Perfecte plek om te verblijven. Zeer gastvrije mensen! Prijs kwaliteit is goed. Voelde als thuis komen. Eigen gemaakt ontbijt overtreft alle verwachtingen. Je slaapt hier bij mensen in huis, maar dat maakt het juist leuk en prettig.

Consistently good, and perfect after a days work in Gisborne city
Barry and Roz are excellent hosts who gave out of their way to make .
you feel welcome. If you are lucky enough to also be cooked for, it is a treat to sit
down at the table and enjoy a wonderful dinner.
Breakfast is a challenge - as so filling!! and great to start the day with.

Hard to imagine a better B&B experience really. Barry was someone I could have a real conversation with, and useful information was exchanged! He produced a great breakfast too, catering to my vegetarian needs. My room was excellent, with a more comfortable bed than my own, which is saying something. An amazing old house, and everything very clean. Definitely the place to stay in Gisborne.

Barry and Ros are the epitome of excellent hosts. My room was spotless and comfortable, the food was absolutely superb, and Barry happily goes above and beyond to ensure guests have a great experience of Gisborne.
The excellent service started with a free airport transfer service - very handy for me as I hadn't planned to hire a car. Barry then drove me about for more than an hour, familiarizing me with the town and surrounding beaches.
Unfortunately my tour planned for day 2 was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances, but Barry stepped in an saved the day. He tailored a day tour just for me, and I leave Gisborne feeling like I got a great taste of the many treats the region has to offer.
So....if a comfy bed, great advice, and spectacular food are what you are looking for when you travel....look no further.
Thanks Barry and Ros (and cats iti and tiki)

Hosts Barry and Ros gave me a very warm welcome i.e.loaned spare slippers and shared their big lounge TV so I could watch the All Blacks annihilate Argentina with them. Breakfasts were amazing and the charm and history of the house helped make this a happy restful stay. Highly recommend the lodge to any prospective guest.

Best place to stay in Gisborne, amazing value for money. Lovely old house loaded with character. Barry and Roz extremely hospitable hosts, very welcoming.
Barry cooks huge and extremely tasty breakfasts, you don't need to have lunch they are that filling. Also great location, near CBD but also close to the beachs and riverside. Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed one night but other members of my family have stayed for longer and when we arrived several were already there this time as well. We were originally booked into the cabin but eventually stayed in the house and having all the family together in one area was lovely. The owner Barry was very hospitable and went the extra mile in not just accommodating us but even putting on a birthday dinner for another family member. Beautiful house and surroundings. As a parting gift we were even given a banana tree root which I have high hopes of growing!

My grandmother, Mother and myself stayed for two nights and we couldn't of wished for better. Barry ensured we felt welcome and at home as well as taking the time to talk and recommend some must see beautiful sights. The food was top class and very professional. I would stay here for the food alone! Good central location and plenty of facilities provided including heating on some chilly nights.

Would highly recommend this place to stay to anyone visiting Gisborne! Great hospitality from hosts Barry and Ros, complimented with an absolutely incredible breaky for your desirable time in the morning. Room was very cosy and warm, with good bathroom facilities. To anyone visiting the area, be sure to stop at Surf City Lodge for an exceptional stay.

Barry immediately made us so welcome on our arrival. Whilst we were a little disappointed not to be staying in the main house (which is a great 1920s building) the garden room was very clean and comfortable and a complimentary beer, as well as tea and coffee was a lovely touch. The breakfast was nothing short of superb. My partner and I would definitely stay again.
