Nice cosy motel at a reasonable price
Rooms are oldish but well kept and clean. Staff are very helpful and we were able to borrow their grill for a barbicue. Wifi is great. Rooms are spacious. Only improvement I can think of is maybe a fly swat or spray for the room after the barbecue. Happy to stay here again for next visit.

Lovely home away from home
An awesome stay for our family getaway. Very homely and spacious room for a bigger family. Also the bird avairy was a cool little touch and the kids loved the space outside with a tramp. The rooms having a spa was awesome and very cheap but lovely. Definatly going to stay again and again :)

Never Ever Again
We booked for 5 days . We arrived early hours of the morning after driving from christchurch we were advised that the key would be left outside our room. We entered our room my husband who was so tired just wanted to sleep this was at 2am. The room was horrible all the furniture was from the 70s .We were too scared to shower as the skylight directly above the shower was cracked from one side to the other and covered in cobwebs. The furniture was hard lumpy and just really old. My husband slept on top of the bed on his jacket. I sat up all night waiting for daylight just to get the hell out of there. Never Ever Again. This place should be condemed.

Three strikes - we won't be back
We had a terrible stay, half the fault of management, half not.

1) Very uncomfortable bed. We could feel all the springs and my pillow was a folded duvet in a case.

2) Loud traffic noise. They are right on the highway, not the management fault, but with no a/c (only in room 3 according to the hotel guidebook) we heard traffic all night.

3) Loud guests. A group of drunk people allowed their children to play on the trampoline loudly, well past the pool/playground closing time. My husband was the third guest to complain to them and got yelled at by the drunken father. Not the management fault, but our calls to reception went unanswered and they should have been available to deal with the problem.

Very bad stay. And it was the most expensive on our trip. Our next stop was the Novotel in Wellington, very nice, clean and quiet and $15 less a night.

I just found this site only a short while ago otherwise you would have heard from me by now.We are on the main road - it was New Years Eve and we have no control of road noise. We did not receive amy complaints from these people about customer noise that I can remember .We are a family type motel and have been very successful operators for the past 12 years. There is no way any of our beds had the springs sticking up and there is no way we had a duvet inside a pillow. To me it just seems like sour grapes and I do not fell that this should remain on this site for ever. We are good people who run a good business and this giving us awful publicity. We have a lot of return business so we must be keeping most of our customers happy. Thanks Bob and Diane

Family Friendly Napier Motel
This motel is in a great location on the outskirts of Napier and across the road from the Ahuriri estuary walk and is just a stroll to Westshore Beach, which had a good playground.
Easy parking and friendly staff, our kids loved the old style trampoline and the aviary on the grounds
Our unit had plenty of room with a separate shower and toilet, kitchenette and modern wall mounted TV and also free wifi.
The unit was very old fashioned (very 70s) and a bit tired in some places. But this was not Sky City and we didn’t expect that! The motel was good value for money, quiet and perfect for our needs. Would stay again.

Nice and cozy motel
Fine little motel, well tended and very family friendly. Owners are very nice people. Rooms are a bit old but clean. Nice small pool and trampoline for kids. Located near the beach.

A bit noisy, being situated by the side of a road where a lot of trucks are passing by.

A Short Trip
The room was warm on the cold wet day we arrived. It smelt fresh and pleasing on the eye. The rooms were spotless and the beds cozy. The motel is quiet and very helpful hosts. We enjoyed our stay here and were able to walk to takeaways and the beach or a short drive to some restaurants and with sea view.

great host!!!
As the new owner of Sunset Motel, the host Christina and her husband did their very best to insure our stay in Napier. Their thoughtful mind made our day relaxed and less-worried. Really appreciated that. And also, this motel really deserve the name of "sunset"!

Nice in Napier
Convenient location, friendly service, reasonable price. Manager kindly upgraded us to larger apartment at no extra charge. Dated decor but very clean with spacious bathroom, comfortable beds, plenty of extra bedding, adequate kitchen facilities. Free laundry, spa and swimming pool. Pleasant outdoor area, which would be good for family barbecues and kids' activities. The only downside is the very limited parking onsite.
