Sleep Quality
One of Hawke's Bay's newest luxury air-conditioned motels - the place where those in the know choose to spend their time while staying in Napier. What makes the Ballina Motel special is our small size allows us to focus on those important little details and provide personal service to ensure that your stay is both a relaxing and memorable experience. All our spacious rooms are air-conditioned (to provide some relief from Hawke's Bay's high summer temperatures and warmth in winter), and furnished to a high standard of quality which is reflected in our 4 Stars rating. Our quiet residential location (there are no crashing waves, barking seals, trucks or trains thundering through the night to keep you awake) ensures that you arise fully refreshed to take on the new day's challenges and fully enjoy the great Hawke's Bay lifestyle and glorious weather. Centrally located in Taradale midway between Napier and Hastings city centers - ensures that you are close to all of Hawke's Bay's diverse range of activities and attractions. Within easy walking distance of the cafe's restaurants, bars, and the main shopping center of Taradale. If you are looking for more than a standard motel, but not the excessive expense of a hotel then you are in the right place. Our accommodation makes the ideal base for visitors to Hawke's Bay.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I stayed here for almost a week on a working holiday and found this motel to be a pleasant stay. Upon arrival the staff were warm and inviting and after quickly getting the key to the room it was time to turn the air conditioner on and cool down, and cool down you did as it was almost too cold! It did stop working halfway through the stay but was quickly rectified. There was a nice balcony for relaxation purposes and the bathroom and spacious but the staff don't collect your dirty towels and you need to go to reception to get new one's (that's poor), the rubbish bin was not collected at all throughout the stay another basic element that should not be happening. The breakfast was once again sufficient and delivered to you at the time you asked for. Parking can be a little tight if you drive a big car as the driveway is relatively narrow. All in all a decent time but some minor customer service points that need to sorted out quickly in order for a super stay.

A large group of us stayed here as we were involved in a show at the arena close by. Great location for our needs and handy having the pub right next door. However, one of the bookings made on the website was not accounted for despite email confirmation being sent. we were suddenly short accommodation for 4 pple and Napier was completely booked out due to a large travelling act. There was very little in the way of an apology or attempt to resolve our problem from the motel owners. We managed to shuffle our group around and came up with as solution to squeeze the last 4 people in, meaning people were sleeping in others old sheets and some just on a mattress on the floor. We were relieved until it came to time to pay, this was the motels chance to make it up to the group who were all inconvenienced as a result of their website failure, but no, very little was offered in way of any discount, in fact the motel would've actually made a profit. Very disgraceful that they really did not take ownership of their website error

Fine place to stay in the Taradale area. Spacious room with kitchenette and balcony..Very clean and well kept. No amenities, but just a short walk to town. Has an open shower area that is rather slippery - could use something to hold on to. Would recommend.

Appreciate our stay wasn’t at the ritz but despite realistic expectations we left disappointed. Quite a few light bulbs and the hob not working, WiFi internet that was out for a day/night and a generally very tired room. It is expensive for what it is given the 3 bedroom airbnb house we are now in (with garden, pool, trampoline) is pretty much the same per night price.

Average at best, as per other reviews no hot water at night. Below par service, they wouldnt answer the phone number left to call the desk when unattended or return your call the next day. Location and room fine. Would try and find sonewhere else next time.

We stayed for one night. The room was clean and a decent size for a family. The shower was small but good. The check in was easy and staff friendly.

But the air conditioner was not working. We asked for help and they tried a different remote but that was not the problem. It simply wouldn’t cool (just blew room temperature air). The window only opened 3 inches and was useless. We all slept terribly and were tired for the next day of driving. They tell us they plan to replace A/C units - wouldn’t recommend until they were fixed unless you like sleeping in a sauna.

I was itchy and both myself and my husband are now covered in small red bites. Could be bedbugs or flea bites. Could also be from our current accommodation in QLD - but I noticed the itching before we arrived here. Who knows but putting this here in case other travellers experience similar. We don’t have pets.

Unfortunately there was no hot water available and the motel unit was not particularly clean. Poor customer service with no communication, concession or apology for lack of hot water. Poor quality beds. Would not recommend.

Stayed here with my wife and child. Good size unit. Could do with a freshen up. Spa bath didn't work which dissapointed my 6 year old. Given a welcome pack with sanitizer etc which was nice. Welcoming staff. Would stay again.

Friendly check in. We booked an executive suite and was given a room on the first floor. It had a balcony and was a good size room with a King bed. Very clean. The tired bathroom lets the whole experience down. The shower has no enclosure so the bathroom floor gets very wet after each use. The bathroom fan was extremely noisey and of no use.
