got stuck into a smelly problem with our campervan toilet; made a telephone call for us to sort that out, and even gave us a lift down to Paihia afterwards. This was quiet season so they didn't have too much work to do, but even so it was all beyond the call of duty. Fine place to stay.

I arrived in Paihia late one winters night. I was cold, fed up with driving, tired and I had no idea what accommodation was available. I was told about the Twin Pines Tourist Park because it was the best valve for money and is in a great location. When I arrived Dick and Kate (the owners) made me feel so welcome. I stayed in one of the A-framed cottages that can sleep up to six people. I had such a good nights sleep on a really comfortable bed. Bliss! I stayed for a week. The amenities are great. There is a large kitchen and a cozy lounge. It is all very clean and well organized. I was truly impressed. Dick and Katie seem to really enjoy what they do and it shows. In the morning, walk down through a gate at the end of the park, and sit on the bank by the falls. A great place for a picnic. I have stayed at the Twin Pines Tourist Park twice now and will definitely be returning. Treat yourself to a trip and stay at the Twin Pines Tourist Park.

Beautiful park with excellent facilities, but the woman at the front desk who appeared to be the host was blatantly rude and nasty. We arrived at the mostly empty campground and the owner (male) was very polite and welcoming, we set up and were quite content until we went to cook, after cooking and cleaning up we left the kitchen and the female host came running out to yell at us for leaving a mess in the kitchen, she was referring to the fact that there was water residue in the sink we used, water in the sink! Two friends came the following day looking to stay for one night and she told them to leave because it was unacceptable that they were 18 and wanted to stay for only one night. For the days that followed she was condescending and nasty. When a friend of ours slipped on a wet floor in the kitchen she laughed and made a joke about how she forgot to put up a "slippery when wet" sign. Nastiest host ever encountered. Beautiful campground, excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities, just a rude rude host.

Lady at the front desk was very grumpy indeed. Seemed that our sunny disposition (holiday mode) and spending money at her facility was an interruption to her day. Based on the other comments seems this seems to be the norm. They only saving grace was how spotless the kitchen and bathrooms were. Will not be staying here again.

We made a three month round trip with our two little children, a van and a tent. Twin pines was our first destination after arriving in Auckland. Dick and Kathy, the manager, were so absolutely friendly and the place was so clean and in a good shape! Our kids loved the trampoline, and we liked the sound of that river. the way to the beach was very short and we started a lot of tours from Paihia. During our time in NZ we saw a lot of camp spaces and met a lot of managers…but Twin pines was our favorite!!! A very good price for a very good location. The kitchen was clean, the showers were warm and clean, Dick always smiling and helpful. The day we left, it was a little like saying good by to good old friends!!!

We arrived in Paihia to as the locals called it an (un-seasonal down pour) but despite the first few days of our stay at Twin Pines being very wet we all had a fun time in our cabin, which had everything you'd want or need!!! The children met and played with other children and despite the business of the place (constant people in and out using the kitchen and bathroom vacilities, it was always spotless!!! The hosts were alot of fun and were very accomodating when we needed anything, whether that be more towels or information about near-by attractions. Thanks heaps for a wonderful stay at Twin Pines Tourist Park.....We will definately be up that way again sometime soon and with the ages of our children found your park to be a happy, healthy and safe place to stay, will tell all our friends about it and treasure the memories forever!!!! Tahnks The Humm/Argyle Family

Very rude lady at the front desk made us feel so unwelcome as we checked in and the next day when i went to ask if we could book another night she looked at me then rolled her eyes and said NO! With a stern voice even though the camp was completely empty. I would never stay here again. I felt her partner was helpful and freindly and i feel sorry for him.

"We had the two bedroom family unit. Looking at the photos on the website, we definitely wouldn't have booked the one bedroom unit, even though it slept four. The linen was crispy clean, the carpets and paint looked new."

"The chalets are probably like camping almost in terms of basic room with foam mattress beds- possibly lilos are more giving! But powered and with little fridge. You could look at the apartments for better comfort or just camp- if you have a tent - great sites."
