A fabulous old fashioned Kiwi motel. Clean, and very comfortable bed and pillows. A lovely kitchenette, well stocked and within a 5 minute walk of Paihia township. We stayed for three nights and found Wendy our host very friendly and helpful. I must also mention how quiet it was. No road noise or disturbances from other guests. Price was a lot more reasonable than most of the accommodation in Pahia.

Hidden gem in Paihia, beautiful gardens and lovely host Wendy. Accommodation clean and tidy. Close to the beach quick walk away.

Surprisingly quiet and comfortable. Great having a kitchen, comfy beds and lovely shower.

Safe car parking not suitable camper vans or high vehicle. Street parking available.

We have been traveling in NZ for a bit now and I would say it's a standard motel that has been around for a while. The price-performance ratio is adequate and the host Wendy is friendly. We had a unit on top over the car park with a balcony. The place is over-growing with lovely flowers that give it an almost carribean feeling. It's clean, the kitchen even has 2 stoves, microwave and the usual equipment. They provided a brand new cot for our daughter. What we did not like were the beds (mattresses very, very firm, pillows) but that is a very individual subject (and for a German the tucked-in sheet-and-blanket combo everywhere in NZ is a horror in general 😜).

We stayed here as there were very few vacancies in Paihia at short notice after contact with isite. On the positive side it is close to the beach, restaurants, ferry etc. There is parking which is tight but fine if everyone parks considerately. Wendy was friendly and helpful. However, all the rest is negative. We stayed in the so called garden room. It was totally clean but it smelt damp and musty which never improved. There was strange artificial grass in the kitchen space (a kind of lean to). The living room was full of furniture including 2 single beds and an uncomfortable sofabed. The place was very old and tired and we would not recommend staying here in Paihia.

Just a a short stroll to the centre of Paihia along the beachfront road. Clean, comfortable, and well ventilated rooms. Quiet setting with some garden space. Friendly owners, who allow well behaved dogs to stay.

Our family stayed 4 nights during the Easter holidays. Originally we booked for 3 nights but decided to extend the stay one more night since we liked the motel very much. Owners were very nice and welcoming. The room was very clean and well-equipped with a character. Although it is in walking distance from the wharf, the place was quiet so we could sleep well. The spa was a special feature of the motel which we did not know until we arrived but we eventually enjoyed it a lot. The price was reasonable. We will stay again when we come back to Paihia.

We booked to stay 5 nights in a 1 bedroom unit. Very comfortable and spacious unit with everything you need for a short stay. Our first 2 nights were early in the week, the night's were rainy and we slept well. Our third night, later in the week, was a disaster. We discovered there was a backpacker bar and accommodation precinct at the rear of the property and we were subjected to loud music, partying and disrespectful, noisy people returning to their accommodation in the early hours of the morning. Thinking we could be subjected to more of the same over the weekend period, we decided to cancel our accommodation the next morning and move on. Unfortunately we had paid upfront, and our hosts would not refund our money without 24 hours notice. We decided to forgo $120 rather than tolerate another unbearable night.

Let me start by saying this is my first one star rating review I have ever written. The location of the hotel is great. It's just a walk to restaurants and the wharf. it was cute and a few updates could make it a good place to stay.

When we got into our room everything was so dated and dingy. The mattress seemed to be about 20 years old and the microwave seemed from the 60's or 70's.

When I walked into the bathroom to set out my toiletries I ran into a wall of body odor. It was terrible. The grout needed a major scrubbing. When I went to the bathroom I laid towels on the bathroom floor and the shower floor so my feet didn't have to touch the tile and grout.

The Internet is free....when it works. I just shut off the wireless and used my own phone plan.

I was scheduled to stay 2 nights but couldn't make myself do it. I checked out early. When I told the owner I was checking out early she very curtly said, "well you can't get your money back." Well I never asked for it back in the first place nor was I even going to write a review until she got snippy. I was reading other reviews and another guy said he checked out early as well.

All in all just splurge the extra 30 or 40 to stay somewhere else. You'll be happy you did.

We reserved a one bedroom as this was near the end of our trip and we wanted to be able to spread out a bit. We could easily have fit another four in with the two of us. I've lived in smaller apartments than this unit. Peter and Wendy were wonderful hosts - this felt less like a motel, and more like the better sort of inn. Everything was clean, the kitchen well appointed, and the full sized refrigerator was a treat, as we were staying for four nights. The motel is easy walking distance to the center of town and the harbor, and an even easier walk to the start of the beach.

The apartment felt more retro than dated, although the mattresses are nearing the end of their life span. Honestly though, I had the same feeling at most of the places we stayed in New Zealand, so that may be a personal issue of mine.

Peter and Wendy were great hosts, and the apartment we had was excellent. The beds were comfortable and it was great having a separate kitchen/dining area. The hotel is around the corner from the main drag, but only about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. We can also recommend the spa at the end of the day for a nice way to relax.
