I absolutely agree with the previous reviewers. This was our first stay on arriving in New Zealand, and a perfect introduction to the comfort and hospitality here. The rooms were fantastic, the breakfasts outstanding, and our hosts Wendy and Phil couldn’t have done more to make this a great stay. Sadly for us the weather let us down (36 hours of relentless rain!) but we still managed to enjoy our few days, sitting out on our deck sipping excellent NZ wine and watching the weather! It’s a bit too far to walk down into town for dinner, but there are plenty of cheap taxis, and one restaurant (Alfresco’s) offers a courtesy car service up to the Decks, which meant we could all sample the wine. We had the pleasure of staying our 3rd time in Decks of Paihia at the end of December 2017. It seems to me that the place doesn't get any wear and tear with the years going by - it is extremely well kept taking into account the high volume of visitors. The breakfast is still as good as ever and the Friands (close relative of the French financier) are without any doubt still the highlight of the breakfast buffet. We had the most amazing stay over Christmas with Wendy and Phil. They are the most lovely hosts you can imagine. Always willing to give you tips where to go? And their breakfast is amazing! The rooms are very nice and super clean and they have a little pool. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Paihia!
Delightful setting offering the access to Treaty grounds and Russell. Lovely room with fantastic views. The fishcakes at breakfast were wonderful. Owners were both helpful and informative with a wealth of experience in both New Zealand and abroad. Lovely couple of nights.
This is a really good B and B. It is beautifully designed, modern, comfortable, spacious in a beautiful location and a very short drive from the sea. Phil, the owner, is a very good host, particularly helpful and cooks a fine breakfast. I highly recommend staying here.
