We had an excellent two night stay at the Decks of Paihia despite some very wet weather. Phil was a most helpful host (and a great breakfast cook!) who ensured that we were able to make the most of our time in the Bay of Islands. On our second day, when the rains had stopped, we took the ferry across the bay to Russell, a beautiful place, where after a great walk up Flagstaff Hill we enjoyed a great meal at the Duke of Marlborough. Hats off to Phil for booking us a table on the veranda - absolutely the place to be seated, and typical of his great attention to detail.
We spent two nights here. A great view of the Bay. Phil and Wendy are outgoing hosts and offered good advice on spending our time here. Excellent accommodation and breakfast including tasty home grown tomatoes.
We were greeted with a warm welcome from Phil when we arrived. our stay was for 3 nights. We arrived during a heavy rain and very windy storm. Our room was beautiful with a veranda to sit on with a lovely pool but due to the weather we didn't get a chance to use it. Bathroom had lovely toiletries and soft towels. There was a fridge in a cupboard with fresh milk for coffee and tea. Also glasses, for your own wine or drinks. We met Wendy the following morning at breakfast. Breakfast was just wonderful with freshly cooked eggs etc whatever you chose it was all fresh. Cereals, fruit, yogurts breads and the most delicious of all was Wendy's homemade muffins. Phil and Wendy gave us lots of information on the area of places to visit. A truly wonderful stay. Christine
Just about the perfect place to stay, it was our favourite on our travel around both north and south islands. Lovely and helpful people, great room, great view, top breakfasts, perfect deck and pool. 2 minutes from the ocean. We loved it and will return!
We had a couple of nights here and could have done with one more for this area. As others have said the rooms and bathrooms are large and modern and comfortable. Sky TV available and WIFI (a bit slow but you are on holiday). It's away from and above the town with lovely views. It's a straight forward 1 mile walk into town for your evening meal, but for many the walk back up might be tough. As others have said there are taxis etc. They will also do some laundry here which for those of us with many weeks of travel is needed. Breakfast is generous with many egg options etc. Full marks to the home made muffins.
