Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another work stay, can't complain about the room, clean, tidy, spacious, good bed, free wifi, shower & spa bath. Close to town and the speights ale house is about 100mtr from reception.
Why I couldn't rate higher was that the reception lady whom was possibly Chinese or Japanese was as cold as a stone, didn't look up once, made me sign in and asked me if I wanted milk. I personally think as the reception is your you first point of contact, a better effort is required. This is not the first time I've stayed here and had a cold reception. Oh well they could do better, as far as that the rooms they are really good.

This hotel is a self rated 4 stars, which to me as an avid and experienced traveller gives you an idea of what you're going to get. (To put these ratings in perspective, the Ibis down the road is rated the same and the room pictures look immaculate!). My advice for Anglesea is bump this rating down a bit - it might allow for lower expectations. The facilities and experience was adequate, not exceptional.

The bedroom was great for weary travellers to get a good nights sleep. A comfy big bed met the expectations I went in with. Other facilities were adequate enough - no great complaints besides some small repairs needed. While some parts of the various rooms look fairly new, others look old and tired.

The hotel most of the time is rowdy, busy and not particularly peaceful. (It reminded of me staying in a caravan park as a kid where families were socialising and children playing together which is great is that's what you're looking for). With the rooms providing an abundance of sound systems and television sets, better soundproofing needs to be in place.

The location was good enough in terms of being walking distance to town (approx. 10 mins), but the actual area didn't give me the confidence to walk through there alone at night time.

I would only recommend this hotel for a short stay - you may get some good rest if dropping by for the night. Just bring your earplugs in case.

After reading mixed reviews we were hesitant about staying, but found the room very clean and attending staff extremely helpful. This place was in a handy location and would make a ideal place to base yourself and sightsee around the area. It has a kitchenette and a supermarket across the road.

also emergency accomodation. Lots of kids running around til well after midnight while parents partying, drinking, smoking and loud music on balconys and carpark areas. noisy, cockroaches, rubbish lying around grounds and rooms poorly maintained, one of the bedrooms had no curtains, stained carpet.
terrible experience. room backed onto laundry, we could hear all conversations and see everything thru gap in door. Not very comforting as this means our privacy was as compromised as theirs.
All in all... never again

Agree with recent reviews. This place isn't a nice environment to be in. Travelling with a workmate and her room smelt heavily of cannabis on entry. My room was OK, but It would seem that this hotel was now being used for a lot of emergency housing bookings and just wasn't a good fit for business travellers

Booked a 3 room unit for one night. Very spacious with comfortable beds. Two bathrooms, both with barely luke warm water. One bedroom with no curtains. Towel rails hanging loose. The whole place shows deterioration with washing hanging on balconies, boom boxes going on balconies with children tearing around the car parks on scooters and bikes until well after 9pm. Room was clean but smelt strongly of cleaning fluid. Have used this motel for many years but unfortunately it seems more like a boarding house now.

WHATEVER YOU DO NEVER STAY HERE.

When we got to our room there were 8-10 poorly clothed children playing outside. It was plainly obvious that they were not on vacation but that the local council had housed them at the Anglesea Motel & Conference Centre. They were running around some very beaten up old cars parked outside our room. A group of teenage mothers were smoking outside of another room. The males in the vicinity did not inspire an atmosphere of happy holidays.

Worse still our room had an adjoining door with the room one of these families were staying in. I came to the conclusion that it would not be safe to leave anything in our room, that our car was not safe outside and that personally my wife and I were not safe. We left within the hour.

IT IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE THAT THIS PLACE IS TRADING AS A MOTEL. IT IS NOT A MOTEL.

I was staying in this motel with my family last month ago. The Chinese Manager is the biggest idiot ever. Everytime her rates are increasing for rooms and the most hopeless customer service she has. she hardly knows how to speak in english and she is given the responsibility to manage a motel.

Like a few other later reviews here off late I have never had a hideous nights stay in my life. My son and I stayed here mid June. I knew we were in for a bad night when we got back from dinner. I was approached by a couple of drunk teens outside side our room and told I had a wrong colour t-shirt. At 10.30 at night the party started in the adjoining rooms. Slamming doors, breaking beer bottles, abusive language, unruley children, car boom boom music. This carried on til after 3.00am. I did not report this to management as these people partying were the type to trash my car. We generally felt unsafe. I'm not into negative reviews but feel this is justified.

My partner and I booked in here for a quite weekend away. We were rudely woken by gang members at 2am parting and swearing very loud right outside our room. Many calls were made to reception in regards to this and nothing was done.. Absolutely ridiculous!
