Wonderful 3 night stay. All rooms have fantastic views of the Bay and islands, each with a view deck, and has view terrace with hot tubs and pool, view restaurant with dinner best quality in the whole area, a friendly and helpful staff, just 10 minutes walk (2 minutes by car) to the Paihai wharf, shops and ferries to historic Russell and stunning islands scenery, walks and water activities, and just 5 minute drive to the Māori Treaty grounds. (The few reviews mentioning some areas need updates are looking for a missing tile in an otherwise gorgeous ceiling … ignore them and appreciate the overall good value and many great pluses). Highly recommended, and we rarely take the time to rate hotels.

We had three nights here and this would have been a one star review based on our first day. After an 18 hour flight from NYC, domestic flight to KeriKeri, and rental car drive to Paihia, we were fish food. Upon arrival, nothing went well. Room not ready, no water, no ice, no wireless, and no smiles. After navigating this nothingburger, we went to their restaurant, Glasshouse Kitchen and Bar. I had made reservations 3 months before to celebrate wife’s birthday ( timed to the exact day of arrival), wife’s retirement, and our 25th wedding anniversary. Crickets. Ok, so not going to plan. I ordered a bottle of Sauv Blanc. Waiter brought same to table but last bottle and already had been opened with maybe 4/5 remaining. He suggested a price negotiation of comping my wife’s small glass of soda water ( because the provided tap water was not potable) to balance out the missing liquid from a $75 bottle of wine. And on and on. Welcome to New Zealand. HOWEVER, we were in NZ for a one month self drive and not going to let management issues bring us down. The weather was improving, the room was great, clean, with a good view. The hotel is a 12 minute walk to the town of Paihia and the waterfront docks for ferries Nd water excursions. The hotel pool was good and the hot water soaking areas nice although without jets. We found out from some locals on the Russel Ferry that the hotel is under absentee foreign ownership and it dawned on us that the employees were doing the best they could under what might be draconian management. Indeed the employees might have work related PTSD or some sort of Stockholm Syndrome variant. Whatever, the facility was great and recommended if you go in either eyes open and lower expectations. We are now on day 23 of our trip and having a compete blast of a time including our stay in Paihia.

Amazing experience. The hotel has great views and it’s at the center of Paihia points of interest. We could used the pools from morning time as some of them were warm, and the kids loved that! The hotel is quite cosy so you don’t feel like you are in a resort although the facilities are of like such. Stuff super nice with the kids, very understanding with families.

Worst experience, stayed at room 401 Bugs in the bed, we all woke up with painful sores. Food is terrible. Staff unfriendly. Pool area need deep cleaning. Don’t think they do any cleaning at all. Small insects under the tables in pool area

Thank you for your feedback on your stay. We are sad to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. Issues like these should to be raised to our attention immediately so we can do our best to accommodate and compensate for them. We are disheartened to hear that our outdoor area was not up to standard which we have acted on immediately. We are currently investigating the issue regarding 'bugs' as we have not had this problem before. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we do hope to see you return one day. Kind Regards, Front Office Team

We stayed for 2 nights in the two bedroom apartment with direct access to the pool and also to the restaurant. The location is just outside town but it’s only a short walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants.
Our apartment was comfortable but it’s certainly in need of a major renovation to bring it up to reasonable standard. It’s unfortunate as the hotel has some very positive aspects including the large swimming pool and numerous spas.
We dined in the Glasshouse restaurant for breakfast and they certainly made an awesome cappuccino and hearty yummy breakfast.
The staff were all friendly and efficient. It’s just a pity the hotel needs updating otherwise it certainly ticks all the boxes for a short holiday break for families or couples.

Very spacious. We had a room with large King size co mfy bed + a little sitting/ lounge room & quite a large kitchen and balcony which overlooked a heated pool & a number of heated spas.
TV was great and surroundings are generally very comfortable & nice to be in. Young fellow at Reception was VERY helpful and friendly.
Overall building & interior perhaps looking a little tired but very clean and spacious as I said.
Parking was a bit of an issue and you will DEFINANTLY need a car to go anywhere at all!

We spent two nights at Paihia Beach Resort and Hotel. This is a five-star hotel and it was in fair to good condition. The reception desk is staffed between 8am to 9pm. Staff were very helpful. When we got there it was raining and the reception staff had run out of umbrellas. A suggestion, if you place at least one umbrella in each room as this seems to be fair. A bonus was they had a self laundry room that was complimentary for the guest. The hallways and lift area smelt stuffy but the rooms were quite clean.
The staff at reception were very helpful and knowledgeable.
The hotel is in close proximity to a local supermarket which was about a 10 minute walk and it was about 8 minute walk to the wharf and the restaurants.
Transport: We used Kerikeri Taxis from the airport to the hotel.
Weather: We were in Paihia in early December but temperatures were dropping to 15°C at night and during the day it goes up to 21°C. The locals have told us that summer in New Zealand starts in late January and temperatures do not go over 30°C.

The fact this hotel isn't right in the center of Paihia is a definite plus, as the traffic isn't as heavy. We had a King room on the top floor, with a private balcony and spa bath. Everything was spotlessly clean, and we loved the little extras like spare toothpaste (forgot to pack mine!!). The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been if we had been aware the in house restaurant offered room service, as after heading to the spa for relaxation massages the last thing we felt like doing was heading out for dinner, and breakfast on the balcony would have topped off the weekend.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Great location, 5 minutes walk into Paihia. About 5 car parking spaces on site, first come first serve, but more safe spaces on the road. Had breakfast included, you can choose 1 item of the menu. Did not have dinner here. Suite very spacious, quite, comfortable beds. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended

There's a reason that this is our favourite go to in the BoI. Spacious well appointed rooms. Heated spa pools and great services in the Spa. What caps it all off is the sumptuous food delivered in the Glass House Kitchen and Bar

My apologies I thought I had answered this. I do not think so. There is a Spa with Steam Room , Sauna and Massage area but I do not recall seeing a gym.
Yes there is an elevator. Large enough for two people plus small luggage.
