Stayed in a compact queen studio, it was clean, tidy and very comfortable. I haven’t slept that well in months!
While small it has everything you need, a mini fridge, microwave, kettle etc. Certainly enough to see you through a few days.
I’d also like to shout out to the shower. While low (is 5 foot 6 or 168cm and I had to bend). It was so much fun to feel like you’re in a sci fi movie.

Was clean, friendly and accomodating. Handy to town , great value for money. We had asked to check in early Of which owners were happy to oblige , so that great for us travelling from 4 hours away , friendly staff too

Really Great Place. Wonderful Hosts. The room was super clean with everything you need. The breakfast was a super bonus. I was lucky enough to have been given a complementary room by Air New Zealand for a cancelled flight.

Disappointed as advice is to book directly and will price match with booking.com. Was advised on phone would not price match and to receive the cheaper price would need to book via booking.com. On arrival was advised as since I rung directly unable to price match and should have booked via Bella Vista website. In the room the book advising facilities had a bit about booking directly and they will price match, clearly this is not correct as turned down twice. The room was over priced at 135.00 per night when compared to motels in Napier and Taupo for same trip. Example Taupo large room with full kitchen facilities and spa bath, cooked buffet breakfast for two 139.00 per night (same as pre covid). Room just big enough for the double bed and only one side table. Microwave and some dishes, cups ect provided however these needed to be washed in the bathroom sink being the same space as the toilet. Not hygienic especially with the current climate and emphasis on hygiene. Would be better motel does the dishes or not provide dishes and microwave cooking facilities.

I booked a room for a stay on Jan 1st back in September and now, one week out from my trip I have been advised that the room is no longer available and despite an emailed confirmation they will not honour my reservation. There is NO way this is a ‘technical fault’ or I would have been advised a lot earlier. I have been offered another hotel at 50% higher rate then my reserved booking. This is a Motel, you have to be able to trust that the room you booked so far in advance will be available. Just deceitful and conniving.

I travel often for work. And would return to this Bella Vista if the current hosts are in place. The host was gracious and welcoming, managing all requests kindly. The room was neat and clean. Great place to stay whilst in Gisborne.

Fantastic location, service, and room. Nice and spacious, exceptional clean, and well priced. Very quiet. Air conditioning in the room was a life saver. Good bed and linen. Good TV with all TV options including Netflix. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good night's sleep

The staff at the Bella Vista Motel are friendly and have great local knowledge of restaurants and activities.
The Motel rooms are on the small side, however they are fully equipped with all the standard amenities and the rooms are clean and tidy.

The very first thing that I noticed when entering the room was how spotless it was....there was no trace of any dust anywhere and was very, very clean. As I travel on business a great deal I am familiar with motel and hotel rooms....very compfortable, great sized TV, spotless bathroom and shower....really spotless and the rooms are quiet also. Good to have such personal hosts with a great smile and real personality. They could not assist more and you are more than a number but are treated as a true guest. Try the French breakfast (Pastries)....they are awesome and truely French (made in France too)....thanks and will be back and beats the stuffiness of the usual hotel.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Bella Vista Motel for three nights in July. From the moment we arrived, our French/Kiwi hosts Helen and Eric made us feel totally at home in their well-appointed, comfortable and convenient motel in Gisborne. We enjoyed our time at the Bella Vista, and we'd happily recommend it to you as well for the following reasons:
COMFORT and CONVENIENCE
This motel is part of the Bella Vista chain operating throughout New Zealand. That means that the rooms are of a very high standard, with comfortable beds, furnishings and appointments. The bathroom and shower set-up especially impressed us. Why don't all motels have the "shower capsule" concept we found at the Bella Vista in Gisborne? Finally, a water-tight shower, with no more wet floors and soggy towels.
As for convenience, the Bella Vista sits on Gladstone Road, with ample car-parking out front. Gisborne's not busy, so you'll find it quiet at night with everything you need just a short walk or drive away.
WONDERFUL WELCOME!
As I said at the start, Helen and Eric made us feel right at home at the Bella Vista from the moment we arrived. Their friendly, easy, open style makes you feel like you're at home rather than staying at a motel. Nothing was too much trouble for Helen and Eric, including the faxing of a difficult document. They both tried over and over to make sure the fax arrived in Australia. It did, by the way. Thanks again Helen and Eric for looking after us in Gisborne!

OOH LA-LA! This is another, and very special, reason to stay at the Bella Vista in Gisborne. Eric, you see, is French and Helen has spent lots of time in France. It's no surprise, therefore, that they serve up the most delicious French breakfasts for not much more than a song. Go on and treat yourself to Croissant, Pain au Chocolat et Pain aux Raisin. Bon appetit!
If you're coming to Gisborne to enjoy the Rhythm and Vines, or you're travelling through town on business, make sure you treat yourself at the Bella Vista. If your experience was like ours, you won't be disappointed!

I’m not sure if it is a dog friendly motel. The owners had dogs themselves so you may want to check with them.
