Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A really good and affordable day and night spent here. Wifi is included, toilets, showers and kitchen more than adequate. It's a small, campground, with a friendly family who welcome you with care. They also run the cafe and store which makes great coffee and where you can pick up another one of those Maketu pies. Although only passing through it is a great stop to sort your riding gear our for Motu trails. Glad we stopped by.

Nice ride from Gisborne to Matawai or from Opotiki through
the Motu and out at Matawai.
Lovely little camp site well maintained.
the bathroom is well looked after and the kitchen communal area is small
but good for the size of camp.
nice little cabins also
cafe and dairy across the road so all in all a must stop for the night
we will be back

Really good and affordable night here. Small camp ground with three 1 bedroom cabins with shared shower, toilet and kitchen. Owners were great and good to deal with. Dinner was hearty. All you need. Off the main road behind shops so no traffic noise.

is a welcome stop conveniently in the middle of the 2 hour drive between Opotiki and Gisborne. A welcoming veranda with tables, chairs and two comfy chairs. A simple café and store. Enjoy a hot pie and coffee and maybe an icecream.

Very basic facilities but excellent value for money.
$15 for a bunk room bed with no one else in the room.
Kitchen with everything you needed to cook a feed and good showers next door.
Camp shop has a range of food for the weary cyclist.

Nice campsite along the road (road is very scenic!) between Opotiki and Gisborne. It was a little bit worn down but it has everything you need! We stayed one night with out self-contained campervan paid 30 dollars for two people. Would recommend!

This little spot is perfectly positioned to break a long trip if coming from the East Cape or for a quiet night and a hot shower after the Motu trail. Good value with hot showers and Wifi. No complaints about the facilities, the owners have perfectly described facilities. We enjoyed our night here and even had a visit from the Weka.

The hosts are wonderful. The home-cooked meals are superb. Well equipped kitchen. Everything you need is there. The location is stunning and the town is nice. If you are after cheap accommodation, this is great value for money.
Basic shopping is availablw at the gallery and cafe across the road. For a good coffee, both places can cater for that as well.
