Clean room. Comfy bed. Modern bathroom. Kitchenette fully equipped.
Pool was dirty. Paper thin wall and ceiling. I could hear the person in the upstairs room walking around and the rooms next door - you can hear their tv & conversations.
A lot of road workers stayed there also so I would probably not recommend it for a family as it seems like a motel mainly for people who are away for work.

While the outside of the building looked tired the unit we stayed in was really good. It was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The unit also contained a 42inch tv and free WiFi. We will definitely be staying here again.

best decision we made for our recent stay in NZ was to spend a week here at Fountain City motel. The owner/operator was extremely helpful and lovely. The room was perfect for a family stay, adequate kitchen and comfy beds, nice big bathroom and very clean . The indoor pool and hot spa were fabulous. We loved it here and would make it the only place we will stay when we next return to Hamilton.

I enjoyed my stay at this property while in Hamilton. Clean, comfortable, easy and convenient from the main road, Fountain City is one of many motels lining the road that leads to the city centre. It was nice to be able to park across from the door and just roll my suitcase to the entryway. Though small (I had to carry my suitcase into the room and kept it on one side of my bed since there was no other place to put it), the studio room is nicely furnished with a queen bed, table and two chairs, and leather chair with ottoman. The kitchen area has a microwave, small fridge, sink, coffee press, hot water maker, utensils, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The dated bathroom is a little small, but it worked fine for me. The water pressure was great, however, the shower head is a little low (I'm 5'4"). The bed is a little soft, but comfortable with a nice heating element in it. The heater is a bit noisy especially when on high, but it didn't keep me from sleeping soundly. I barely noticed any road noise.

In-room WIFI (free through Zenbu vouchers) is available up to 200 mb. There is also an indoor heated pool, spa and sauna, which I didn't experience. You can also order in-room breakfast up to 9 p.m. the night before and specify the delivery time; just ask for the form at the reception desk.

You can either walk or drive just down Ulster Street for fast food, grocery store or the gourmet Nosh Food Market. Within driving distance is the city centre with many restaurants, theatres, shops and services. Fountain City Motor Inn also provides a list of restaurants for delivery or takeout that can be added to the hotel bill or not.

I actually decided to stay in Hamilton since it was the midway point between Waitomo Caves and the Hobbiton Movie Set, plus I'd wanted to see Hamilton Gardens. Didn't get to see the gardens, but staying in Hamilton was a good decision. You can also pick up a map of Hamilton and they'll help you with any directions.

We spent one night here in a 2 bedroom unit. The furniture is dated but it really doesn't matter as the unit was huge and very comfortable. There is a heated swimming pool, spa and from our unit we could access the huge green space adjacent to the motel. It was ideal for our family with young kids. We were also within walking distance of a supermarket.

What a fantastic place to stay. Super friendly and helpful people, immaculate rooms, comfortable bed, big TV, great ammenities, security cameras in parking area, what more could you want? How about the thoughtfulness of having the room toasty warm and the lights on in the room when I arrived on a cold rainy night. Your are crazy if you go anywhere else. Now that I've written this, I'll probably have to book months in advance - damn!

Love Fountain City Motor Inn. The room was very clean and had a fully loaded kitchen (right down to a bottle of milk instead of those annoying sachets). Massive TV with lots of channels and good reception. Modern heatpump kept us warm on a -2 degree night! The downside is the shower head is too low and many reviews seem to mention this, but the water pressure from the shower is like a fire hose hitting you - Love it (although might not be good for kiddies).

Great warm pool and spa.

Pros: Friendly staff, amazing value for money, easy to park, secure, warm, Large rooms
Cons: Upstairs has no lift, musty smelling hallways, not sound proof (drunk people turning up at next unit at 4am on sunday morning woke us).

A group of three couples stayed here over Easter as we were doing day cycles around Hamilton. This motel is spacious and really comfortable. The huge tv screens a bonus (42 inch). It was great to be able to soak in the pool and spa after too.
