The key to a stay in a motel is obviously the room but sometimes also the proprietors go out of their way to assist and this makes for a pleasant stay.

I had two nights at this motel. Upon hearing that I intended to drive my car to the railway station for the Northern Explorer and thus leave the car there unattended all day, the owner offered to drive me to the station. This he did the next day.

The motel itself was more than adequate. The very large room and bathroom was most appreciated as I sorted out all my traveling gear.

Would recommend the Lake Point motel.

We stayed here on a visit to Hamilton for a function in Frankton only a few minutes from here. Without a booking, we tried our luck and got a very spacious upstairs room for only $110 for the night.
Massive bathroom with separate shower plus SPABATH! Very happy!
Small kitchenette but well fitted out with everything you need (should you wish to cook). Very large studio room with large bed and TV.
Bed was ok but not pocket spring like I'm used to but fine for one night.
Very nice motelier. Plenty of parking for larger vehicles.

We contacted Lake Point Hotel to use for family and friends travelling to Hamilton for our wedding in late October 2014. The hosts were helpful and kind, reserving a number of rooms for our guests to call and book so we could all stay together. In the lead up to the wedding, staff were great! Rooms were clean, tidy, happy with everything. Def stay again.

We must have had a different room to other reviewers. Our room was very big and spacious and very comfortable. Huge bath room. Daily serviced and clean. Kitchenette totally adequate- we cooked full meals for 3 of our 4 nights with no problems. Huge bathroom. Easy parking and good wifi. Convenient to supermarkets and a short drive to major attractions. Very friendly, helpful host. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a concert and absolutely cannot fault as it served the purpose of just needing somewhere to get ready & sleep PLUS the room had an epic spa bath & the room size is incredibly generous. Everything I needed was provided.
Would totally stay again (room 11)

Terrible motel. Room was very dirty and run down, when we checked in lights in room did not work. Room door looked like lock or latch had been smashed in then shoddily replaced. We got a refund and left to find other accommodation

Stayed for 2 nights in January as a central point to explore the area. The nightly tariff of NZ$125 was a bargain. As previously stated, the room and bathroom were huge, and there is also a kitchenette. I believe the building was concrete block construction and we heard no noise from adjoining suites. My wife is an extremely light sleeper and we had expressed concerns, prior to all our accommodation bookings, about noise. The Motel is situated along side a thoroughfare (two lane) that runs along Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton Lake) and there is some traffic but we slept wonderfully (we had the office between us and the road). The lake is in a park setting and you are only across the road from a lovely evening walk.

If you have smaller children, be aware that there is no swimming pool on premises but the Motel is conveniently located close to many amenities. The staff personalized our stay, were very helpful, and the room kept clean and tidy. The furnishings are dated but not in tatters. The king bed was comfortable if plain. Internet is available in the rooms although we did not use it and there are internet cafe's nearby. This Motel is used by business travellers, also has long term residents, and is very laid back and tranquil.

The room was stuffy and dank which is probably why there was an industrial air freshener unit running. It wasn't particularly clean. Usually NZ motels have a sparkling kitchen but this was grubby and the washing up gear dubious. We decided we would leave after 20 mins and told the owner why. He still debited our credit card (we had booked on line).

Friendly couple welcomed me for a stay for a month and advised me for sightseeing tips during my stay.
Room was fine, spacious and well taken care after. Every day cleaning, clean towels, coffee/tea refill etc.; newspaper on the doorstep.
Good internet access and SKY TV.
Perfect location to make walk around the lake (just round the corner), 10 minute walk to the city centre with bars/restaurants.
Also a god starting point for trips all over the North Island as Hamilton is conveniently located.
Sometimes some minor "noise" from cars if windows are open.
Great value for the money!

If you want a wonderful, friendly couple looking after you .. if you want a spa bath, large, clean, spacious rooms, SKY TV, Newspaper every morning ... if you want to be only a 10 minute walk from heaps of shops, movie theatres, restaurants, or in the other direction, a beautiful lake with lovely gardens to walk around - then Lakepoint Motel is the perfect place for you. I stay here every month (and have been for the last 3 1/2 years) and just want to keep coming back. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended accommodation.
