Feral was the word our neighbours used to describe Waitangi Holiday Park and it fits perfectly. In spite of a confirmation email which we showed the staff and manager, we were told upon arrival that our booking was later in the month. Receptionist was super-helpful but spent 30 minutes trying to track down the manager who didnt answer any phones before we were asked if we would stay on a tent site (which wasnt what we had booked, prepaid for or had confirmed on the email) before being put onto a site in the hope the people who had booked it wouldnt turn up. Many people we spoke to discussed there bookings being mucked up too. Site was flat and powere5 toilets for ladies and 5 for men, often 1-2 blocked at the same time (that wasnt pleasant) 4 showers for women and 4 for men with queues night and morning. The showers and toilets really needed a good dose of hot water and disinfectant, which we never saw. The cleaners used a dry mop to sweep the kitchen, that just wasnt going to cut anything. Again, no criticism of staff - they meant well but their didnt seem to be any processes or regularity or adequacy with cleaning. BBQ was great, location good, prices fair, staff helpful and hardworking - its just the lack of cleanliness

Just on the edge of the tourist aspect of town this is an affordable place to pass a night. Staff were very friendly. Situated on the waters edge it was a nice open space to pass an evening. Thank you.

This is our third time here and it never fails to impress. Friendly staff. . Great view. Close to everything Waitangi and Paohia have to offer. We will always use this holiday park as our preference when I'm this area.

.... but no freezers to refreeze ice packs for chilly bins! Refrigerators not cold either. Otherwise, really good place. Right in the river and handy to town, WItangi Tresty Grounds, supermarket, etc. Big BBQ and a laundry! Dump station, etc.

We stayed here for 10 nights over Christmas. Our non-powered site was huge, flat and very neat, with lovely views on the waters edge, Herons and other birds always on the shoreline. Unfortunately, the 2 shower/toilet blocks are in much need of modernising. We’ve stayed in 100’s of campgrounds over the years and this was not up to scratch for 2020 at all. The main issue was: constant queues for the 2 showers in each block, no matter what time or part of the day; same with the toilets but not as bad; nowhere to hang clothes, no shelf and the floors were really dirty with soil from the road and water logged, so a real job to juggle things in the shower without wanting to drop anything; The wash basins were grubby with water everywhere (no cloths to wipe up after you); The showers in the older block were often blocked. There were cleaning staff on hand but the amount of visitors and general out of date design of the buildings meant they were not able to keep up. On the plus side, the camp kitchen and outdoor eating was good. A really super convenient location too, 15 mins walk to Paihia and good walks from the Treaty Grounds. Very quiet for us at night for our location next to the water. Overall, if the facilities are renovated, this site would be excellent.
