Firstly, I should note that we stayed in a double en-suite room during the Hamilton 400. I think the standard price is around $100 per night, but I paid $175 per night being the only place with a vacancy (booked 3 months ahead of time).
Service was terrible. The only words spoken were "$575", other than that, just a few grunts and sighs.
Cleanliness obviously not a high priority. As long as it looks good at a glance, then it seems to do. The pillow cases had unidentifiable stains (one could have been chocolate or blood). The towels had small stains and smelt real strong of cigarette smoke. As for the bedspreads, I highly doubt these get washed on a regular basis. Double bed that was like a trampoline.
En-suite was kinda new but very small. Couldn't swing a cat around in there, thats for sure. The shower was affected by anyone running water, so it went from ice cold to very hot constantly. I didn't experience a nice temperature at all.
It had what they called a kitchenette, but all it consisted of was a kettle, cups, bowls, tea and coffee. No basin. Fridge was in the wardrobe.
Noisy. Was kept awake by hearing all the conversations in the reception area, or woken up by all the slamming doors (all the doors need to be planed).
I would not recommend this place at all. Even at the lower price of about $100, for an extra $20 - $30, someone could stay in a really nice clean hotel with all the mod cons, and great service.

Had lunch in the new revamped Commercial Hotel with a group last week. They have done a great job of the décor but need to bring their food and service standards up to scratch. The waitresses need to look as though they care, the one taking our orders took most of our orders went away and didn't come back consequently most of us had our food and had finished before the rest got theirs. The chicken burger I had was definitely not the best Ive had. For the prices they charge I expect better quality.

Clean room. Clean, but VERY small bathroom.Door into shower bangs onto basin when opened.Step up to shower is high with no handle/rail to hold on to, extra dangerous when floor is wet. No where to hang wet towels. Not room enough to stand at basin or dress / undress/ dry off after shower.Micro oven at floor level in a cupboard, was not clean. Fridge in clothes cupboard. Only one chair, one suitcase rack and one bedsidetable.No safe for valuables. Room is too small for two adults, seems like single room with added extra bed. Very noisy all night, with lots of loud voices and slamming of doors.There is no reception as it is under renovation as most of the hotel is. Telephones are not in working order (beg. of Feb. 2012).No way of communicating with our home country.Guestbook says settle on night before, if leaving early in morning. We had to pay on arrival for the four nights we had booked for. Our booking was done aprox. five months prior to our stay.The cleaning-lady was very nice and did her best to help us. In-house Bar and lounge on hotel brochure are non excistant. To top it all: We found, by accident, that the key to our room also fits lock on the next room beside ours! We wondered how many keys fitted "our" door!

On our last year's trip to Hamilton, we booked the basic category room here and we were shocked to see the terrible situation of this motel. By far the worst I have stayed in. I guess now either the management has changed or it has been shut down but just wanted to share my past experience.

Couldnt ask for much better for $85.00 . Location is really good .Toilet wasnt that clean. The guy at reception rather the manager was very helpful- very good service from him.
