Rayma and Phillip are the most fantastic hosts you could wish for. They really make you feel at home, prepare a delicious breakfast, and you just can't refuse their pre-dinner social hour with local wine and homemade hors d'oeuvres. They offer a warm welcome and generous hospitality. We stayed in one of their 3 beautiful spacious rooms. Phillip told us all about the history of their elegant colonial villa, which was very interesting. Just a 12 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the heart of Napier City. We did the so-called Art Deco walk in the centre of Napier and it really comes highly recommended! In short, we had a wonderful stay.

This is simply an excellent place to stay. The hosts Rayma and Phillip are welcoming, friendly and provide a wonderful service which is like staying with friends rather than strangers. The house is exquisite, the garden wonderful the rooms full of character. If you add in the location cleanliness and wonderful breakfast this is a winner. Thank you so much Rayma and Phillip our stay was fantastic.

We stayed two nights at Cobden Garden B&B where we met the hosts Philip and Rayma. From the moment we arrived they were warm, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The house is filled with antiques and fascinating items they have collected. It is on the top of a hill making the walk to the town of Napier easy, and an inexpensive taxi ride back. Philip and Rayma welcomed us with wine and canapes, together with the other guests, on our first evening. Breakfasts were superb and cooked to order. It would be difficult to imagine more considerate or kind hosts! We highly recommend Cobden Garden to anyone wanting a quiet, delightful place to stay in Napier.

Thank you for the review and for mentioning so many aspects of a stay with us. You are very generous with your praise. We are delighted you appreciated so much of what we offer and thank you for recommending the B&B as a quiet place to stay. Whilst in the suburbs we are only a 12–15-minute walk to the Art Deco heart of Napier. So many of our guests enjoy the evening get "togethers" and the chance to share their experience but of course these times are pure gold for us too. Again thank you and best wishes.

Our hostess and host (Rayma and Phillip) could not do enough for us! Greeting us when we arrived with a welcome cuppa and homemade cake. BTW, Rayma, I am awaiting your delicious date cake recipe! The accommodation was superb and they gave us lots of useful advice on where to eat in Napier. Port wine provided at bedtime- wow! Breakfasts were delicious and generously portioned. We accidentally left a kindle behind when we left and this was found and sent on to our future accommodation with our hosts refusing to be reimbursed. Nothing was too much trouble with Phillip even cleaning the front window of the car before we left! Stellar and so generous!

Rayma and Philip are excellent hosts. Everything is geared to you. Visitors are made to feel like welcome guests. Really appreciated the early evening pre dinner drink and Rayma’s freshly prepared canapés. It was a bonus to be able to sit down and chat whilst learning about life in New Zealand. Wide choice for breakfast and I’m already missing the French Toast.

Rayma and Phillip are true super hosts! We had an exceptional stay in their historical villa 15 minutes walking from downtown Napier. We were pampered with wine & hors d'oeuvres, a night cap, home made breakfast, fresh flowers in the room. Hosts gave great suggestions for sightseeing and local restaurants. Learned a lot about New Zealand as well. Highly recommended!!

What a perfect weekend. From the warm welcome (afternoon tea and homemade fruit cake on the sunny veranda) to the charming conversation over pre-dinner drinks and delicious canapes, we felt thoroughly spoilt throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious, immaculate and thoughtfully furnished - with everything you would expect in a luxury hotel. Coming home after dinner to turndown with port and chocolates made us feel very special. The house and hosts are full of interesting stories! A memorable experience for all the right reasons. Thank you Rayma and Philip.

Cobden Garden B&B was a lovely place to stay in Napier, Hawke's Bay. A beautiful home with many serene spaces to enjoy, specifically the garden & sun room. The room was great with a beautiful view of the bay. The hosts, Rayma & Philip, were super sweet and hospitable. We enjoyed chatting with them over tea+cake and wine+canapes. We returned from dinner to find a carafe of port & chocolates in our room. Also, the breakfast spread was phenomenal - couldn’t have been better! Every detail made Cobden Garden B&B a must-stay in the area! We only booked for one night, but would have happily stayed for many more.

Staying at charming Cobden Garden on Napier Hill was a highlight of our 5 week trip through New Zealand. Rayma and Phil are wonderful welcoming hosts who generously gave of their time to talk about New Zealand. We had many questions since this was our first (but hopefully not our last) trip to stunningly gorgeous New Zealand. Cobden Garden is beautifully located in an upscale quiet neighborhood overlooking wetlands and nice gardens. Getting to downtown Napier with all the beautiful Art Deco buildings and restaurants as well as the wineries was very easy by car. Our room was large and the bed was very comfortable and came with a beautiful large modern bathroom. The well presented made to order breakfasts that Rayma and Phil provide are outstanding. They also made excellent restaurant, excursion and winery recommendations. Staying at intimate well-run bed and breakfasts like Cobden Garden made a huge difference in our enjoyment and understanding of New Zealand.

Awesome. If you can find any fault with this place you will never be happy. Great people, great home, great room, great advice, great extras (amazing breakfast but more impressive was the small carafe of port waiting in our room with crystal glasses upon our return after dinner out). And the chat with wine and canapes made it almost impossible to head out we were so relaxed and comfortable. Rayma and Phil did everything possible to make Napier even more enjoyable than it already was. Thanks are just not enough. You have to go !
