Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Basic Rooms with no running water, but there is a tap outside the rooms to fill Jug. Toaster, plates & utensils in room to use in shared kitchen. No Toilet or shower in the Rooms. Spacious space to stay in a Tent/s & staff were very accommodating with the amount of us that stayed. Much appreciated. We had a good stay at Waitangi Holiday Park & the staff were very helpful in providing all information prior to our visit. Great view of the water with a shower/toilet block for guests to use. Shared Kitchen with cooking facilities with a Zip Hot Water Tap. Clean & Tidy Holiday Park. We really enjoyed our stay here as a family with Adults & Children.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming BUT, the park is overpriced for limited facilities that are in much need of updating. There were only 2 women's showers available on the night we stayed and the water pressure was so low, the shower only dribbled. The view over the estuary is lovely when the tide is in but beware of paying extra as a camper van for this view as you may well have a tent or smaller van put in front of you which will prevent you from enjoying the view. I think the costs are so high because it is near the treaty grounds! This is the highest price @94 dollars we have ever paid for a site and it just isn't with it.

Thank you for your review :) Our pricing is based on the average of the Parks around us and is charged per person. You paid $32 each adult and $15 per child which was the going rate on the day. We are looking into the water pressure issue, thanks for making us aware. Regards Michelle

Beware! Rufund policies have no room for grace and the staff are unsympathetic and rude. My husband and I booked in to go on a trip early February 2023 which cost me $215, but due to flooding in Auckland (you know, the houses being washed away, slips and road closures etc), there was no way we could make it. They have a strict no refund policy and boy do they stick to it. I emailed as soon as I found out we couldn't get there, which was a week out from the trip, tried to explain our situation, that we're stuck on the North Island, have no money, can't get to the campsite and can't get home because there are no ferries available, and I politely asked for at least a partial refund, and the staff didn't even acknowledge that we're going through a rough patch and simply said there's no way we'll get a refund. As I continued to question this policy their emails got more abrupt and more rude. Perhaps its their right not to refund, but to be downright rude is not cool at all. I'd strongly suggest to be extremely wary when booking with them.

As there are always 2 sides to every story here is ours. Our cancellation policy is strict but in place for a reason. As a courtesy to all of our guests we offered to rebook the same amount of nights at no charge to be used within a 3 month period. There are always some exceptions to the rule and we looked at these on a case by case basis. PLEASE readers of this when booking any accommodation ensure you read the cancellation policy thoroughly. Regards Michelle

Lovely campground and perfect location! The boat ramp is super close and easy to use. Awesome that the camp has a boat wash and fish filleting option. Also amazing that dogs are allowed! Really loved it! Only little negative was that one of the staff was clearly overworked and not very friendly and quiet abrupt! All the others were nice and friendly to deal with though!

Great little park, it’s older style but has a good feel and friendly staff. We stayed in a cabin, they are basic but clean and comfortable. Close to town and shopping. Would stay again. Also close to haruru falls and other activities. A good little cafe close by also.

This a nice holiday park on the water. The facilities are clean but old and basic. The staff were pleasant but could have been more efficient. We made it clear when booking that we would be putting up an awning and were assured we’d been assigned a suitable, wide grassy site. So we were taken aback to find the site we were directed to was quite narrow and boggy, with a big tree. There was definitely no space for an awning. Fortunately we were allowed to move to another site. The park is mostly quiet with no road noise but we could have done without staff roaring around on a quad bike and mowing the grass early in the morning. Why do holiday parks insist on waking campers up early? Not everyone is moving on the next day and people on holiday don’t want to be woken up and disturbed by noisy mowers first thing. That aside we enjoyed our stay but it is quite expensive for a basic camp. I guess you’re paying for the location.

Location, location, location. Thank you for your review, we do try to ensure everyone is on the best site for their set up. We are more than happy to move guests around to suit as we did for you. We have 2 amenities blocks with large kitchens, a fish and boat cleaning area, a TV lounge, 2 x laundries & several BBQ's. We are a working property and unfortunately mowing and taking care of rubbish must be done at all times of the day. Regards Michelle

Honestly our experience was quite bad. The lounge was closed, half of the bathrooms were also closed which meant we had to go at the other end of the camping site for kitchen use etc. Also after we put up our tent, we left to go out in Paihia and came back to the campsite only to be locked out. There was no way to reach the staff, no one responded on the phone. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get a refund as we had paid online - that’s another issue to the list.

Arrived and was shown the park layout so we could choose our spot from the few pitches that were vacant. Picked a spot that at had a clear view. Spent three days here in total, but on day two, another Motorhome arrived that wanted to park right in front of us, literally 6 feet from our Motorhome in an unmarked pitch. Of course I asked him to move, but he wouldn’t. I approached the site reception staff who told me they told them to park there. And showed me a different pitch plan that had that space marked as a legitimate space. I suspect this was “their” plan..... Of course the chap in charge comes storming over to our Motorhome to show me his pitch plan, and then I showed him the plan I’d been given...both different! Ridiculous.......mine showed pitches with a clear view of the water, his showed Motorhome spaces so tightly packed in, including a pitch right in front of our awning.. The upshot was the van was moved away from our van. But not before it created a bad atmosphere between us and the offending camper van owners, who should have refused the park there in the first place as it was way to close to our Motorhome.. why are some people so inconsiderate? Anyway, met up with friends, ate some good food, drank some good wine.....but because of the dreadful unfriendly reception staff we won’t return. Not to mention the noise, the total lack of any modern facilities, the filthy dump area and the general state of the place with dogs running loose everywhere.......shame as It’s a great spot, but was just too overcrowded, vans rammed in to every inch. And no one policing it.....I suspect someone was making some extra money somewhere. Worst camp site out of the 11 we stayed on during our four week trip.... The manager, who was a big bloke, should be more careful getting in the face of a 60 year old women. Dreadful behaviour......totally unacceptable and unwarranted...

Feral was the word our neighbours used to describe Waitangi Holiday Park and it fits perfectly. In spite of a confirmation email which we showed the staff and manager, we were told upon arrival that our booking was later in the month. Receptionist was super-helpful but spent 30 minutes trying to track down the manager who didnt answer any phones before we were asked if we would stay on a tent site (which wasnt what we had booked, prepaid for or had confirmed on the email) before being put onto a site in the hope the people who had booked it wouldnt turn up. Many people we spoke to discussed there bookings being mucked up too. Site was flat and powere5 toilets for ladies and 5 for men, often 1-2 blocked at the same time (that wasnt pleasant) 4 showers for women and 4 for men with queues night and morning. The showers and toilets really needed a good dose of hot water and disinfectant, which we never saw. The cleaners used a dry mop to sweep the kitchen, that just wasnt going to cut anything. Again, no criticism of staff - they meant well but their didnt seem to be any processes or regularity or adequacy with cleaning. BBQ was great, location good, prices fair, staff helpful and hardworking - its just the lack of cleanliness
