Don't be put off by reviews that this used to be a private hospital.
Yes, you can tell that it wasn't built as a motel but the owners have added quirky little things everywhere to make it fun.
Most importantly, it is very clean and the staff are so friendly AND your pets are allowed too, which is hard to find. And all that at a very reasonable price in a lovely neighbourhood.
For us it was an ideal stop over on our travels further north and we will definitely book again!

I picked this hotel because I could cancel if I didn't travel and it was close to where I needed to be. It was not what I expected but I had two very good days. The staff were very informative and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the air-conditioning worked so I had a cool sleep.I diid like the family atmosphere and that I was able to prepare and cook my own meals. There was an eating area, a guest laundry and a sitting/games area that was comfortable and relaxing. My only criticism is the decor, it is dated and the showers certainly need to be upgraded from the hospital design that is there now, also some minor maintenance needs to carried out ie the broken powerpoint plate. All in all a pleasant stay the location was very quite. So would I stay here again Yes I would.

Lovely little place with friendly staff. Very clean and good facilities on offer, including a shared kitchen. Located between the town centre and the wineries so nothing is too far away. Would definitely recommend if you're wanting to save a bit of money and do things on a budget!

This an ex elderly care home which we didn’t know prior to finding our room.
Arriving late, as travelling from Wellington we found our details & key as arranged but the letter enclosed didn’t have correct information which wasn’t helpful.
No information in our room about the facilities, no milk in the fridge, a tv that was hopeless, 2 standard single beds in a single size room, wardrobe without any hangers, no drawers, leaky sink / tap onto the only surface to put things in the bathroom, filthy mirror..... the walls are thin & floor was so noisy even creeping around we felt guilty for disturbing the people downstairs.
There’s a coke machine in the bottom stairwell that sounds like a jet engine!
After disturbing the staff looking for milk for a well overdue cuppa on arrival we were told there was some ‘made up’ in jugs in the communal kitchen downstairs.
Our room was generally clean but in the morning the common areas smelt like an old retirement home; yes I’ve been in plenty!
The location for Mission Estate was handy & one staff member was helpful in the morning but for us that’s where the positives finished.
We’d definitely not stay again.

Situated outside Napier this was not the perfect location nor was it the perfect Motel. The room was clean and tidy but the bathroom was average and the a communal kitchen and laundry was not ideal. Friendly staff but a 3 night stay was probably 2 nights too many

This place is simple, but simply it does everything really well. Yes, it's former purpose can be guessed by the nature of the room layouts, but this doesn't take away from what is a lovely setting in suburbia.

Staff really friendly and helpful. Characters, and gave good advice as to where to go and what to see in Napier.

It is a little way from the centre (we had a car), but I understand the local buses get you around pretty well.

If Napier is included on your travels you really can't go wrong staying here.

Stated at the Lodge recently while on holidays in NZ. Great location, convenient to everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave great suggestions on places to visit/eat in the local area. The lodge its self was clean, well appointed and maintained and had a great homely feel. The full kitchen was an added bonus... saved loads of money being able to prepare my own breakfasts and lunches. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone and will definitely stay there again.

Very clean, this is a must for me. Room was small but adequate. Shower was good but floor did get rather wet with shower curtain being so short! We had booked a deluxe queen, when we queried our room which had a double bed; was told this was a queen and our room was the largest so it was deluxe. Different interpretations and a bit cheeky. Continental breakfast was muesli, yoghurt and fruit; once again different interpretations. Staff were friendly when we saw them. Clean towels every day plus bed made. Overall would stay there again.

Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff on arrival with lots of tips on where to go and what to do. You really need transport to explore Napier easily from here. Clean and comfortable rooms for the price (a bonus is that is cheap!) however, you can hear every sound, especially people walking along the corridor making the floors creek and doors opening/closing. Bring earplugs and you'll be in for a good stay.

This hotel wasn’t quite what we expected it to be like. Inside the decor and layout is very dated and could do with a serious makeover.
However saying that, the rooms on our ground floor were adequate, the bed was very comfortable, there was a small fridge and tea & coffee facilities in the room. Shower was ok in the on-suite wet room.
There was also a well equipped kitchen with lots of crockery, stove, kettle, fridge and tea, coffee, milk etc for no extra cost, for the use of all guests on the ground floor.

Could have done with a lounge somewhere.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Would I recommend...we thought it was rather over priced and not up to modern expectations but we were comfortable and we only needed it for one night.

Hello. The lodge is not meant to be modern- it is art deco style and designed for guests who like a relaxed friendly atmosphere. There is a lounge upstairs with SKY tv etc. We believe we give excellent value for money. Guests love congregating in our outdoor dining area and bbq on warm nights. The place is designed so guests can mingle. I don't think we are overpriced for what we offer- tea coffee milk and toilettres in rooms, games room, free swap libraries, fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine and grinder, free use of bbq.
