SkyCity Hotel garners mixed reviews, with its central location near major attractions being a standout feature that guests consistently applaud. Although the rooms are generally praised for their spaciousness and cleanliness, some reviewers have raised concerns about maintenance and service inconsistencies. While amenities are appreciated by many for enhancing their stay, certain details like in-room refreshments and pillow quality have not met everyone's expectations. Service experiences at the hotel vary, with special occasions receiving commendable attention, yet some guests report frustration with check-in procedures and unsatisfactory responses to their needs. Despite these varied opinions, the hotel's family-friendly atmosphere and strategic positioning remain popular among travelers.

Skycity is a great hotel to stay while in Auckland. From check in to check out the staff are so attentive and helpful. Housekeeping are out of this world, we returned to a lovely clean room everyday and sheets so crispy and clean, some hotels don't make the beds properly, and i really loved that Skycity staff ensure you sleep in a nicely made bed every night, it makes a difference!! We look forward to returning again!!

I stayed here on two separate occasions in October. 5 nights in a row then 1 night when returning back to Auckland briefly when I joined a group tour.

This hotel is underrated and is stunning. I was surprised. It is rated as a 4 star hotel but it was more like 5 star.

The service is excellent but they need more staff at the reception to check customers in and out. Check-in took ages and had a few problems. But I won't take any stars off for that as the rest of my long stay was fabulous.

The room was so spacious and the bed a very large size. Bathrooms are immaculate and well appointed. Everything was clean and well maintained. The gym was excellent with a couple of modern treadmills, weights, rowing machines and elliptical trainers.

Any time I needed to contact staff to replace my towels or ask a question, someone always answered the phone and my requests were quickly met.

The room service menu left something to be desired though. Not a lot of choice for what I wanted, and very overpriced with all these additional service charges.

The location is central and convenient with a Countdown supermarket 6 - 8 mins down the road and Tony's Original Steakhouse 5 mins away.

I have to recognise and mention "Mark" from Concierge. I received the best customer experience from this gentleman! He always had a smile on his face and was always willing to help and go above and beyond. He recognises his guests and is a dream to deal with. Thank you Mark! Thank you!

This is my go-to hotel in Auckland.

Central location, great for casino visits or restaurants part of the complex itself. Rooms are on lower floors and offer little views. Also, very poor lighting inside the rooms, so difficult to do any reading or other work. The hotel gives complementary coupons for visit to the Sky Tower which closes early in the evening, so a visit is possible only if you eat at the expensive restaurant on the Tower. Great location if you have to catch up on tours as the bus terminal is part of the complex, however there are many hotels in close vicinity as well. One does get the feel that being a Casino, there clearly is a price gouging slant.

Sky city, more like frustrating city.

We went down for my partners birthday and we have stayed at lower rated hotels and had a far better experience.

The shower both days for both of us would run hot then fluctuate to cold then back again.

The room needs a damn good clean, I didn't want to use the glasses they were so dusty as was the cupboard and there were other people's hairs in the carpet, surly it's not that hard to clean a room.

The in-room dining was mad, $47 for 2 x slices of cheese cake, I might have been ok with this but the berries on it were clearly from frozen and the cheese cake was average at best. When I discussed this with Front of house no discount or refund was offered, the bloody kitchen guy was made to call me and chat about it, wtf, why would I want that uncomfortableness in my life.

Also we paid a $300 deposit on arrival, on checkout your charged the entire amount plus the $300 you've already paid, want that $300 back, that's a 1.8% surcharge, 1.8% to get your own money back.

There's more but tbh, I'd rather just forget this place exists

Where do I start? First thing they want is $100 on a credit card, then when we get to the room we find 2 bottles of wine and a dessert sweet and a card saying congratulations on your birthday so, I phoned reception and asked what all this was as I didn't order any of this. Later looking at the screen I noticed "my bill" so I had a look and shock horror I had been billed for it all. I complained again and still basically I would have to see the manager in the morning. In the morning I was speaking to my cousin and she said, did I enjoy the treats? She explained it was all her doing and the card should have said it was her "NOT SKYCITYHOTEL STAFF". I was not going to drink any of the wine being $45 per bottle for a wine that is $14.99 elsewhere. So disgusted I complained to the manager who seemed to think stuff happens and walked away. Skycityhotel is a secondary income as the casino rakes in millions so no wonder he walked away.

Outdated bathrooms, while checking in reception staff look bit lost and while checking out again no thank you and please no eye contact felt awkward.
Study table drawers were opening all the time because there channels were loose. This was our 5-6 stay in last one year.. highly unlikely we will be back. Felt really bad this time. Housekeeping didn’t make our room and when came back the call centre lady said because the room was discounted we don’t do housekeeping.. Room 216 date 24-26 April 2024.

