We booked a nights accommodation this week based on the photos on their website. A total misrepresentation. On arrival, we asked to inspect the room ( one above office). Filthy, building falling down, a health and safety risk. Owner one of the rudest people we have met in tourism industry. This would have to be the worst accommodation we have seen anywhere in the world. DO NOT believe any positive reviews, (they were paid for)! Please, please... read all the honest negative views. Stay in a tent before you would consider staying here. Needless to say on inspecting the room... we advised the rude owner we would not be staying and left.
Final Word: This property is in such an appalling state, I will be contacting Auckland City Council and the Health Department, asking them to inspect the property with a view to them shutting it down for the safety of the travelling public.

This property was booked for colleagues who were in Auckland on business for us. The photos look attractive and sell the place as did the location.
It is a dump!. The rooms bear no resemblance to the photo - or were we moved? The room had not been serviced and was dirty. Sheets had been slept in; toilet paper hanging down to the floor (mitre corners anyone); hand basin was filthy and had someone's detritus in it, shower was dirty as was the kitchen. No knives at all, 1 fork and 3 spoons were the utensils. Table was 12 inches at most from the bed so a big squeeze to get in. TV remote had no back on it and just 1 battery so was not operative.
Manager was grumpy - what do you want? being the first response.
This is the worst hovel we have encountered in a very long time. Embarrassing and disappointing. A disgrace to Auckland and should be removed from all travel listings until it is sorted.

This place is disgusting. The owner is rude and demanded us to pay on arrival instead of on check out, even though he had out credit card details. The bowl with the sugar and coffee had what looked like a pubic hair, the paint on the window outside room looked gross, the cutlery in the drawer had rust on it, there was a razor blade on the window sil in the corridor outside our room. The cleaner doesn't understand a word you say, she waits for you to leave the room before she brings clean towels and doesn't clean the room while shes in there. We went to a concert and came back late, quietly talking. The owner banged on the door and barged in before anyone could open it, started swearing and threatened to call police, all he needed to say was hey guys can you please keep it down, we would have understood, but no. i do not recommend this place its absolutely disgusting the owner does not care about your stay he just wants ur money. Please have a look at my photos!! DONT STAY HERE!!!

the worst hotel I have stayed in bar none. My partner was giving birth at auckland hospital I needed a bed to have a sleep in for a shirt period. After confirming a bed at 8pm and not having slept for 2 days I arrived - no answer for half an hour at the door. No apology dispite explaining my situation. Room was down a dark alleyway down the side of the hotel. Room was filthy, stains on floor and walls. Bed had hairs in the sheets. Absolute diabolical hotel - please avoid at all costs.

How do places like this stay open???? couldn't get a room at conference venue so googled closest accom . Looked lovely on internet. Rang and booked 3 nights as told last room . 105.00 a night double room . Discount he said. I arrived in the dark and late after long drive. Paid on arrival and when taken to room was disgusted with toxic smell and filth . Dirty stained duvet dirt curtains falling but the horrendous smell just wouldn't go away. He refused to give my money back as I was wanted to find other accom . The quality hotel had a spare room that was cheaper and a million times better. What to do !! This place should not be allowed where are hotel inspectors and the health department!!!!

This would be the worst accommodation in existence. Picture looks great with the write up promoting edwardian character. Didn't know edwardian character came with filth, dirty smells and questionable as to whether laundering of bedding had taken place. Had to remove the uncovered duvet inner on the bed that clearly looked to have adult stains on it. Ick! Pillowcases, sheets and towels had a grey tinge to them and I'd question if they were freshly laundered. Don't think the owners have heard of fresh air - bathroom smelt of stale mould also. Thankfully the shower tray was clean but on closing the glass shower door it was outlined on the inside with black mould. Being serenaded by the commercial washing machine clunking away at night outside the room didn't do much for me either. Couldn't wait to get out of there while be extremely careful in the car park not to trip up on the building materials inclusive of building rubbish that had obviously been there for some time. This place should be condemned. Owner also needed a personality implant and learn to speak rather than grunt. Summarising the experience - disgusting.

This was the grottiest place I've seen in a long time. Filthy sheets and pillowcases. Filthy towels. Flannel had big brown marks on it. Yuk !! The floor had not been vacuumed and I'm assuming not a lot of other cleaning went on either. The owner was very creepy, leering at my teenage daughter, even touching her as he left the room after one of our complaints. Yuk !! My daughter and I went to our concert at Vector ( we only booked here 'cos it was handy) but on our return decided to drive 3 hours to our home rather than actually sleeping the night in that grot. Not only did we not know what we would be sleeping in, we didn't feel safe with the type of person running it. I do not recommend this place AT ALL !

The room and bathroom (even after requested re-clean) were dirty and smelly. Manager unfriendly and abusive. Left without using the room - loosing my payment for 2 nights accommodation. Do not believe the photos you see on the internet to avoid disappointment.

I've stayed here before back in 2009 in the "Edwardian apartment" so thought I'd try it again as it was a good room. When I booked that option again, upon arrival I got taken upstairs to a dark windowless hovel. The pizza box from whoever was there prior wasn't cleaned away, the bed was something not even as good as a backpackers and there was crappy stained furniture in the corner. The bathroom was the only decent thing, but it's not like I would be staying in the bathroom! And the toilet wasn't clean. Another door in the room opened on to a hallway where it was clear that this room was more like the "servants quarters". There was the smell of whatever they had for lunch permeating the room, as their kitchen was right there. Basically I walked to Parnell Quality Inn and stayed there, far far more suitable. Should've really asked for my money back, but oh well.....NEVER AGAIN
