Detailed Reviews
This B & B was recommended to us by some other travellers. It's has a lovely lookout to the ocean and is equipped with all you need. Hosts are lovely and welcoming and provide a continental style breakfast in your room.

We had a great stay in a purpose-built, well-run, clean property. The host and hostess went out of their way to make sure all was well. In addition, they provided us info on where to go and not to go, where to eat and not to eat, etc.
The rooms come with refrigerator, microwave, electric skillet, hot-water jug, dishware, glassware, cutlery, and cooking utensils.
Your continental breakfast is delivered to you the night before, so you eat when you want to, in private.
As of March 2008, the place appeared to be only a year old or thereabouts.
I liked the fact that it was a drive, or at least a healthy walk, to the town center. That kept the area quiet at night. Younger people may not like that, but this isn't the kind of place for backpackers and six-to-a-room university students anyway.

Just had 2 nights at this very welcoming spot in Paihia. The hosts , Elaine & Jim , are wonderful to guests, who are basically staying in their home. Very helpful about where to go, to do and to eat. We chose one of their recommendations, Green’s, and it was fantastic. Thai/Indian dishes and excel, ent. We also walked back to the residence along the beach at low tide. The unit is comfortable and quiet, and the breakfast was perfect. Would certainly stay here again or recommend it to friends.

Enjoyed the pleasant and interesting host couple were super helpful about places to go and what to do. Convenient (by car) to the nearby sights and coast. It was still chilly so we didn't use the porch but it looked quite nice.

Whilst in New Zealand visiting the Bay of Islands is a must. We discovered Anchor House on line and pre booked on line. Our hosts Elaine and Jim are just fabulous. Our studio apartment is just perfect, clean, well appointed with our own private out door area. We have sea views, close proximity to all tourists outlets, free wi fi, excellent options for cooking plus a guest barbecue.

Anchor House is a beautiful spot with sea views and very clean, comfortable units. It is set a few minutes of the main street of Paihia which was fabulous for us, much quieter than central Paihia appeared to be. We were here for 2 nights and would certainly stay again.

This is the second day of our weeks holiday, and we already feel compelled to write a review. I think what has pleased us the most are our hosts, Elaine and Jim, who really cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and at home - home made cake even arrived this morning! The apartment is very well appointed, clean and comfortable, with a sea view out into the bay. The town of Paihia is a good walk away, so easier to drive, or in our case ride. We would highly recommend Anchor House to anyone. Thank you Elanine and Jim.

How to describe Anchor House in one word? -Fantastic! Beautifully located, stunning views with clean and cosy accommodation. Hosts were phenomenal, welcoming and incredibly friendly.
I had originally planned to visit Paihai with my cousin but unfortunately his plans changed and he flew home early. I dealt mainly with Elaine who was so lovely and caring. She was extremely helpful when it came to arranging transport, she even made sure that the tour I had booked for the second day picked me up from nearby. This was so that I did not have to walk in to town on my own in the early hours. I feel that she went above and beyond to make my time in Paihia as relaxing and memorable as possible.
I can't rate this B&B highly enough. My only regret is that I did not stay there longer! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

The unit was excellent, comfortable and spotless and we were guttered that we couldn't stay longer
Amazing friendly host are Elaine and Jim
Elaine even offered to drive us over the hill to town the next morning but we adventured around the foreshore instead (great scenic walk to town and would recommend to others)
We would have stayed longer but could only book one night as their units were already pre booked out the following night and now I see why
They were so accommodating and even let us to store our riding gear and motorbike that next day while we out explored Paihia