Average, got a discounted room rate (still $230 a night) and everything felt discounted. Parking was a nightmare ( no mention of the two different sides). Won't be back, there must be better places to stay with kids in Auckland. Room was ok, average pillows (a few flat ones) buffet breakfast was average for the cost ($35).Overall it dampened our holiday. I think.it would be ok if you paid more, didn't take kids and spent money at the Casino.

SkyCity Hotel is convenient in location and have some great restaurants surrounding it as you would expect for a Casino. The concierge / valet service is on point and the rooms are comfortable.
But imagine this… it’s 11pm, you pull back your sheets after a long day and find stains on them. Understanding that missing detail happens you call the duty manager, who advises he will send someone to fix the issue.
30 mins later, you are still waiting, so call again. The usual apology occurs and he advises some will be up. 10 mins pass and there is a know at the door, a staff member offers 2 sheets. You stand there confused.. “do you think I am changing sheets in a hotel I paid $260 a night for” you think.
After explaining he reluctantly enters the room to change the sheets and leaves the pillows in a state of what can only be described as “couldn’t give a…”
On checking out at 11am, expect long queues of 20mins, because apparently management don’t understand their peak times and think one person on a desk is fine.
There is a lot of opportunity for improvement in management and service. If you can see past this, you might enjoy your stay.

Kia ora G_Wintle Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback following your recent stay with us. Feedback is of upmost importance to us and it is only through such feedback that we are able to improve our service, our products and the attention to detail. Thank you for your feedback on our location, the concierge/ valet team and the room. However, I was most disappointed to read about your rest of your experiences and we are taking this feedback seriously. We would like to extend our apologies to the condition in which you received your sheets, the service from staff member attended your room, few follow up calls that should not happen and one receptionist during peak hours was unacceptable. Rest assured this has been addressed with the teams and my sincere apologies to you. Having investigated each area, we have had conversation with the staff member who delivered the sheet, is currently under training and certainly one to improve. We are at a loss to understand the issue with the sheets and our Executive Housekeeper wishes to convey her apologies to you for the issues you encountered. We certainly look into a way to avoid a queue waiting. I have every confidence in our team here at The SkyCity Hotel. We take great pride in delivering excellent customer service and I know that the team have handled the situation to their best of abilities and by way of apology offered you a special rate on your future stay. Please do not hesitate to contact myself directly at William.surya@skycity.co.nz Best regards, William Rooms Division Manager

Hotel does not even have staff to perform basic daily servicing. Their rule is to clean and attend to the rooms every 3 days only because they dont have staff. From the front desk to room service, they have staff members that were whisked off from nearby properties. So much for privacy and security. Property is not well maintained. Ripped furniture even in Premium Twin Suites. No hotel is perfect but they should be upfront on their listings about the services they cant provide. This hotel does not give you a feeling of being in a hygenic place. The only plus factor is its location. We are frequent travellers to everywhere around the globe but this hotel is enough to make us worry if other hotels around the world are in a similar state. Hotel owners should make sure that when they say they are open for business that they mean they are able to perform the contracted service adequately.

Dear ABWalsh2000, Here at SKYCITY we appreciate receiving all guest feedback as we view it as an opportunity to improve. I thank you for taking the time to provide your comments. I would like to extend my sincere apologies to you on behalf of SkyCity Hotel for any discomfort you experienced during your stay with us. I completely understand that you wanted everything to be perfect for your NZ vacation, so I am very sorry that we did not meet all your expectations on this occasion. I have forwarded your feedback to all relevant departments to take up with their team members, as well as our Management Team. Please be assured that we offer consistent training to our new staff, and we really appreciate our guests patience while we continue to up-skill and mentor them. It has been a difficult two years in the Hospitality world, and we truly value everybody who chooses to stay with us. We have a strong team that takes pride in its work, many of whom have been with the company for many years. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff are paramount and we are very fortunate to have full-time 24/7 security onsite. Once again, I wish to apologise on behalf of the team at SkyCity Hotel that we were not more proactive and accommodating with your requests. Clearly there is the need for consistency and focus so we remain true to our aspirations This is certainly not an experience we would want any guest to have, and I do hope we are able to welcome you back to SkyCity Hotel in the future for a stay more reflective of our usual high standard of service. Room a little tired but ok. Shower head cracked and squirted water out the side. Shower pressure was extreme and the toilet flush was excessive glad I don’t pay the water bill.
Your security team whilst clearly identifiable in their yellow vests look scruffy and out of place. At least zip the vests up.
Obit restaurant food and service was great. Pity the view disappeared into the cloud cover😂😂.
Parking charges are excessive especially with the amount of money being spent by guests. Needs to be reduced further or even free for guests staying in the hotel
