Detailed Reviews
We have stayed here 6 times this year. What does that tell you? The place is clean, the owners and staff are very helpful and polite. Ample parking underneath, cool ice machine. Rooms are clean, very roomy with an awesome bathroom. Can be a bit noisy in some rooms from the nightlife. However they do warn you at time of booking in. But if you are part of the nightlife, who cares. Right in the heart of the city.
Will always stay there next year too! Come on the the Chiefs 2014!

Large rooms with not much in them! Very clean and tidy, helpful staff. My shower was broken and sprayed me hard in face and on floor. Quite hard to wash! Think it had been like that for a while. No soap in shower dispenser. TV reception poor.
So maintenance not great. OK for a night if you get a good rate.

We, a group of six booked a two bedroom apartment and a studio apartment. We found the apartment had very well equipped kitchen and very clean. Both bedrooms had queen beds and the linen was very clean and sheets crisp. The hotel is very central to the restuarant area and has undercover parking. Highly recommended.

Our suite was supposed to be "luxury" but was nothing of the sort. I squashed a cockroach in the hall, there were ants in the glasses, and cigarette butts in the lift. The bedrooms had no windows, the lounge windows didn't open, the bathroom smelt mouldy, and the toilet was filthy. The view was of rusty old iron. In one of the bedrooms the light seemed to be a dim 20 watts. The curtain was only partly attached to the rail. The appliances were faulty and there were no Sky channels as advertised in the brochures. I saw staff cleaning the floors with bath towels. The couch had holes in it. Street kids were taking drugs outside the front door. Need I go on? Avoid it like the plague.

I wanted to write this review as I had read other reviews before staying there for a full week during the rowing world championships. The place was very clean and the service attentive and friendly. My room didn't have a window but when I stayed at the Ibis in Hamilton they gave me a room with a view over a car park and Victoria Street is not the place to stay if you are after a view. It is in the midst of shops, restaurants and bars which was good and not at all noisy. I had a good stay at this place which is not fancy but very comfortable. The nearby Chef's Kitchen Indian restaurant was really lovely, again not fancy but very welcoming and terrific food.

Our flight had been delayed and we were late in arriving. The weather was not the best. We finally found the suites and the manager came out to direct us to the car park (free, but difficult to find). Whilst in the park the manager arrived with the trolley to help us get in. We had booked on line for two nights. The suite was very large, overlooking the main street.the amenities were more than adequate. Bed was comfortable, managers could not have been more helpful. We decided to stay an extra night. No problem. I would highly recommend this place to stay. My only query, why not advertised in the AA book?

Booked online. Great price, fantastic service, well appointed. If you want a great room at reasonable rates close to the centre of town you will not do better than this. Friendly hosts and nothing was a problem (not that there were any). Thankyou

I booked this hotel due to wanting to walk around the bars and not have to catch cabs, and found it close enough to all the bars, yet far away enough for there to be no noise heard from the clubs. I arrived about 8.30pm on a Saturday evening yet found a free secure parking space under the building. The room was spacious with modern, comfy decor.
The managers were very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to help. Even though my room didn't have a view, it didn't worry me as I got it at a reasonable rate and left early in the morning. I did find the doves a bit noisy though so if you intend to sleep in - pack some earplugs. I really liked the uniqueness of the artwork too. The building was secure and there is a strict rule to have no parties on site and the managers live on site to be oncall if needed.

To be fair to this establishment I never got to stay here. My complaint is about a request upon reservation. Made my booking through Late Rooms.com. I requested an early check in as we had a wedding to attend early afternoon. A fairly reasonable request I would have thought and one which most hotels would be happy to provide. However it was refused as they said they were quite busy that weekend and suggested that I either CANCEL or stay the night before as well. What business today suggests someone CANCEL? Unbelievable ,as to me it was a simple request as the room that was allocated to us could have been first on the housekeeping list the day of our arrival and be ready for us by 12 as requested. Not rocket science, as I told them ,and if they wanted the business it was something they could do easily. (I would have paid a little more for this but it wasnt offered) Whilst I realise I received a good room rate why offer 'special requests', that really arent that 'special' when you are going to refuse for really not a good valid reason!! I understand that they will undoubtedly rent the room out to another, and thereby losing my business is probably no big deal to a large hotel chain, however customer service should be paramount in this business and a negative feedback can have longreaching effects. It is probably a very pleasant place to stay, given the feedback I have read, but I won't ever know this as I have cancelled AS ADVISED BY THE HOTEL! (I wonder if their CEO knows they suggest this to people) If you book here, dont expect any special requests to be honoured. My advise is book somewhere else more accommodating.

The staff were very helpful, my bags were not only stored for the day but taken up to my room waiting for me when I checked in. I can't remember when this happened last even at high end hotels. The rooms are fairly plain but have everything you need. The queen studio has a microwave but limited cooking utentsils enough to do breakfast though. There is free wi-fi although it is not hugely fast. Overall great location, handy to everything, plain but pleasant and excellent service.
