Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small campground, very pretty, super friendly hosts, huge showers, dog friendly. Owner has a dog too, so genuinely welcoming of our two big dogs. Showers are coin operated ($2 coin) so stock up on these when you check in, as office is not staffed for quite a large part of the day. They also own the holiday apartments next door. Five minute walk to the beach and Countdown is across the road.

Nice park-like grounds. Facilities were fine - they had locked some of the showers/toilets I am assuming due to smaller tourist numbers with covid, but we never once had to wait so this was no issue at all. Although we encountered having to pay $2 for a shower elsewhere on our travels, I really wish we were just charged an extra $2 a night instead. Supermarket across road and handy to other locations. I wouldn't say it was an easy walk into the town centre - although I am pregnant so nothing is easy at the moment haha!

The only downsides are the noise from the road from early in the morning till late at night, and the neighbour in a wee shack runs a generator till the early hours which was very loud. Unfortunately this stuff is out of the camps control, so just something you have to be patient with and understanding of!

We visited in December with a campervan and stayed at this location. We were able to self check-in and setup without any booking or anyone present. You just check the whiteboard for the available parks and take your spot.

The campervans are parked between the olive trees and is very peaceful and quiet. The park has hot showers toilets, dump sites, free water, and Wi-Fi.

When the owner/host Jan arrived, she gave us a quick but thorough briefing of the park with her dog Ollie! Jan also gave us a map of the Bay of Islands and drew out the best places to visit, eat, and to park. She even drew a map of where the parking wardens roam!

Would definitely visit here again!

We're a family of 4 (with 2x kids under 5yrs) who travelled around Northland for the very first time in a motorhome for 2x weeks from Wairarapa. This by far was the best paid-parking spot we found on our trip - a lovely, tidy section of olive grove with lots of shade/trees but plenty of sun too. The facilities were plentiful, thoughtful (hair dryers provided, family showers, charging stations for campers, etc.) and very clean! Security was great and overall the customer service was superb (the Owner was lovely, friendly, welcoming and helpful re: travel and attractions, services nearby etc.). The parking spots were spacious and each came with an outdoor table and outdoor chairs. We loved that we weren't right in the middle of town but were across the road from Countdown and just down the road from the petrol station while still being a 15min walk or 5min bike-ride into town or down to the beach. Highly recommended! We will be back :)

We initially drove past the Bay of Islands Holiday Park and Apartments heading for another and so pleased we did a u-turn with Jan returning our missed call when we were on the way.

An absolute fabulous camper, caravan and tent park with apartments at the rear of the property. Each spot is separated by Olive trees, the park and amenities (which are fully wheel chair accessible) are sparkling clean with everything you'll require.

And if they don't have it, Jan would just about move heaven and earth to source it.

Jan and her gorgeous side kick Ollie are delightful - Jan was so friendly and helpful with suggestions on things to, places to go and even organised a cruise for us after hours.

We were initially only staying one night however stayed for 2 as it was that great. We enjoyed some great banter and look forward to returning.

Thanks Jan & Ollie for everything. Best wishes & see you again soon :-)

Our group of 4 and two dogs stayed in our RV 1 night on a powered sight, the staff was very friendly and informative.
Unfortunately it was a muddy mess because of the top grass that was laid on top of gravel. With two dogs it was a huge hassle to have a mud pit outside the camper, plus we almost got stuck when leaving because the mud was so thick. We were disappointed that the hot tub advertised on the website was not operational and we were told it is only for appartments guests anyway.

Great place for campervans. We stayed two nights and the owner was super helpful with issues with our campervan and also knowledgeable of the area. Facilities were very clean and it was a nice quiet place to stay. Really enjoyed our time there. Countdown is just across the road and there is a great little cafe about 10min walk away. Lovely beach.

we stayed here in a campervan and were really impressed by the eco friendly attitude adopted at the holiday park. The amenities were clean and spacious and the lady in reception was really friendly and super helpful. The park is well positioned to local attractions and the lady has some fabulous tips. Loved that there was a dog there it made me feel very at home.

After a few days on the road and batteries running down it was great to come to such a warm and welcoming place as BoI Campervan Park. Very reasonable rates. Powered and unpowered sites, Magnificent shower- room plus toilets and kitchen if you are sick of your camper's cramped space. Free wifi. Super friendly host. Walk to Waitangi or into Paihia. Everything you need.

Toilets were clean and staff were lovely but that's about it. We were given a very boggy site to park our caravan so very muddy feet. Only campground in our whole trip who's cooking facilities we're closed to Covid and we were not told till we arrived that night so completely stuffed us with meals. Also only campground we had to pay for showers. No playground or anything at all for kids. It's just a padock with clean toilets.
