Wish I'd read the reviews prior to booking as I 100% would not have booked. On arrival we were greeted by another resident smoking at the front doors in their pyjamas. It was 2pm in the arvo! Straight away I knew this experience was not going to go well.

The reception woman was not helpful and did not make any effort to make you feel welcome at their establishment. Management needs a bomb up their ar** to sort their staff out. Basic customer service skills!!!

The first noticeable thing entering apartment is the extensive damage to the walls and furniture. There was an issue with the AC - it was non-existent. Maintenance brought in a portable AC and 2 fans? Reading other reviews this seems to be a regular thing.

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment, rooms are small and basic.
You pay $10 a day for a carpark that is in the open and no security.
Absolutely no pride is taken with managing this property and I would take a stab in the dark it is being used as emergency housing for NZL's less privileged.

Smoking around the building should be banned! Each time we entered the front doors we had to navigate around people sitting on the stairs smoking. For visitors from out of town or from another country. I apologise and am embarrassed that this is what they are greated with when visiting Auckland.

So if you're reading this, thank your lucky stars and spend a little extra $$$ somewhere else!

I got bad vibes on arrival, groups of people smoking around the entrance blocking the door, more people sitting on the floor in the foyer and hanging around the elevator. Waited For a while to check in as no one at reception. Paid an extra $10 per night for parking, when I returned someone else was in my allocated spot. Room itself was fine. Upon reading other reviews I can now see emergency housing is also shared in the same building. I wouldn’t stay again.

Perfect for an airport stopover with easy links into Auckland centre and the airport via bus and train. The staff were extremely unhelpful and didn’t seem to know what was going on. They charge $20 per hour for early check in and you have to put down a large deposit in case of any damages. The apartments were not clean and needed a refurb but they were ok for the one night short stay.

My experience and stay here was dump not the 4 star rating hotel do not come here ever... once we got here we got told we had to pay 100$ extra for bond plus another 10$ per day for car parking. While not telling us when we were booking online then when we got to the room it was hot and stuffy there was markers and drawings all over the wall plus candy stuck in the peep hole there was a window in the rooms looking out into the hallway. The rooms are stuffy and hot during the night making us sweat while the aircon doesn't even work. Its not worth your money. The staff are alright. Plus the next after we got back from town we get told we had to pay an extra 10$ for the car park or else the people were going to get a car towed this is the worst hotel ever never ever coming back to this dump hole ever again don't stay her guys

We stayed in apartment #701 for 2 nights. It is a 1-bedroom apartment and I've booked it because the images on the website looks like a classy upmarket apartment. However upon arrival the apartment looks nothing like the images on the website. This is misadvertising. The carpet badly stained, dirty and wrinkley. The wall paint peeling. There's no air conditioning just a standing fan not in great condition. We have to open the windows to let some air in as quite a hot day but the noise from the motorway and people cleaning windows in the opposite building late night was quite unbearable. The couch was changed with stains and holes, quite uncomfortable and filthy. TV didn't work, don't think it was plugged in. Windows could do with a clean and shutters patched up filled with dust. Floor was sticky. WiFi was free but didn't use it. Car park handy but an extra $10 a day. There's a $150 bond upon check in. The bedroom was quite narrow but bed was comfortable. Iron provided without an ironing board. Shower was clean and room serviced daily. Laundry machine provided and fridge/freezer was big enough. Reception could be more friendlier and welcoming. There's lots of foot traffic in the building. Although security was tight lots of people smoking and congregating at both entrance to the building. It can be scary at nights. Standard of cleanliness falls way short of acceptance standards and reflects overall poor management of this establishment. Such a pity as location is great quite close to Manukau mall and shops but with price and standard I would not recommend Mcentral Apartments and I would never stay with them again.

My family (wife plus two young boys) had booked 3 nights at MCentral but ended up checking out after 20 minutes.

MCentral is truly tragic and I can't discourage families enough from booking here.

