Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just not good. Attempts to renovate left us in stitches - overpainting, new draws which didn’t close etc. no warning on website that the ‘restaurant’ wasn’t open and indeed was just a few tables a giant a wall outside lifts. Bed low and uncomfortable. Weird ‘grease’ spots on curtains - seriously what? Not their fault (?) very close to CBD but very steep hilly streets. Worst thing? Hot water in shower scaldingly hot - should never be that high.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights which had all been pre paid through a travel agent. On arrival we provide the credit card for a security bond, which is standard when checkin in to a hotel. On checkout we were advised all was good. Four days later they took $1200.00 out of our credit card. Both the travel agent and I needed to make several phone calls, over several days to receive our refund. There was no explanation or an apology for the mistake.

Never ever stay here, I would give them minus 5 stars if I could !!!!!!!!!!!! Our holiday was all pre-paid with our travel agent. Hotel take your card details when you check in. This hotel then used our credit card 4 days after we left and charged us nearly $1000 and also charged fellow guests we were travelling with. When we queried the charge they said they accidentally charged us instead. THE ROOMS WERE NOT $500 A NIGHT. (Lucky to get 3 stars)We stayed 2 nights. They then gave us the run around to get our money back until we threatened to involve police. If you have stayed here check your credit card statements!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel compelled to write this review to warn others who might have specific needs, such as a functional gym, when choosing accommodation. I recently attended a conference in Auckland and went with the accommodation options recommended as part of the conference package. Only one of the 4 options offered an in-house gym facility. Unfortunately, while the Quadrant Hotel accommodation and location were adequate for my needs, the advertised “high-tech” gym is woeful and fits into the false advertising category. I had to laugh when viewing the in-house TV spiel on the range of high tech fitness equipment and the property not being held responsible for any personal injury caused from the use of the equipment. The non-electronic exercise bike was at least 10 years old and broken, the rowing machined was broken, but the ancient treadmill did work (I preferred to walk outside in fresh air). Calling the ancient, limited scope multi-function workout station a modern piece of equipment was truly laughable. The only free weights were an ancient adjustable dumbbell set that were broken and unusable. Expressing my concern to the front desk was met with complete indifference. Unfortunately I had already paid upfront and could not get any joy on a refund.

Booked 2 rooms, 1 car but charged 2. This is despite all cars are valet parking and it was plainly obvious we came in 1 car. Still waiting for refund. Comfortable, good location. Friendly front desk staff. One of our rooms was upgraded. Comfortable and good size rooms with large kitchen. Rooms were, however, non-descript and lacking in decor. Totally lacking in ambience. The entire party was a tad surprised as we were advised one of their best rooms.

Room Tip: Parking is valet only. The front driveway is small and could be challenging with multiple cars...

The elevators in this place are a joke. I understand only 2 out of the 3 have been working for over a year now. Get your timing wrong and you'll be queuing for ages, certainly if 1 of the 2 'working' elevators fails. Very poor

We stayed in the Penthouse, but don't let that mislead you. The only thing to confirm it was a penthouse was the fact it was on the top floor and had views across the container port. The room itself was dreadful, having been renovated by paint brush amateurs, stained furniture, dents in the fridge, missing light bulbs, dents in the wall, next to no cutlery and crockery, no milk, wardrobe doors that you could hardly open, no bath robes and a cheap plastic toilet seat. If that's a penthouse at over $400 per night, it's daylight robbery. Other friends who stayed in other rooms had similar concerns. The MGT did provide a small token refund, but overall extremely disappointed and will not be recommending.

Grotty is the best description! On arrival I asked to use the main toilet at reception they gave me a key and very vague directions down corridor to the filthiest smelliest hotel toilet I have ever seen! When I say filthy I mean “Poo stained” it was gross. And no toilet paper. I told reception but they didn’t seem fazed. 2 out of 3 elevators weren’t working then once the elevator arrived a hotel cleaner barged us out of the way with her trolley and took it, leaving us to wait longer for elevator to return. She was very very rude. Valet parking was convenient until we needed to call reception to arrange for car to be ready to find the telephone in room didn’t work. They don’t give you milk for your hot drinks they give you revolting little sachets of powdered whitener. Was ok for our one night but has gone way downhill from what it used to be.

Been here twice on travel to Auckland and overall enjoyed my stay. For the price, the rooms were clean and presentable and the staff at the front were friendly and attentive to our needs. The hotel is very close to Britomart and the city and has wonderful skyline views.

Arrived around 7pm - went to our room and found that the safe was not working. Tried to call downstairs but our phone did not work. Husband went downstairs while I started to unpack. We were told we could change our room, but we had already started to unpack. No one took our bags up to our room. Our balcony was like a triangle - because our room was 1916 and near the end of the hall so we couldn't even sit out there if we wanted to. We did not realise how hilly it was in Auckland -which was not the accommodations fault but if we had of know we would not have stayed there. The Reception desk was not very helpful - when we asked questions they just looked at us and saying they are not sure!!!! We went to the Pullman next door and their staff were very helpful with all our enquiries. We never had any shampoo in our room. The cleaning of our room was very average, bed not made very well, had to ask for an extra towel because they only left one and never replenished much of what we used. The positives for our stay was that the shower pressure was fantastic, the bed was very comfortable and the location was very quiet. The breakfast was good. If we go back we would not stay here. We have stayed in some dodgie places in Europe so we are not that fussy as long as its clean etc
