Detailed Reviews
Two one night stays in October. First stay was in a 01 room which is at end of building. Unfortunately, the window that has a blind, even when closed, still lets lots of light into the room. Difficult to sleep. Mentioned to reception who said Manager was aware of this and dealing with it. Room nicely decorated.
Second one night stay, made sure I was not in the 01 room...however, the room was very battered, paint missing/cracked, scuff marks and even some stains on the wall which could easier be cleaned off.
Early morning traffic noise as a main road, that goes past Port ....probably less so on higher floors.
Staff friendly and welcoming when booking on phone and on arrival/departure, includes reception, cleaning staff and restaurant/bar staff. When arriving the second time, wanted to pay by EFPOS card to avoid surcharge. Was told that I could pay on departure, in case I wanted to charge any meals etc (credit card on their system). By the time I got back to reception for departure, they had already charged credit card.
If you are booking try to get a room higher up and I'd recommend you avoid the ground floor (level 1) rooms as they are a dog friendly hotel and dogs allowed to sleep in these rooms. Rooms are apparently sanitised and dogs have their own bed to sleep in but knowing dogs, I'm sure a lot of them will be up on and in the beds. Plus at level 1, anyone walking past can look directly into the room. Even on the floor above, I felt like I was in a goldfish bowl.

Kia Ora Beverly, Thank you for all of your feedback. This has been shared to our leadership team. The hotel has been dog friendly for more than 14 years and our furry friends have proved to be expectational guests. These rooms do have a different cleaning regime, and we have not had any issues, so I don't believe guests need to avoid level 1. Kind regards Katie Silcock

This hotel is in a very good location with availability for car parking free of charge. Rooms have good views and despite being on a busy road they were not noisy. Comfortable beds and buffet breakfast was more than adequate but we would recommend that you pay a little extra for a decent cup of coffee.

Pros: Great location. Large, bright, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Lots of storage surfaces in the room for suitcases. Milk in fridge for in-room coffee or tea.
Cons: No pool or gym, although apparently you can use the public town recreational centre across the street (The gym, not the pool). And the beach across the street is not recommended for swimming. Room access is via an actual key with a large, awkward plastic key chain that has your room number on it (raises a security issue if lost), instead of swipe cards or door lock combos. Very easy to forget the key in your room. The view is of the buildings across the street and not the water unless you are on a top floor.

We stayed 2 nights at the Scenic view hotel in Napier, which is more than the single nights all the coach tours kept coming in for. Despite asking for a view we were put on the 2nd floor which is really the 1st floor as there is no ground floor. Our view was of buildings across the busy road outside. The room and its large windows was roomy and comfortable. Staff were unhelpful and only tried to promote their own dining room rather than help tourists find places to drink and eat.

Not too impressed with this place. The lobby is so small that when a large group arrives, as we did, we couldn't all get in the door with our lugguge. Even when you're on your own, the two lifts are so close to the front door, that the automatic doors keep opening & closing whilst you wait. Ridiculous. The Dining Room only has one small toaster for the whole of breakfast service, resulting in long queues & long waits. My room was large & comfortable, but the bathroom tiny. The location of the hotel is good, with many rooms having a sea-view (through the Nordic pines) and it's close to downtown with its pubs & bars. OK for one night.

The Curve restaurant was poor in service. The restaurant was unable manage group dinner and turn hotel guests away. Very disappointing.
The room was dated, amenities were very limited.
The only consolation was availability self service laundry at cost NZ$2 per wash n per dry.

Kia Ora , Thank you for your review. I would like to note that the restaurant was fully booked with 90 people on the evening in question. We offer guests chargeback facilities at two nearby restaurants as alternative options. I have taken on your feedback regarding the amenities. All the best Katie Silcock General Manager

We arrived here for 2 nights the afternoon before the cyclone hit Napier . Lovely hotel and room and great views . Had to eat in the hotel first night as town had shut down and the meal was very good. The next day with no power, internet, and all roads out of Napier flooded or washed away the hotel staff did an amazing job of looking after us and all the guests who were stuck there , with very little news themselves of what was happening . They provided meals with dwindling supplies and did not hike the prices up . They were also very relaxed about whether we needed our room for extra nights given that we couldn’t drive anywhere. Thank you for your understanding. I’m sorry that we didn’t get to see the local wine region

Kia Ora Diane, Thank you so much for taking the time to review us and thank you for your kind words. The cyclone has done damage to our region and especially the first few days right after it as communications were mostly cut off. However, I am grateful that we have gone through the worst time together. Even though there are still a lot to do for the region and family here to be fully recovered, it has taken good progress toward it. Thank you again Diane. We wish you all the best for the rest of your trip and had safe trip home. Nga mihi, Mick Yuan Assistant Manager

The beds were very comfortable and the room felt warm and cosy. We liked that even though we booked a room without a view, every room still looks out towards the seafront and we had a peep of the ocean! The location is perfect - it's a short walk to anywhere in the city centre and across the road from the ocean spa. We'd like to stay again next time we visit Napier!

Most rooms have an ocean view due to the curved building, with all rooms facing outwards to the Ocean. Great location to Napier City, shops, restaurants, ocean spa pools and walking/cycling tracks running along the ocean. Ahuriri is only a 5 minute drive away where there are more amazing restaurants and cafes.

Good morning. Yes the convention centre has been completed. The front of the building has now been cleared of any obvious signs of construction, ie scaffolding etc.
As the convention centre extended outwards not upwards our view remains intact.
Warm regards
Kerryann