The 2 bedroom apartment was in a terrible state, people who had previously occupied the apartment had serious anger management issues as there were holes in the walls, doors and scratch marks on nearly every surface in the apartment. Yes the holes were repaired but extremely poorly. We also noticed there had been graffiti on our floor's hallway at some point and hastily painted over. The building and apartment felt very unwelcoming.

After arriving we immediately had a bad vibe about the place as we noticed a lot of shady/unsavory people outside the main entrance and walking around the reception area. The lift smelt strongly of cigarette smoke (we subsequently learnt MCentral are Emergency Housing providers).

The customer service was actually okay, we had no problems checking-in, cancelling and asking for a partial refund. I can't fault the customer service experience during our brief stay.

We lost $330 NZD due to cancelling after checking in (one nights stay plus all of Expedia's commission- I will avoid Expedia in future) and instead checked in to a nearby hotel. It was the best money I've ever lost.

I booked in to MCentral for a single night as I had an out-of-town business meeting and needed to be on the south side of the city to get an early start. It was a last minute booking and so I took what I could get but if I had my time again I think I would rather have stayed home and just got up super early! As other reviews indicated, the apartment I stayed in was tired and in spite of there being two bedrooms both beds in those rooms had to be shoved up against one wall as they were pretty tiny. The kettle was not clean, the floor had not been properly vacuumed and the sheets looked like they'd been in steady use since 1974. It's also on the flight path (who knew there could be so many flights during a pandemic in the middle of the night?) and there didn't seem to be much noise dampening. However, the worst of it was that the building seemed to be home to a great deal of dubious looking characters (who may have been perfectly lovely - don't mean to judge!) so that it felt as though I had landed up in a housing estate rather than at a proper accommodation provider. Whoever owns this property should genuinely ashamed of themselves, in my opinion. Avoid.

The rooms are very unclean and dirty marks all over the walls. The staff have no clue what they are doing. Heads up after you have paid for the room there is also $150 bond to be paid. The car park is $10 a day but where you park has no security at all and the whole night we heard people drink and bottles breaking around the car. For the price the location wasn't even worth it I highly recommend going somewhere else!

Stayed here in a 2 bedroom apartment on top floor with my son, Mum and stepdad. From what I understand, our apartment is privately owned within the complex. Not sure if this is the case for all rooms/apartments. It’s Very small for the 4 of us. Not enough room for us to sit and watch tv as the couch was a 2 seater and then only an uncomfortable chair next to the couch. The tv was also very small and you couldn’t see it unless you were sitting on the couch directly in front of it due to the sun coming in from the large floor to ceiling window.
The apartment didn’t look or feel clean. The kitchen cupboards hadn’t been wiped down and there was dust around all power points throughout. We also saw several marks on the walls around the apartment. Whoever is responsible for the cleaning is doing a good job.
The bedrooms were quite small and beds are pushed up against the wall.
The shower drain was blocked and when we removed the cap to drain the water, we noticed lots of mould.
It’s very hot in the apartment also and only a portable aircon which is nice if you’re directly in front of it. No balcony.
It is close to westfields shopping centre and the bus stop though so that’s a bonus. We were only staying here as it’s close to relatives though.
No parking available. You have to pay $10/night and the parking is behind the building, not even in a secured car park underneath which again is disappointing.
There were lots of people hanging around outside smoking. These were people staying in the apartments but obviously with no smoking allowed they all hung around at the front and back entrances which made it uncomfortable coming and going.

30 minutes before anyone answered the front door/ reception desk (4pm on Saturday afternoon).
Booking confirmation (pre-paid) through travel agent. Receptionist stated no booking as such and didn't accept email from world renown travel agent on their letterhead with booking reference number - instead the receptionist demanded payment be immediately released from Agent before he would check us in.
Really rude so I informed the travel agent to refund my money and I would find somewhere else that had better hospitality. Travel agent only too happy to obliged.
