The view from the room was spectacular. The beach was across the street and the walking path went for miles.
The room itself was nicely appointed and very comfortable. Our host was very responsive and helpful. She even made a dinner reservation for us.
The location of the Dome made it possible to walk to
most everything we wanted to do/see.
The lounge area and laundry were also big bonuses.
Good value for the cost and we would stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Dome. We stayed in Pacific View 2, a one bedroom apartment with which we had set up with two extremely comfortable king single beds as we were travelling as friends. The suite has a wraparound balcony with panoramic views across Marine Parade to the ocean as well as access to a furnished rooftop deck. The kitchen was well equiped (although we really only used it for morning coffee and tea on this occasion, the coffee provided for the plunger was by local roaster Hawthorne - a great touch). The location on Marine Parade is great and within convenient walking distance to Napier's restaurants and shops, as well as nice long walks or bike rides along the waterfront (and beyond). The first night we parked on the street, which is free from 6pm to 8am. The second night we contacted management to book a carpark located down the road for $20 as we knew we'd be coming and going in the car and thought it would be easier than street parking which is metered and has a 2 hour limit from 8am to 6pm. All in all, highly recommended.

An art deco building right on the seafront in Napier and 300m from town centre.
No on site parking but they have some reserved spaces 400m away on Hastings St for $20 per day.
It is possible to pull up for a few minutes outside the Hotel to unload luggage.
This is not really a hotel just high end apartments with no bar or restaurant on site and no staff. Despite this the check in arrangements done by email worked fine.
We were in Pacific Suite 1 with fantastic sea views. Decent size room with good bathroom .
Very comfortable bed with good quality linen. Spotlessly clean.
We did not have some of the issues other reviewers encountered.
If you are self sufficient this is a well located place to stay

I recently stayed at The Dome Boutique Apartments, and unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by a serious breach of privacy and security. One evening, another guest entered my room using their key, mistakenly believing it was their own.
When I raised this concern with the hotel, their response was both dismissive and disappointing. They initially blamed me for leaving the door unsecured without conducting a proper investigation. Despite their assurance that no other guests or apartments could access my room, video evidence (which I provided) clearly showed otherwise. The neighboring apartment (#2) was keyed identically, allowing the other guest to enter my room without issue.
This incident highlights a concerning disregard for a fundamental aspect of hospitality: ensuring the safety and privacy of guests. The hotel's failure to acknowledge or properly address this breach, coupled with their lack of accountability, is deeply troubling.
If privacy and security are important to you, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The dismissive handling of my concern, despite clear evidence, has compelled me to leave this review.

The Dome is in a great location and is a very nice example of a boutique hotel that lives up to its promise. Our Pacific View room was big and had a large en-suite and small kitchenette. It was well appointed, clean and excellent value. The off site parking is a bit of a walk but loading and unloading can be done from the adjacent loading zone. The remote check in, entry and check out works fine (we never meet any staff during our 2 night stay) and Cory the manager was always helpful and responsive by text and email.

The whole team was incredibly nice! From booking to checkout.
The apartment was very clean, top equipped, top location!
The beds were super comfortable, towels were fluffy, in the kitchen there was milk, tea and coffee - everything worked fine.

The Dome promised but didn't deliver. Service poor, and we at no time spoke to or saw any members of staff. Communication by email only. On check out, we were requested to clean room and leave it as we found it with any dishes, etc washed and dried and bed made.

Unique, very central to shops and restaurants, clean - loved the dome dining room. Plenty of space for a family of 5/6. Reserved Car park about 500m from the unit, but unloaded from the loading bay then got my partner to walk back. Lovely views. Quiet. Underfloor heating in en-suite, Would definitely stay here again. If staying for one night only I would use car parks on street and pay hourly parking rate as the car park was not in a building, and parking was free after 6pm.

The location is great with restaurants in very close proximity to the ‘hotel’ .Although we were advised that The Dome is not a hotel. Our room was extremely large and well appointed, with all of the essentials included in the tariff .
The continental breakfast,delivered to the room,was very tasty.Which Included muesli,fresh banana,orange juice,croissant etc.

For some constructive criticism. One negative was not having a blind or curtain over the hallway window. All other curtains were of a blackout type, however the uncovered window in the hallway meant a very early morning wake up call. One which we did not want or expect.
Also, the shower desperately needs re-grouting of the wall tiles.
Overall a pleasant stay and we would stay at The Dome again in the future.
