Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would highly recommend booking with this provider. Honest and understanding when travel restrictions affected our plans and provided us a refund. However my advise would be to book directly with them as Agoda (who we booked with) makes it too difficult to obtain refunds via the app.

We were a large family gathering with small children. The weather wasn't that cooperative for our BBQ. The host was helpful in arranging a space and encouraging us to gather out door furniture to make a successful evening.
Rooms basic but clean and tidy.
Beach across the road.

Stayed here for 3 nights and found the motel a pleasant place to stay.
We booked a sea view room and found the view from the large veranda fantastic.
Our room was clean and spacious with a large comfy bed. The facilities in the kitchen were excellent and enough items to make our stay very comfortable. The town is just a short stroll away where there are plenty of places to eat along with the ferry ride to Russell.
Overall this was a great place to stay and would stay again if in the area.

We stayed with our 3 children in a one bedroom apartment. Had a glimpse of the water. Really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were kept very clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Next time we would love to stay in the apartments at the front which have full sea views.

Terrible internet so don't count on it. Good view and nice room. Plenty of room and very clean. Lots to do in the area. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. But bring your own data with you.

When we went to cancel our booking due to family circumstances we were informed that we would be liable for the charge our whole stay regardless - they have " a no cancellation fee", instead you are fully liable..... we were not informed of this "policy" at the time of the booking and neither is it displayed anywhere on their website. When we objected, our credit card was immediately charged and we were told they would "do their utmost to rebook our room and if so, would provide a refund"..... How hard do you think they would have tried? We are close to $500 out of pocket and extremely upset. Be very very very sure that no circumstances may intervene to alter your ravel plans before choosing to book this hotel.

We were travelling as 2 couples and booked the seaview units for the 3 night special. The units are older style but very clean, spacious and wonderfully central. We struck unusually cold weather but were very cosy, we enjoyed the continually changing scenery, even managing drinks on the deck. The manager was very helpful and directed us to some good eateries within easy walking distance, Would stay again.

Very nice location and good views.. Just a few minutes walk from the main town / restaurants… The hostess is very helpful… The room was good but not good enough for the price... The TV in our room did not work (may be because of the rain) and there was no wireless internet range in the room.. We booked a waterfront view room for $165 a night, but the room felt a little old… There are many hotels in Paihia like the relatively new kingsgate next door), so you may want to check out the deals elsewhere.

We were at Bayview Motel during New Zealand summer time (January 2016) for 3 days.,

Pros:
● Overall, the place looks clean.
● The owner is a very nice person, but this does not surprise as it is New Zealand.
●The views are very nice.
● Paihia is a small, small town and the vast majority of the hotels/motels are in front of the ocean. So, wherever you choose to go and book an accommodation in Paihia it is probably be in front of the ocean. Hence, we didn't bother to book a room in front of the sea, and we saved some good money due to that. Our advice is to book a "no-views" room.
● With regards to the previous section, the motel is obviously in walking distance from Paihia town Centre. Remember that the town is small....
Room is cleaned everyday.

Cons:
■ Major con is that the room doesn't have an air conditioning system. Northland region of New Zealand, where Paihia is located, is wityin the sub-tropical climate zone. It means that it is hot there (as opposed to other ares to the south). We think that the two floor ventilators we had in our unit were not helpfully to ease the heat when indoor. We didn't open the windows because there were many bugs from all sizes, that freaked us out. So please owners of the motel, invest in air-conditioning systems. It will make a huge impact on visitors.
■ The hot tub was smelly in both visits we entered there. It's not the regular smell of the water cleaning materials, but kind of other unpleasant smell. Also, when we entered with our two small kids the water level went over the top of the tub's walls and the water poured out and all our bag was wet due to that.
■ Internet is free, BUT it is very limited in data caps, and very, very, very slow. We think that in nowadays, when Internet providers in New Zealand offer unlimited data plans, the motel could do wisely and offer a free, unlimited, and faster Internet to its clients.
■ The motel advertises Sky TV, but please be warned that it was not so. All of the offered channels were less than 10, and you do not have all Disney, movies etc. channels that you normally have on Sky TV. Moreover, we didn't have even all the regular channels that are free-to-air. It's a big con if you have kids or teenagers with you, we suppose.

************************
General speaking, if you are from New Zealand or coming to visit our beautiful country and northland region more than once, you can definitely pick this motel. However, if you seek a pleasant, well ventilated rooms to relax yourselves from the heat of the region, then I'd go to another place. Believe me, it's not a luxury of having a well-ventilated room without bugs. It's basic in a well known touristic town.

I booked 2 nights of Bayview Motel via AA website From Dec 24th to Dec 25th. $480 per night for 3 bedroom unit. The condition of toilet and bathroom is very bad. Mould in the ceiling. Not friendly staff in the counter. Never say hello to customers. The so-called 3 bedroom unit was changed from a rumpus. It is the worst motel I ever live in last 7 year in NZ. Bayview motel will definitely compromise AA's good fame. From now on, I will not use AA online booking for motel.

Regards,
Wei

During this period, I was absent from the motel and had employed a motel minder. I was very disappointed to read this review, as all my other reviews have been very favourable. The bathroom ceiling did have a few black spots on it and this was cleaned immediately upon my return, following an inspection of the motel units. I apologise profusely to these guests for their bad experience.
