Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was our first stop in Paihia and it was absolutely everything we wanted! Room 1 is ground level next to the road so we could walk out and not disturb any other guests. Very very affordable. Plenty of parking. The room is a king studio very clean equipt with the basics. Shower is amazing! Surprised to find sky movies so we enjoyed dinner delivered and movies after our long trip up. Great location close to the beach, countdown and central Paihia. Only downside was the walls were thin could hear the neighbours but I think they were loud talkers anyway other than that we will be back again this will definitely be our go to motel :)

Well what can I say? Truly a lifesaver and such a comfortable and welcoming place.Having our cruise turned back to Auckland only 9 days into our holiday we decided ,instead of trying to get back to UK we would spend the rest of our holiday in NZ and fly back to Sydney the day b4 our flight to Uk. We chose the bay of islands cos it’s least populated sub tropical and we hadn’t been there.
What a find the Bounty was. A lovely fully serviced spacious appt, just back from the ocean ,lovely sea view and round the corner from the supermarket at a budget price. Little did we know we were going to be there 5 weeks!Paul the Manager couldn’t have been more helpful. NZ TV is rubbish but he kept us supplied with great movies and sweets!Lockdown came after 5 days but because of the location we were able to walk everyday. To some beautiful local places. We would like to have stayed longer as we were very comfortable there but alas the UK put repatriation flights on as all flights had been cancelled and after 5 weeks had to leave! Hopefully we will return!.

Qantas kept delaying our arrival time and heavy traffic from Auckland meant we arrived in Paihia fairly late. But I kept in touch with Paul at the Bounty Motel and he diligently ensured we had a key on arrival. Naturally, we were exhausted but awoke the following day completely refreshed after a brilliant sleep on a super comfortable mattress. Our room was not air conditioned but the windows open wide and you can open both front and back doors to get the breeze from the nearby bay. A portable fan ensured we were never uncomfortable. The rooms are larger than average and the kitchen is well equipped if you wish to self-cater. Everything is only a short stroll away. We will be back.

We spent five nights in one of the budget family rooms. Paul was a friendly and helpful welcome when we arrived.

The room had a large king bed, dining table, kitchenette, bathroom and separate bedroom at the back which had three single beds.

The location was fantastic - a short easy walk into town. The motel is on a corner section, and our room was located on the ground floor away from the busier of the two roads. We didn't notice any noise from the room above ours. The beds were very comfortable and the room, while certainly dated, was very clean.

The only complaint was that the wifi doesn't work in the back bedroom (something we were told about at check-in) which to a teenager is a disaster (some how they survived!).

We'll be back.

Warm welcome!!We stayed here for 3 nights and wish we could have spent more time with Paul and his team at Bounty motel. Great accommodation with bedroom bathroom and living room/ kitchenette. Cleaning staff tip top. Laundry facilities on site. Lovely outside seating area with a view out to sea. Paul made great suggestions of places to see and booked trips for us arranging pick up and genuine discounts available on some trips . Highly recommend. Great value for money.

My second stay here. Very friendly greeting and very helpful Manager. Room very well presented, very clean and well equipped and comfortable. Price for the motel in Paihia, still in the holiday season, was very good and cheaper than most other places in the town. Well worth staying here.

In terms of value for money this could be one of the best we have stayed in whilst travelling for the last 6 months......the room we had was spacious, well equipped and very clean. It’s slightly dated in terms of decor but again in comparison to what we paid it’s difficult to criticise. There were two bedrooms with space for 5 people despite there only being the two of us. With regards to location it’s literally a few minutes walk to the coast or the centre of the town. Enjoyable stay....cheaper than some campsites!

I challenge you to find a better deal in Paihia for your accomodation if you want to save money. Even the backpackers down the road was more expensive so we stayed here. Paul's place is 5 minutes from Countdown and the wharf with the restaurants. Asked for second floor and that's what we got. As previous reviewers mentioned the wood does make noises on occasion but this didn't bother us too much. WiFi was great, room was cleaned daily and I had a lot of extra $ to spend on dining out, tours etc. Room wasn't brand new, you can pay $300 a night down the road if that's what you want, but there's no guarantee the experience would be any better.

On arriving for my 3rd stay at Bounty, I was delighted to find Paul the manager, was still working there. As usual, I was greeted to a very warm welcome, more like an old friend than a casual visitor.

The motel offers very clean and comfortable rooms, at a very competitive price when compared to others in Paihia. Its location is only 2-3 minutes' walk from all the shops, bars and restaurants and only 1 minute from the waterfront.

The rooms are very spacious and clean. Kitchen has the basic utensils and crockery and room was serviced daily. I always read many reviews prior to booking but MY WORD nobody mentioned the structural noises and cracking sounds that keeps you awake at night. These are loud cracks due and sometimes so loud that it will wake you up

I have stayed at the Bounty a few times now and every room I have stayed in, have had a hair drier in them. Most motels across NZ provide them.
