We originally booked at another campsite that wasn’t the right fit and looked for what was around. Waitangi holiday park looked nice online so we just turned up. Luckily they had availability! We told them about our predicament and were so helpful. Found us a great powered site overlooking the estuary. The camp itself is simple, clean and friendly. The sites are flat and clearly marked. The kitchen had everything you need and even offered free detergent & free bbq’s. There was even body wash in the showers, not sure if they were complementary but if so were a nice touch.
There were washing machines which we needed for $4 (2x$2 coins only) and powder available from reception and a big line out the back to hang your clothes. A lounge to watch tv and everything was clean :)
You can walk to the beach in about 5 mins and the supermarket in 10. So picturesque and it was quiet at night and I’m the morning. Totally recommend - what a find and thanks for having us!

Awesome stay at the Waitangi holiday park. There were so many people over Waitangi weekend but everything was well organised, the kaimahi helpful and provided multiple cleanings each day. Well done team. Thank you and look forward to coming back.

Basic Rooms with no running water, but there is a tap outside the rooms to fill Jug. Toaster, plates & utensils in room to use in shared kitchen.
No Toilet or shower in the Rooms.
Spacious space to stay in a Tent/s & staff were very accommodating with the amount of us that stayed. Much appreciated.
We had a good stay at Waitangi Holiday Park & the staff were very helpful in providing all information prior to our visit. Great view of the water with a shower/toilet block for guests to use. Shared Kitchen with cooking facilities with a Zip Hot Water Tap. Clean & Tidy Holiday Park.
We really enjoyed our stay here as a family with Adults & Children.

We stayed here for 10 nights over Christmas. Our non-powered site was huge, flat and very neat, with lovely views on the waters edge, Herons and other birds always on the shoreline.
Unfortunately, the 2 shower/toilet blocks are in much need of modernising.
We’ve stayed in 100’s of campgrounds over the years and this was not up to scratch for 2020 at all.
The main issue was: constant queues for the 2 showers in each block, no matter what time or part of the day; same with the toilets but not as bad; nowhere to hang clothes, no shelf and the floors were really dirty with soil from the road and water logged, so a real job to juggle things in the shower without wanting to drop anything; The wash basins were grubby with water everywhere (no cloths to wipe up after you); The showers in the older block were often blocked.
There were cleaning staff on hand but the amount of visitors and general out of date design of the buildings meant they were not able to keep up.
On the plus side, the camp kitchen and outdoor eating was good. A really super convenient location too, 15 mins walk to Paihia and good walks from the Treaty Grounds.
Very quiet for us at night for our location next to the water.
Overall, if the facilities are renovated, this site would be excellent.

Stayed in a cabin for a few nights before and after a kayak trip in the Bay of islands.
The cabin was big and clean and had chairs and a picnic table overlooking the Bay. We got a lot of great bird pictures and videos from right in front of our cabin.
The two kitchens are big but they really need to clean the fridges out often. There were at least two jugs of milk 3 weeks past their expiry date, open packs of meat past their dates, and a shrink wrapped frozen pizza that was bulging badly-this only happens due to decomposition gases. This is a public health hazard. They tell people to label and date their food but they don’t give labels or pens for that purpose so nobody does it, so for most food you can’t tell how long it’s been there. They need to provide a way to label food and then clean the fridges out as a part of daily cleaning and take everything that isn't labeled and put it in a free bin or throw it out. This is what other similar places do and people quickly comply when it's enforced.
Since they deal with so many campers and travelers it would also help to have a freezer for people with frozen food and for freezing cooler packs. Enforcing labelling would keep it from filling up with left-behind cooler packs and food.
They also may have some kind of security problem with their computers. I received a number of phishing messages via the booking.com messaging app purporting to be from this place demanding that I send credit card information and over a month after staying there I'm still getting email about this issue. I don't think it’s booking.com’s fault because I booked with Booking.com for many other accommodations on this trip, and I have never heard from any of them except this one about any issue remotely like this.
Because of this issue I couldn't trust their wifi either and used my cellular data for any sensitive information.

