Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated close to the beach and a short walk to the shops, parking for our van was great - Fresh water close and dump station was on our site which was great - additional dump stations around. We will definitely be back.

Unlike some of the recent posts, we had a great experience at Bay of Islands Campervan Park. It is a small site, beautifully landscaped, with olive trees between each bay. Efficiently run by Jan, the owner, who knows the area well and helped with tour bookings - she even offered to drive us down to town to pay for the tour. It is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk to the center of Paihia and Waitangi - very convenient. The communal area was very clean and there was good wifi. I am giving a 4 rating because of the limited facilities compared to other campsites we stayed at (no kitchen, showers chargeable - though it didn't affect us as we were in a self contained van) and the noise from the main road (though the road goes through the center of town as well.) We looked at the Waitangi HP as well but chose this one for its compact size. Very pleased we did.

This was one of the best campsite that we visited during our stay on the north Island The hostess was extremely helpful and friendly. The showers were excellent with lots of hot water. Although it does not have an actual kitchen, the covered BBQ area served us well and there is a very good area for washing dishes. The washer/dryers were good. The bathrooms and showers very clean. It was nice to have the olive trees that separated each camper site. CountDown is just across the street for easy shopping, and the beach is an easy 5min walk away. We highly recommend this stop in Paihia.

Great location, just across the road from countdown and an easy walk to Waitangi, restaurants and the beach. Checking in is an eye opener with a manager who's a bit dramatic. Maybe it was just a bad day for her but all the other campers we spoke to had similar stories. Apart from that it's a nice place with decent facilities. The sites are on the small side but still manageable.

The bathrooms & toilets were dirty and I never saw any cleaners in the 4 days that we stayed out of the 7. Management was also not the friendliest either, only saw one person the full time, this might be the reason. The stands were great, fully grassed with drink water and dumping stations widely available.

The sites were very narrow, not ideal especially as we were there for Christmas and would have liked to be able to sit outside properly instead of tucked behind our caravan. We had to leave a day early due to an emergency with work commitments, tried calling to tell them and tried emailing but no reply to this day. We left at 6.45am a day early but no refund for the night we weren't there, $84 down the drain. A bit unfair considering they weren't fully booked. Also bathrooms we're dirty the whole time and showers are $2 a shower. No kitchen was a surprise. Not worth the money that's for sure!! $84 a night and very basic.

One of the least appealing campgrounds we've ever stayed at. Stayed for 5 nights over Christmas as everywhere else was already pretty booked out. No kitchen and the BBQ area was non operational. 4 toilets and 4 showers for the whole campground, which were pretty grubby the whole time we stayed there, it appeared they never got cleaned. The Manager was not particularly helpful either. As already mentioned by other people, the sites are super narrow and hardly enough room to put the awning out with a lot of overhanging shrubbery. Will definitely not return here.

Really enjoyed our stay at this campsite. Jan was an amazing host and went out of her way to accommodate our group. She was knowledgeable and helpful with parking and amenities. Highly recommend this beautiful oasis for a stay in the Bay of Islands. Jools

We stayed here for one night before our Bay of Islands trip. The camp ground was extremely easy to find, with a check and efficient check in process! The facilities were also really good with clean showers/toilets and access to laundry! The lady we checked in with was extremely helpful, friendly and suggested helpful tips for staying in New Zealand!

Met with a very warm welcome. The site was very clean and well laid out with facilities for able bodied and disabled visitors. The showers were exceptional with huge amount of space and brilliant water flow and control. Cost $2 for 4 minutes of water. The washing up facility was behind the laundry. The laundry cost $4 ea for washer and drier. On the site there are multiple grey/black water dump points spaced around the site along with drinking water supplies. The only thing missing for us was a camp kitchen but this did not detract from our enjoying the stay here. The site is well place and provides easy access to both Paihia and the Whitangl Treaty Ground. An added bonus is the Countdown store opposite the site. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for a friendly site at the right money
