Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First if you book through Hotels.com or something similar/ ring or email Barry and Ross and let them know your estimated time of arrival! Next Gisborne is a great place and the best place to stay is here! We were upgraded! I did not realise how good the little summer house was!our hosts offered a digital tv and movies but an ensuite along with a wee kitchen! BEST is the breakfast ! Michelin Standard!

Have stayed here multiple times and will do every time i come back to gisborne. Barry and Roz make it a pleasure to come here. It's cheaper than any motel and it's just like a home away from home. The breakfast is better than any breakfast I've had staying away. Barry cooks a restaurant style big kiwi breakfast that always hits the spot. Thanks Barry and Roz it's always a pleasure!

This is such a great place to stay, Barry and Ros are such wonderful hosts, make you feel welcome and their company is heartfelt. Had a great time some years ago and aiming to go back in December. His Cooking is better than master chef...his breakfast are awesome...I've come all the way from Switzerland just to see them and enjoy Barry's breakfast treat...Just fabulous.

We loved staying here. Our fantastic hosts Barry and Ros made us feel right at home and Barry cooked some amazing breakfasts that left us so full we didn't need any lunch. Each day's breakfast is different so make sure you stay more than one day. We stayed in the outside unit while our friends took the rooms upstairs. Very comfortable beds and shower pressure was excellent. All in all no complaints. We would definitely come here again.

Great place to stay, Barry and Ros are fantastic hosts. I stayed in the unit out the back which was extremely comfortable, clean with an en-suite. Also, the breakfasts are outstanding and large! I would strongly recommend staying here if your in Gisborne.

This is a great B&B, handy for the city and in a spacious, historic home. The full cooked breakfast is a highlight and Barry is very welcoming and friendly. The neighbourhood has plenty of mature trees so the views from the windows are lovely.

Plenty of room to spread out and relax in this beautiful old house, and breakfast to rival top hotel offerings... Loved the comfy bed and character house. And the breakfast made to match our exact tastes, from piping hot flat white to sizzling fresh whitebait fritters. The huge Kowhai tree in full bloom viewed from the bedroom window was a special bonus! Great place to stay, handy to everything.

Consistently good, and perfect after a days work in Gisborne city Barry and Roz are excellent hosts who gave out of their way to make . you feel welcome. If you are lucky enough to also be cooked for, it is a treat to sit down at the table and enjoy a wonderful dinner. Breakfast is a challenge - as so filling!! and great to start the day with.

Hard to imagine a better B&B experience really. Barry was someone I could have a real conversation with, and useful information was exchanged! He produced a great breakfast too, catering to my vegetarian needs. My room was excellent, with a more comfortable bed than my own, which is saying something. An amazing old house, and everything very clean. Definitely the place to stay in Gisborne.

Barry and Ros are the epitome of excellent hosts. My room was spotless and comfortable, the food was absolutely superb, and Barry happily goes above and beyond to ensure guests have a great experience of Gisborne. The excellent service started with a free airport transfer service - very handy for me as I hadn't planned to hire a car. Barry then drove me about for more than an hour, familiarizing me with the town and surrounding beaches. Unfortunately my tour planned for day 2 was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances, but Barry stepped in an saved the day. He tailored a day tour just for me, and I leave Gisborne feeling like I got a great taste of the many treats the region has to offer. So....if a comfy bed, great advice, and spectacular food are what you are looking