Kia ora Thank you for taking the time to provide your detailed feedback. We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the beautiful bird life and scenery from your cabin. It’s truly special to experience the Bay of Islands from such a unique spot. Regarding the shared kitchen fridges, we appreciate your observations and suggestions. Our housekeeping team has addressed these concerns promptly, and we’re implementing regular fridge checks to ensure items are up to date and safe for use. We are also looking into providing clear labeling materials for guests, so they can help keep the space organised as you suggested. On the WiFi and security front, we understand the concern this raised. We have recently changed internet providers, and we have been working closely with Booking.com to resolve any security issues related to phishing. This was indeed a Booking.com messaging issue, and we’re pleased to report they’ve attended to it to prevent further incidents. We appreciate your feedback - it truly helps us improve the experience for all our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay in the future :)

Beware! Rufund policies have no room for grace and the staff are unsympathetic and rude. My husband and I booked in to go on a trip early February 2023 which cost me $215, but due to flooding in Auckland (you know, the houses being washed away, slips and road closures etc), there was no way we could make it. They have a strict no refund policy and boy do they stick to it. I emailed as soon as I found out we couldn't get there, which was a week out from the trip, tried to explain our situation, that we're stuck on the North Island, have no money, can't get to the campsite and can't get home because there are no ferries available, and I politely asked for at least a partial refund, and the staff didn't even acknowledge that we're going through a rough patch and simply said there's no way we'll get a refund. As I continued to question this policy their emails got more abrupt and more rude. Perhaps its their right not to refund, but to be downright rude is not cool at all. I'd strongly suggest to be extremely wary when booking with them.

As there are always 2 sides to every story here is ours. Our cancellation policy is strict but in place for a reason. As a courtesy to all of our guests we offered to rebook the same amount of nights at no charge to be used within a 3 month period. There are always some exceptions to the rule and we looked at these on a case by case basis. PLEASE readers of this when booking any accommodation ensure you read the cancellation policy thoroughly. The staff were very friendly and welcoming BUT, the park is overpriced for limited facilities that are in much need of updating. There were only 2 women's showers available on the night we stayed and the water pressure was so low, the shower only dribbled. The view over the estuary is lovely when the tide is in but beware of paying extra as a camper van for this view as you may well have a tent or smaller van put in front of you which will prevent you from enjoying the view. I think the costs are so high because it is near the treaty grounds! This is the highest price @94 dollars we have ever paid for a site and it just isn't with it.

Thank you for your review :) Our pricing is based on the average of the Parks around us and is charged per person. You paid $32 each adult and $15 per child which was the going rate on the day. We are looking into the water pressure issue, thanks for making us aware. Regards Michelle

We decided to cut or visit short at the holiday park, something we have never had to do in our 11 visits to NZ over the last 16 years.
We were camping on a powered site and disgusted by the amount of additional dog poo every morning.
Both of the male toilet shower blocks available were filthy and stank of urine. All three showers were unclean and poorly maintained, as were the toilets blocks in general. Three showers and the amount of toilets are clearly not enough for a holiday park of this size. In addition they should be cleaned and sanitised on a more regular basis during peak periods and not just the sinks wiped dry more than once a day.
In addition motor home owners should be discouraged and penalised for emptying their chemical waste cartridges in the toilet cubicles.
To top it all, the wifi was either none existent or extremely poor.
Finally on a good note, the receptionist took on board our complaints the day we decided we’d had enough and went around picking up the dog poo that was near our tent and couldn’t apologise enough when I brought this to her attention.

This a nice holiday park on the water. The facilities are clean but old and basic. The staff were pleasant but could have been more efficient. We made it clear when booking that we would be putting up an awning and were assured we’d been assigned a suitable, wide grassy site. So we were taken aback to find the site we were directed to was quite narrow and boggy, with a big tree. There was definitely no space for an awning. Fortunately we were allowed to move to another site.
The park is mostly quiet with no road noise but we could have done without staff roaring around on a quad bike and mowing the grass early in the morning. Why do holiday parks insist on waking campers up early? Not everyone is moving on the next day and people on holiday don’t want to be woken up and disturbed by noisy mowers first thing. That aside we enjoyed our stay but it is quite expensive for a basic camp. I guess you’re paying for the location.

Location, location, location. Thank you for your review, we do try to ensure everyone is on the best site for their set up. We are more than happy to move guests around to suit as we did for you. We have 2 amenities blocks with large kitchens, a fish and boat cleaning area, a TV lounge, 2 x laundries & several BBQ's. We are a working property and unfortunately mowing and taking care of rubbish must be done at all times of the day. Regards Michelle
