I stayed at the hotel twice in May for business. The first visit I had a studio and the second stay I had a one bedroom apartment. Both rooms were well set up, modern and tidy. The rooms I stayed in had amazing views to the east of the harbour, museum and beyond. I loved watching the sunrise each morning.
The beds are very comfortable and the rooms look to have been refurbished in the last few years. Some of furniture could do with a little bit of a refresh. The sofa in the one bedroom apartment was not very comfortable, clunky for the size of the room and had a few stains.
The one bedroom is perfect for a one week business trip, as it has a dishwasher, washing machine and full kitchen, even an oven. Take an elastic line if you intend to do washing, as there is no dryer and no clothes airer.

We got to the hotel and checked in. We were placed on the 16th floor in a corner "suite". We got into the room and was surprised by the size of it. It was small! It contained 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each (i needed 2 singles due to teenage children but we made do!). The kitchenette had a fridge, washing machine, sink, a small 2 burner electric stove, small oven & half size dishwasher. The carpet needed replacing as it was lumpy/lifting and had runs in it and the bathroom was ultra small and accessed from both bedrooms as it was squashed inbetween them (sorry i didn't take a picture of the bathroom!). A 2 seater couch was also in the room to watch the tv - don't have more then 2 people who want to watch the tv - unless they sit on a kitchen chair! Also the price charged for having your car parked was a bit expensive ($35 a night is a bit too expensive!!). On the plus side, the view was good, the staff at the front desk friendly and the beds were comfortable.

Grotty is the best description! On arrival I asked to use the main toilet at reception they gave me a key and very vague directions down corridor to the filthiest smelliest hotel toilet I have ever seen! When I say filthy I mean “Poo stained” it was gross. And no toilet paper. I told reception but they didn’t seem fazed. 2 out of 3 elevators weren’t working then once the elevator arrived a hotel cleaner barged us out of the way with her trolley and took it, leaving us to wait longer for elevator to return. She was very very rude. Valet parking was convenient until we needed to call reception to arrange for car to be ready to find the telephone in room didn’t work. They don’t give you milk for your hot drinks they give you revolting little sachets of powdered whitener. Was ok for our one night but has gone way downhill from what it used to be.

Dated and well overdue a make over. The hotel itself is drab and dated. Lots of room for improvement. The restaurant is separated from the lifts by some partition boards, a very interesting dining experience. I certainly wouldn't eat there given the traffic that passes by your table while eating. The "fitness suite" is the worst of it. Broken equipment (one machines thats broken in a corner), a few old machines and 2 sets of dumbbells. I had to laugh when I saw it. The room had a kitchenette but didn't have an oven, so severely limited my cooking options. Carpets old, frayed and dirty, walls need a paint, glass table with broken corners that were razor sharp, the bed was the worst thing I've ever slept on. I was there 6 weeks, not once was the apartment vacuumed. The cleaners did random stuff, like clean the bathroom but then not the kitchen. I came back once and my frying pan was missing. I found it 3 days later in a 2nd safe located above the fridge that I had no idea was there. Nothing available in the kitchen for cooking/cleaning so had to buy all oil/antibac spray/sponges/cloths myself. My company paid $9000 for the stay and it was barely worth $90. Loved NZ but was glad to leave that place.

This is an absolute gem of a hotel. The service is 5 star standard with helpful staff who will help with bookings and restaurants etc - they really go the extra mile. We could see the Sky Tower from our room and it took less than 10 mins to get to the City Centre. In room facilities were the best we had in New Zealand including cooking and laundry equipment. Superb and great value for money.

There are plenty of places to chose from and I recommend you pick somewhere else. The reviews were good for this hotel when I made the booking, the current feedback reflects a decline in the standards and services. Communication was difficult, there are no written instructions in the room in regard to rubbish removal or services. They double booked our room on the first night so first night in a smaller room, compensated with 1 night valet parking which was so slow we collected the car ourselves, they forgot to give us the card to get out of the car park. In the second room the floor was sticky, the fridge froze the contents, there was no plug for the sink or washing up liquid. Minimal dishes and cutlery. No shampoo or body wash just empty containers attached to the walls in the bathroom. Stained sofa. The TV system kept welcoming us as the previous occupants. There is a hot tub with cloudy water and 3 old machines in the ‘gym’.
There is a view of the city, a washing machine and clean sheets. The wifi was good.
The Pullman next door looked nice.

The hotels reception frontage and check in all scream upmarket hotel and location you would expect nothing less. The issue is you get to the room and they are outdated dingy and cramped. The TV had only 5 channels and was static and fuzzy, the rooms had plastic chairs dated lounge suite and a bathroom so small have to back in to use toilet. I had a room right beside lift shaft and with no insulation meant all you could hear all night was the lift going up and down. A large number of the company I work for stayed all with same reviews except I was the only one with a view. The restaurant unfortunately didn't prove any better when buying my dinner special $20 chicken burger and chips, the burger was cold as they used cold tomatoe, cold sauce cold mayo on cold bun. They also forgot my free tap beer with the meal. Overall very unpleasant except the view.

Well if you want somewhere relatively cheap and handy to Britomart ,court house,University, Tennis and down town - it fits the bill but for us that’s all it does Don’t be fooled by the photos . This place needs serious up grade once you leave the foyer. We were two couples, tiny space. One bathroom with shower that had seen better days - good water volume though. Can hear every sound throughout unit. The couch and curtains stained, the carpet had rip in it and again needed replacing. Beds clean and comfortable but from the looks of it all cleaning restricted to superficial fluffing - behind beds and doors one would wonder if ever been cleaned. Felt front desk staff doing their best , whilst we checking out heard other customers complaining . Am hoping that this hotel will upgrade interior but in the meantime would advise staying somewhere else.

We stayed in the Penthouse, but don't let that mislead you. The only thing to confirm it was a penthouse was the fact it was on the top floor and had views across the container port. The room itself was dreadful, having been renovated by paint brush amateurs, stained furniture, dents in the fridge, missing light bulbs, dents in the wall, next to no cutlery and crockery, no milk, wardrobe doors that you could hardly open, no bath robes and a cheap plastic toilet seat. If that's a penthouse at over $400 per night, it's daylight robbery. Other friends who stayed in other rooms had similar concerns. The MGT did provide a small token refund, but overall extremely disappointed and will not be recommending.

We recently returned from Auckland NZ where we stayed at the Quadrant Hotel and Suites in a 2 bedroom executive apartment for 7 days. We were extremely disappointed when we arrived to find that our "executive apartment " was NOT was shown on their website. There were so many things wrong as you will see in the following. Extremely small, carpet stained, worn and fread, curtains very stained and hanging off the tracks, no wardrobes or drawers so living out of suitcases, small lounge which only seated 3 was very dirty, plastic chairs at the small table, bathroom extremely small with no vanity and dirty, toilet seat only secured on one side, stove and kitchen dirty. The toaster blew up day 2 so we asked twice it replaced only to be told they didn't have one. Parking is charged at $35 Aus dollars per day and can be parked anywhere as there is no dedicated parking area. We spent 2 nights elsewhere and told hotel there would be no need to charged us for parking but we were despite being told we wouldn't be charged. If you're looking for a 3rd rate hotel then this is the place for you, however if you want a decent hotel stay clear of this one.

We stayed on the 23rd floor in a queen deluxe room. The room was very small and the bathroom tiny. Check their website, the bedroom classic will be slightly bigger but only has a double bed. You would have to get the bedroom premier for a queen size bed.
There are more places to choose from in the Auckland Central area.
