Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Pulling up outside looks dodgy and not great signage. Reception staff ok on arrival, room was very small with 2 single beds in it which was the most comfy bed I’ve slept in.
Bathroom needs updating shower caddy falling off wall but shower was awesome pressure. Terrible view out window and smokers down stairs in courtyard should be banned as it comes up through open windows.
Looking in a draw for a hairdryer which there was none, I found someone’s passport and travel documents so don’t know why cleaners didn’t find it.
Handed into reception lady who was pleasant but while I waited in foyer she was constantly talking to other staff in office in a foreign language which I find rude. This stay was while the Elton John concert was meant to play and this apartment was no way worth the over inflated price.

Booked two rooms for two nights with a car park. Rooms where very nice along with all amenities, however we also booked an extra foldout bed which was not in the room upon arrival, when we approached reception they asked if we booked one then tried to recharge us, umm no check your booking details.

On the second night we tried to park our car in the same paid parking area to find out that all the car parks were full. We contacted the after hours manager to be told that if there were no car parks we would have to park out on the road and there was nothing they could do about it. Wtf we paid for parking now you want us to park on the street?

Quest Ponsonby, if you have a customer that pays for an extra fold out bed and car parking, provide it or don’t offer it, pretty simple really. You’re doing a great job to retain customers.

At first glance the room seemed nice. But I soon realised this room, which was facing the road was very noisey. Even with ear plugs the noise of the traffic was loud. In saying this apparently the rooms away from the road are quiet.
Unfortunately the shower floor did not drain - that was just gross! It was tolerable for one night but another night? Probably not... Other than this bed was comfy and room was clean.

booked initially for a few days but stay turned into 2 weeks, reception were very accommodating when my plans had to change, also very friendly.
Stayed here because my husband was in hospital in City Hospital, so I parked the car below the hotel and took the bus daily there and back, very convenient, also found the local supermarket & food court very handy on my return each evening both within easy walking distance of the hotel.
The rooms were warm, comfortable and well appointed with coffee press (essential) washer and dryer, but I have to say that the second room I was in was superior to the first because it had been refurbished, I suspect that they will all be in time. recommend room 313 overlooking rear of building, with sliding doors to juliette balcony.
Housekeeping was good and room was serviced daily, car park is under building and allows entry & exit at any time, very handy. Building is opposite a park & 100 metres or so to the bus stops. Really can't fault both the comfort and convenience. Reception staff very kind.

I stayed at the Quest Ponsonby for three nights with my family whilst we were on a tour of Zealand and we loved the apartment we were allocated it was very clean and modern. The Location was very good also close to local shops if you needed to pop out and get anything you needed. I must say the staff were absolutely amazing especially Raj and Drishti, they were so friendly and very helpful, They helped me to locate areas to visit and provided me with directions I would have been lost without them. I must thank the team at Quest Ponsonby for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely return on out next visit to New Zealand :0) !!

We had asked for a room away from the road, in the requests section of the booking form, however we were put in a room facing the road, which was noisy and made the stay uncomfortable.

When we enquired about this, we were told this was the only room available. This was despite us booking many months in advance. We were disappointed and we would have expected some communication from Quest if it was not possible for us to have a room on the other side of the building (facing vinegar lane), which we had asked for.

NO FREE PARKING! Don’t be fooled, I checked both booking.com and the Quest website to ensure that parking was included in our stay, and it was clearly stated that “parking was subject to availability”. Once the booking was confirmed, Quest stated that parking was $20 a day. When I questioned this, with evidence, they rudely replied saying that parking is never free and that I could cancel the booking. I was disappointed in the manner this simple issue was dealt with, and no longer felt welcome to stay there.

I had a film crew member who'd been in Antarctica for two months since January on an icebreaker, caught up in COVID-19 drama. He was due to arrive at in AKL at 05.30hrs and the night before, at 20.45 hrs I realised there would be nothing for him at all to eat when he checked in and he wasn't allowed out to get anything. At all. Not even the supermarket next door. I called Raj for help. He went out and bought bread, milk, cereal, yoghurt etc at 21.00hrs so there was something for my colleague when he arrived. Talk about above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you so much Raj! Can't recommend The Quest more highly. Everyone I need to accommodate in Auckland will stay here.

The staff here are not nice. We had to get out of Auckland in a hurry due to Covid. They were rude about our circumstances. Even though we had only been in the room a couple of hours and didn't stay the night they refused any form of partial refund. People like this do not deserve to survive in business.

Arrive to be told I’ve got two twin beds.....the booking is for one adult. They say they can move me tomorrow...maybe. The room is an ice box, the air system remote says I can’t change the mode so I increase the temp but it just blasts out more cold air. The bedroom with both single beds has the air con on permanent Antarctic temp so I drag a mattress to the semi-cold lounge room and sleep on floor. Risk being a dare devil and change mode to heat. Still cool but not Arctic.

Kitchen bare bare minimum. Kettle doesn’t work (can’t heat up with a hot drink). Generally unclean. Sticky table, dirt in bath. I’d move on to the next place - don’t book here. Location is all this place has to offer, there are better in Auckland.
