From the warm welcome by staff, the helpful recommendations and bookings for events to the clean and quiet apartments, it’s easy to see why Edgewater won a tourism award in 2019.

My mother has a walking stick: Edgewater has a lift. We asked for room with a view: we received one. Our one bedroom apartment was spacious. The double bed in the bedroom and the double sofa bed in the lounge were very comfortable. It was lovely to sit by the pool or have breakfast on our apartment deck.

Behind us was a backpackers’ hostel. There have been other complaints about the noise coming from there. Generally, it was fine and on the one occasion when it was noisy and we politely raised that with the backpackers, they apologised and toned it down.

The Edgewater rules are not onerous. They help keep the apartments quiet and enjoyable. We enjoyed the sound of happy children splashing in the pool during the day and were grateful for their consideration at night.

Next door is a delightful restaurant & bar, Al Fresco, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - and a good, mean coffee after 7.30 am. There is a bottle store close by and a superette around the corner, (which contains over- priced items so I preferred to visit Countdown in the main centre.)

The wharf to catch the ferry to Russell or elsewhere (AND to eat at Charlotte’s Kitchen which serves fabulous food) together with the main centre are less than 10 minute’s walk away although we used taxis because of my mother’s disability (shout out to Raven taxis here.) We were able to leave our bags at Edgewater on the last day and look around before leaving for the airport.

We found Edgewater a calm, restful place and would like to come back.

Enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Edgewater Palms. Welcoming and helpful reception and accommodation had everything we needed including well supplied kitchen facility and laundry and had a nice view of the beach and pool from the balcony . An extra bed was provided as we had a two bedroom apartment and our girls needed separate beds . Pool is not heated so was not quite as warm as the ocean but ok for a quick dip . Pool towels provided rooms only serviced every 3 days . A great place to stay just across the road from the beach and walking distance to cafes and restaurants

Had a four night stay at these apartments situated at Paihia, Bay of Islands. Set in a perfect location with a very easy walk to the township this facility was just superb. The apartments are large , and contains all you expect with a star rating of 4.5 (should be 5), we were made very welcome by Mandy and Tina , they offered great advice on the local area. Day tours can be arranged via the front desk and at beneficial prices. BBQ facilities and a nice pool compliment the overall facility. Service was just great, the girls even dried our washing in their commercial dryer when we had slight trouble working our dryer, how good is that ! Beautiful views of Russell and the immediate island bay just make this a superb venue. Highly recommend 👌

This motel is definitely not 5 star. Very overpriced for what it is. Cons: lack of view on bottom floor even if you have asked for waterfront views. No air con in bedrooms, the outdated one in the lounge you can not adjust the fan speed. It does not reach the rooms.. unable to open any windows, so gets hot in summer. No shampoo/conditioner in bathrooms, just a pump bottle which is shared with other guests, thought with covid this would be a big no, no. Under floor heating didn't work in bathrooms.
Very very over priced and over rated... been to better resorts for less the price...
Pro's : Nice pool area, lady on reception accommodating, apartment clean and spacious.
Good facilities, very close to beach and short stroll to main center.
Would I stay here again?
Probably not due to being way over priced for what it is...

Other reviewers have pointed out Edgewater’s assets — parking, pleasant view, good furniture and room sizes. But we were paying $800 per day so we expected more excellence than we got. Rooms are cleaned once in three days. Coffee is dispensed as if it were precious gems. The view comes at the cost of endless traffic noise. Our apartment had a defective TV and clock.

Hi BS97403 We are sorry to hear that your time at Edgewater was not what you expected. Yes are apartments are only serviced every 3 days. This has been the case for 15 years and is clearly advertised on all web sites. These are full liveable apartments - not a motel or hotel room. 99% of our guests like the fact that they are not disturbed and can feel like they are in their own home environment. Obviously this is not what you were looking for. On request we would have been happy to change towels etc although there are plenty of extra's available in the dressing room. Our office has supplies of all stocks that are readily available at any time during office hours or a quick call to reception after hours and we are happy to bring up to any apartment at any time. I am thinking endless traffic noise that maybe you were with us over the Waitangi period where the traffic was continual all day and late into the afternoon. We are on the waterfront with a road directly in front and, yes, cars do use this main route into and out of town. With regards your clock that was replaced immediately it was brought to our attention. Re the TV it was the 2nd TV in the bedroom. The main 42" Tv was fine. We did explain that we were waiting for someone to come over to fix it. Unfortunately we cannot please everyone. I am happy to say thousands of guests have stayed with us over the summer session and had an amazing time. I'm sorry you did not have the same experience. The fact that we upgraded you for your stay is a little upsetting and also the fact that when you left you did not convey any of the above to us in person but used Trip Advisor to do so. We stayed for 4 nights at Edgewater Palms in a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment (Room 28) opposite the beach. The apartment is extremely well appointed, with modern kitchen, 2 en suites, large bedrooms, upmarket toiletries. A huge amount of storage space, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. A spacious balcony overlooks the infinity pool. The gardens are sublime. Housekeeping is outstanding. Highly recommended. We will be back.

We had the most awesome 5 day stay here. The staff were super friendly and very happy to help out with suggestions of things to do and where to eat. The accomodation was superb! Super comfortable beds and well appointed with everything we needed. Loved sitting on the balcony with drinks watching the fabulous scenery. We will be back ! Thanks so much .

We went there for my husband's work do and we were very pleasantly surprised. I am very much of a germophobe and hate sleeping anywhere other than my home but I have to say the whole place was spotless. Our room was lovely and had everything you could ever need and more. Would highly recommend.

Spent a couple of days in Pahia with a friend mountain biking and playing golf. Stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom with views over the pool and out to the water. Nice big apartment, huge lounge, nice balcony overlooking the pool. Very comfortable. Two niggles: it's very hard to get out of the underground parking, and they don't heat the pool. My own pool isn't much smaller at home, it costs me about $150-200 per month to heat. When I'm paying about $550 per night for an apartment, heat the damn pool it was freezing.

Hi there, yes all of our 2 bedroom apartments also have 2 bathrooms. The best place to find the nightly rate for any time over the next 12 months would be via our website... you can easily locate this via Google. If you'd prefer to chat with us and book over the phone we can be reached on +64 9 402 0090. Thanks ^BT

Hi Syd N Yes good elevator access from the basement up to each level. Stairs are there but not that steep but of course you only use them if you want to.

Hi, Unfortunately we only take small dogs...as much as I love Labradors they are not permitted. Sorry i can't be of help. I think there are a few other dog friendly places in Paihia....maybe ring our local isite as they may be able to help. Kind regards Nicki Kempthorne Manager

With response to the above. Paihia does have a taxi service. Walk into the main shopping area is about 5 to 6 minutes from Edgewater. We have one of the best restaurants right next door to us and if not just a short stroll down the road to all restaurants/cafes. Night club are near us. Dive op is based in the main street and my understanding is they transport you to the diving spots. We do have our own Rental car on site if required and can be hired anywhere from half a day onwards if this helps. Kind regards Nicki Kempthorne Manager
