Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room 1 tainted with stale nicotine, bathroom door needs adjusting and dining chairs need a recover or complete update. Was able to move to Room 2 the next night which was much better. Kids enjoyed the pool very much and it was handy to have a full kitchen in our room. The grounds/gardens were well kept. Take care on bathroom/kitchen tiles as slippery when wet, one of our girls slid and fell. If the rooms were updated it would be lovely as they are a good size.

Rooms were clean and tidy. Spacious. Owner phoned while we were out at dinner & growled for not parking properly. (Vehicle was in the parallel park with white lines, but too close to one end??) TV didn't work, was missing the Sky cord from Decoder to the TV, Remote had no batteries. No Milk. Got accused of stealing said missing cord by owners banging on our door later in the evening. First it was the husband then when he left the wife came over. Would never stay again & would not recommend. Terrible service, not friendly & not inviting at all. Tidy and clean however so will give them that.

All rooms seem to be chalet type all at ground level. Swimming pool right at the front. Carpets could do with deep cleaning or replacing. Room had a full stove which is handy. Great shower pressure. Very little road noise although got woken by noisy neighbours arriving bàck just after 3am. A few blocks from the CBD.

The room and facilities seemed a bit drab and could do with some updating in places. Not a great amount of bathroom and toilet space. However, it was very clean and the service was good. Laundry facilities and washing line on site. A small pool and lounging area that looked very nice but we didn’t use it. Fairly good location. A fair walk down Gladstone road before you reach the main town area and harbour but there are some shops on the way, takeaways and grocery stores.

Our group stayed two nights at Teal Motor Lodge without complaints. While the rooms weren't going to set the world on fire, they were more than adequate, roomy, clean and comfortable. Warm welcome and very obliging hosts. Handy location.

Good location but the 2 bedroom unit we stayed in needed some updating especially the bathroom, basic but with toiletries provided. Clean and comfortable and very quiet at the back of the complex away from the road noise. Friendly helpful manager.

Best bit, the host was apologetic. Toilet door would not close. Overnight contractors partying, loudly. Engine noise at 3 a.m followed by more engines at 6 as they left for work. Ceramic mug actually leaked which even now I cannot believe I witnessed. Sink taps seemed to turn off but after a few minutes sprang the biggest flow (not drip) ever. Second nights breakfast didn't turn up and although apologies offered we needed to get away so paid our bill and left. Oh, I forgot, the staff removed our cutlery after the first breakfast so had to go hunting for it in the evening when we decided to eat in. Upside, it was was well laid out and comfortable despite lousy TV (no Sky so ignore the billboards that say otherwise). Wifi, surprisingly worked well.

Reasonable motel for the money, room size and in-room amenities with iron, microwave and stove are good. Rooms tidy but dated and desperately in need of air con for hot summers in Gisborne. Very helpful owner. Room at back of motel are quiet with no road noise. TV is not great. Very few channels and often faulty on visits...annoying! Tonight TV with no Sky channels??? Worked last night but not tonight.

Booked online as we neared Gisborne. So easy and nice to know we had a bed for the night. We didn't want fancy - just affordable and clean but we were both impressed with our studio kitchenette. Smartly refurbished with lovely tiled shower, toiletries heated towel rail, large screen tv, coffee plunger, speedy quiet heater and crisp fresh sheets - all beautifully clean. Friendly welcome to boot! Would definitely stay again.
