Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at the university hall during a conference. Based on this, I may have had a discount rate so I couldn't judge the value for money rate. Nevertheless, the room was okay, the bathrooms were clean and functional. The breakfast was too much unhealthy stuff, too few healthy options in my humble opinion.

Of course, it is Hostel style without usual hostel facilities as a nice bar or cosy rooms, but if you don't want that anyway, it is a very good option. It is close to the city centre and easy to reach.

I have no else to stay in this holiday sandwiched week. Booking dot com gave it high marks so I say, why not. I came in early so room not made; no problem as raising it to the attention of the reception has it fixed easily. The way to going here was hilly as in any place in this city. I reco an uber or taxi if you have a luggage since the hills can be treacherous going up or going out; going in is down so should be okay. Best thing with this stay is you got your solo room in the dorm. The shared bathroom is always empty so wait in line is non-existent. Peeve though is it is not regularly cleaned. There is hot shower. There is comforter to keep you warm in the chilly summer night. Despite saying there is none, there is towel and light (ie toast jam fruit and yoghurt) breakfast available. As this city is quite expensive, having a stay @70/night on a holiday weekend is not bad. Couple of places to eat though they close early outside at Symonds (yup, Starbucks is also there in Symonds in between Whitaker and Wellesley opposite side - with a sushi place somewhere there same side)

I came here just for one night after backpacking a month around NZ and it was like coming into a 4 star hotel!
Comfortable rooms, clean and new. Complimentary breakfast and the best of all was Josh, the friendly guy at reception, who helped me out with printing off my flight info and gave me an insight as to just how great this place is! Thanks Josh

I stayed at University Hall Auckland for 5 nights and I have to say it was brilliant.
I've stayed in many hostels around NZ but this was the best. Great location, very good price, clean and modern and free breakfast.
It actually felt like a hotel than a student campus, it's such a good idea when the students are away for summer and winter breaks to offer the rooms at budget prices.......Well done University Hall Auckland!

The University Hall is part of Auckland University student accommodation but they are open for general guests when the students are on vacations. The rooms are very comfortable and tidy. A very good thing is that everybody has their own single room so it's not like a hostel where you have to share a room with other people. The common areas in every floor are great as well, equipped with TVs and microwaves. The location is also good because it's in a very central area. The only bad thing is the hills that you have to go up and down to get there and to leave it as well.

Budget single bed accommodation in the heart of Auckland. The staff where very helpful and polite. The room and amenities where very clean and tidy, basic accommodation but more than suitable if you just need a place to stay. I would be happy to stay there again if travelling alone or with a mate.

I stayed here for three nights and was happy that I did. The price was great for such a central location, and the room spacious for a university dorm room. There didn't seem to be many people in my corridor so it was quiet and I always had the bathroom to myself.

Amazingly, breakfast is included in the price! It's very basic though: a small selection of cereals, one type of fruit per day (this varied between bananas and oranges while I was there), and toast with a few types of spread. No hot food. They did seem to have a small selection of gluten free things too. Note: breakfast ends ten minutes earlier than it says it does!

The reception staff were very friendly and happy to deal with any queries, whether that's changing the length of your stay (I cancelled my last night and they immediately gave me a cash refund), giving local directions or looking after your luggage. It was no problem arriving after hours, though I had to call a number to get someone to bring me a key.

My only gripe about the whole experience was that the pillow was lumpy, but I'm a heavy sleeper so didn't mind too much.

I stayed for 4 nights The rooms are clean the common areas are not and only one small bar fridge per floor witch is silly for the amount of people staying I only got one pillow thin as a pice of card board I did get a room across from the toilet and shower witch was handy yet not toilet paper for the first two days and I went to the Landry there's no washing powder available the vending machine was out of stock the staff are friendly but in turn very unhelpful but you do get a free breakfast in the morning

$50 a night got me a clean single room with a comfortable bed, share bathroom and shared kitchen. Located in a quiet neighbourhood only 20 minutes walk from Queen St and ferry terminal. Efficient and friendly service and incredibly, continental breakfast included as well! How could this not be an unbeatable deal

I stayed here for a conference and I have literally nothing bad to say at all. Kaye, Casey and everyone are some of the nicest and coolest people you'll ever meet. Nothing was too much trouble and they really went out of their way on several occasions, from extra pillows to even giving me some washing powder. They made my trip of a lifetime to NZ even better than I could have hoped for!
