We stayed for 3 nights in February 2021. Great greeting from our host, who was very kind and very helpful. The room was lovely, nice decor, very roomy, comfy bed, with a great deck and views. the beach a short talk down the hill and track had lovely golden sand and very private. We walked along the beach every day and night, and it was an easy walk. If you missed the tide it was a hike up the hill!!
We stayed for three nights in a two bedroom apartment. Superb views and very roomy clean apartment. Theo was an excellenthost who couldn’t have been more helpful. The steep driveway is a bit of a disadvantage but the privacy and views are worth it. There are steps down to the beach which are quite steep and would be greatly improved if the handrail went all the way down.
We stayed for two nights at The Ferns on our honeymoon. I loved the indoor/outdoor space, and the view was magnificent. It felt secluded, even though it was part of a larger building. We caught both sunrises and sunsets, and each were spectacular. An easy walk along the beach to the town for meals - although I would recommend having a flashlight in the evening. Fair warning - there was no AC. The host made us feel welcome.
We stayed for 9 nights in the All View Suite and it was awesome. It is a very large unit with the most fantastic views of the bay. There are 2 very comfortable queen beds, plenty of storage space. The shower is very nice and there is also a large soaker tub with a view. We enjoyed many of our meals on the balcony, and there is a BBQ available. In a common area just off the unit there is a shared washer and dryer, drying racks, beach towels and a few books you can borrow. The kitchen is equipped with kettle, Nespresso machine, French press, dishes and utensils, an electric fry pan, toaster - everything you need for meals. There are grocery stores in short driving distance. At low tide you could go down the 100 or so steps to the beach and walk to tpwn along the shore, otherwise a quick drive. Hated to leave! Thanks to Theo, very helpful and accommodating.…
Spend 5 nights in the SeaShell suite in March 2019. We really enjoyed the suite - great location, great views and Theo was very helpful/informative. We loved the walk, along the beach during low tide, in to town. Would definitely stay there again!
Bay of Islands Beach House is a house located in a neighborhood on a very steep hill. The ad said that you could walk down to the beach and use their kayaks for free. This was what I had hoped but it was not to be. The road in to the Beach House was narrow, windy and steep. There was no place to park at the bottom of the steep hill so we would have had to walk down and back up. We are in our mid 70s so this was not something we could do. Both have knee issues. The drive in to town was only about 6 minutes and we always found a place to park. The town is fun to walk around and there are plenty of good restaurants. We did go kayaking with a local paddling company. This was a fun way to spend a morning. I would have given this lodging a better overall rating if it weren't so difficult to get in and out of the driveway and road. Also, the house numbering system caused some confusion upon our arrival. The room was like a studio apartment with a small deck. We did our own breakfasts and we used the laundry. The studio apartment was clean and well stocked.…
Theos apartment is quietly located, comfortably furnished and very well equipped (cooking utensils, microwave, washing machine, beach towels available, barbecue, mosquito nets at all windows etc). The apartment is very well maintained and clean. We particularly liked the terrace with the great view of the bay and the kayaks, which are available free of charge. There are also life jackets for children, that was especially great. The beautiful beach is within walking distance and we would have like to stay much longer. We felt like in paradise. Thank you Theo, you are a great host!
Our apartment was a gorgeous, well-maintained and equipped, large unit with a big balcony overlooking beautiful Paihia bay. It is a short walk down to a small secluded beach. The only reason I don't rate it the highest, is the steep access and hard parking involved in getting in and out of the unit.
The property, the location were excellent and the views stunning. The hosts were most welcoming with a glass of something to greet us. They were on hand if needed but discreet. I left a jacket behind in error and they were very quick to post it on to me. This Really a place to be recommended. Dawn and Peter, Wirral, England
We recently stayed in the Beachhouse and it suited our needs wonderfully. It has 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, great balcony with bbq, fantastic views and a bathroom with a multitude of towels. Heating is available but the Living room also has a fire place and we enjoyed the open fire one cold and wet afternoon. Beds have electric blankets which were also welcomed. You can walk to town but this is restricted at high tide. Parking available onsite and don’t be afraid of the steep driveway, you can turn your car around in the parking space so as to drive out again. Theo, your host, is welcoming and on hand if you need any advice, A great spot to enjoy Paihia and the Bay of Islands.
